Scott Embry’s Saturday Kununurra Preview Posted on August 20, 2026August 20, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 ENTRAPMENT led and won her maiden at Fannie Bay by an extending 5L margin over 1300m and heading into a 1350 BM56 here drops 1.5kg start to start. The winning or losing move could come in the first 200m and whether she can cross Shasfa or not. SHASFA breezed and won a BM50 at Broome before leading and winning a BM50 at 1300 and 1435m respectively. Dropping out of a mares race on Ladies Day where she was backed into favourite and shuffled back to a really awkward spot in running. Logical danger. DUMMY SPIT won a BM56 1200 at this meeting last year as a 60 rater and is now only 12 months later is only a 53 rater. Watch. OUR COUVER is a bit out of form. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ENTRAPMENT WIN Race 2 LEVERAGED BUYOUT won the Darwin Guineas and NT Derby earlier this campaign. He’s the class runner and lengths (and lengths) better than these but 65kg is a serious ask. Just wonder whether he’s here to attack the Cup next weekend on the 7-day spin. Market will be the guide, it’ll either love him or hate him. ALOTTA DANE won the BM56 1600 at this meeting by 6L at odds on in 2025. Forget that he went around on Cup Day after copping a bump on jumping which took him completely out of the race. BONS YOUR BACK ran third in the Broome Sprint behind Now You See Me. It’s a great form line but will he run out 1600? MAGARTEN drops 5.5kg start to start after the claim for Lek Maloney and had been getting better and better in Darwin. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LEVERAGED BUYOUT WIN Race 3 MAGNABURMA is deep into his campaign (10th up) but drops out of stronger races in Broome into what looks a really winnable race. In his last three outings he has finished second to Lucky Landing (58+ 1615), third to Alotta Dane and What’s The Point (58+ 1780) and then on Cup Day finished third to Lucky Landing and What’s The Point (58+ 1615). Is a previous 7 day winner, rolls forward and a few of his rivals are only just going at the minute. Nice race for him. FABERGE TZAR won a BM62 at Kununurra in 2025 by 6.5L. He’s not racing quite at that same level this preparation but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him bounce back a bit on a track he loves. MIRACOLI is 69 days between runs at 1600m but Dick Leech goes at 20% at Kununurra. Respect. MUMMSIE rolls to the top. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAGNABURMA WIN Race 4 CABLE BOY has been going really well for Kelvin Moore at Broome. Only two starts back he won a 58+ 1400 beating subsequent winner Big Shots and then on Cup Day he was sent out a $4 chance when never really travelling the winner at any stage behind Climb On Top and Great Edition. Think either of those gallopers out be a clear cut favourite in this event and on the 6 day spin, back in grade he looks the one to beat. THROW AT DA STUMPS ran second in an RB66 first-up and then hadn’t had much luck from tricky draws second-up or third-up. More than capable. FLYING GENTRY like most of Dick Leech’s is attacking this meeting fresh and while she’s a maiden she’s got speed. PREDICTING has led and won two races. He’s all or nothing. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – CABLE BOY WIN Race 5 WARREGO is a maiden – but this is not a strong race. The third at Kyneton on 23 April reads up really well with the runner-up (Tagamate) running a metro placing out of that event at Sandown Lakeside. First-up run at Fannie Bay was attacked in betting and didn’t flatter. Now heads across to Kununurra for the powerful Yuill/Leech combination. CITY OF SIN was less than 1.5L off Gift Of the Heart and Fire The Guard in a 58+ 1100 at Broome two starts back. Settled last, finished last on Cup Day but dropped 2 points to get him back down to his lowest rating since June 2025. BUADES should be able to lead this field and from there stays out of trouble. IM A DREAMER didn’t fire at the 2025 meeting and may want further. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – WARREGO WIN Race 6 ENVENOMATE was $21 into $12 last start at Fannie Bay and won impressively. He was 6 weeks between runs, had Bar Plates removed and won well. If he can hold that form then he’ll be hard to beat in this lowly BM48 and only rising 1.5kg start to start dropping in grade as a last start winner looks a luxury on paper. OCEANS JEN ran second to Topaz in the Mares race on Ladies Day and then on the 4 day back-up was only beaten 4L behind Big Shots. Now on another 7 day spin but does thrive on quick back-up racing. WORKING CLASS GIRL led and won her maiden at Port Hedland and has been sparingly raced since. This is a great chance to lead again. MATRON SAMSING is till looking for further. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – ENVENOMATE WIN Race 7 TEXTURE is looking to win his fourth straight race. He won at Fannie Bay off a 50 day freshen on 25 July and then backed up off 7 days – won again, before backing up off 2 days and completing the hattrick. He drops 5.5kg and comes back in distance but looks really progressive for this grade for racing. Former Godolphin bred 4yo with upside. CONVINCEABILITY is dropping back aggressively in grade and looks really well suited to this BM62. Coming out of high rating races at Fannie Bay and is the class runner. TELLEZ is no stranger to Kununurra finishing second to Fast Freeze on both meetings last year in this grade. He’s going well and hard to run down with only 54kg on his back. VERBOSITY can hold up leader’s back from the draw and get things soft. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – TEXTURE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 1,3,6 2,7 1,3 Market Market
