Scott Embry’s Saturday Junction Preview Posted on September 3, 2026September 3, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 SOARING SOLO was woeful last weekend at Carnarvon. She was gone at the 800 and faded back through the field. Prior to that had been racing really well, including placing in a 56+ 1400 and winning a 56+ 1200. No idea what went wrong but hopefully she can bounce out of it here. ROYAL GAP is the first Ash Maley runner on a program that he usually dominates (both on and off the track). Grass form strong but barrier 1 not ideal. LACEVINSKY led and won a 56+ 1400 at Junction by 1L last year on a 6-day back-up, the same set up as this year, however, he’s now an 11-year-old and just question whether: A) he’s going as well as 12 months ago; and B) whether he’s stepping as well. KEYTRADE was a c75 this time last year. Decent run 5 weeks ago. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOARING SOLO WIN Race 2 COUPE DEBURJ has headed back down from a NW trip which saw her run placings at Derby and Broome. She’s 3 weeks between runs and while she’s a query at the end of the 1400m this is a race without any depth to it whatsoever. Kept out of trouble she can wind up past the vast majority of these on ‘ability’ alone. DANEA ROCK ran second in a 1600m maiden to Swishgobango three back and then had to go to a C1 and a 56+ to stay at that distance range. She’s having her 19th run of a campaign that dates back to November 2025 and she’s a 37 start maiden, yet looks the danger. RADIO SILENCE hasn’t really handled the surface in Carnarvon but has also been her own worst enemy. SOCIAL PLAYBOY is yet to finish within 7L of the winner on the grass but this is a lot easier than a metro maiden. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – COUPE DEBURJ WIN Race 3 SPACE ACE ran second to Mr Hollywood in a C1 1600 two starts ago and then last week off a month’s gap between outings contested a 56+ when beaten 4L behind stablemate Fries With That and Junction Cup bound pair Odin Omen and Candlelight Sheriff. Drops back int o a 48+ off 6 days and in a race of horses who are hopelessly out of form he looks to get his chance. HOT NOVA ran third to Tango Rhythm and On Just Terms in a C3 1400 two back. Reproduces that effort and she’s the one to beat. LE TROY ran second in this race last year at Junction before heading onto Leonora, Leinster and Laverton. JET PLANES had his first start on the dirt last week at Carnarvon. He’ll improve for the outing. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPACE ACE WIN Race 4 DASHING DIVA was 100-1 last week but ran out of her skin behind in form pair Tango Rhythm and Western Impact in a 56+. This is a clear drop in grade and her only win to date in her career was off the quick back-up (7 days). This is not a strong race or a deep line up so expect her to be running a cheeky race. FUZZYBOX is drawn barrier 1 but does have the speed to lead. 7 weeks between outings and better suited back to 1200m. Market watch. MRS KANGAROO won this race in 2025 by 1L after being well supported in betting. Going better than it reads. COSTA STAR is deep into a campaign (start 18) but while not winning out of turn has at least been consistent. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DASHING DIVA WIN Race 5 KIMBERLEY CURRENCY won back to back races at Carnarvon in July: 56+ 1000 and 56+ 1200 and since then he has finished third to Simply Rosso and Kote and last weekend third to Solar System and Ironclad Boy. Would love to see him lead, but if he’s leader’s back then hopefully he travels through the kickback. SMART RETURN made an impression at her first start on the dirt in Carnarvon, winning by over 1L but couldn’t quite reproduce second-up. This is a good race for her on paper considering she beat home Shooting Kontiki that day. SHOOTING KONTIKI picks up a race or two each and every preparation. Lovely bread and butter dirt horse. WEAPONS HOT has to run out 1200m with 60.5kg. It’s an ask going up 7kg and 200m week to week. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – KIMBERLEY CURRENCY WIN Race 6 ODIN OMEN is going along really well. He won a 56+ 1700 two back and then dropped back to 1600 last weekend when splitting Fries With That and Candlelight Sheriff. He gets in with only 53kg after the Jason Li claim and he has been racing like he wants 1900. RED REBEL is the class runner and did win a 68+ only three starts ago. Since then has finished second to Hard Questions and ran a solid minor to Star Testimony last weekend. Great use of the 3kg claim. CANDLELIGHT SHERIF has been screaming out for 1900/2000m for a month now. He’s a one paced stayer who will appreciate being put into the contest. LUTZ ran third in the Derby Cup and is no stranger to racing at Junction. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – ODIN OMEN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 6,7 1,6,8 1,2,3,7 1,6,8 Market Market
