Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on July 23, 2026July 23, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram Race 1 CUSTOM was brave in defeat lumping the big weight first-up at this track, he does generally run well fresh, no second-up from but gets an important claim. TAKEKO is our likely leader, sound effort fresh and won second-up previously, without much pressure she has to be respected. HAPPY LINK is yet to prove herself on wet ground but can’t fault her recent form this prep, gate one is potentially a problem. RECUPERATO finds this easier back tog benchmark company. Selections: 3,1,10,5 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 2 RESOLUTELY was set a big task and very brave first-up at the 1200m of the Flemington straight, only tired late. Back around a bend over 1100m is a better set-up and with the run under her belt she’s the one to beat. STAKES was well-backed to win on debut at Bendigo and did enough to be competitive in town. BRAZENDECHAMBEAU and REBEL TUESDAY are both first-up, both have talent and no shock to see either winning. Selections: 8,6,4,5 Suggested Bet: RESOLUTELY win Race 3 Best of the day TENNESSEE BOUND has been perfectly-placed again to continue her winning streak in this BM84 where she looks to control the race from the inside on what should be a modest tempo. LUNA CAT is racing very well, held up at a key stage and tried hard to the line last start, has been putting herself into the race earlier her past couple and can see her crossing to land outside the speed under Williams. BUTTERNUT PRINCESS & VESTAS both have a good turn of foot but will be dictated to by pace and pattern. Selections: 3,5,6,2 Suggested Bet: TENNESSEE BOUND win Race 4 Even race and a stack of winning chances. Stakes winning filly SNOW MERCY is a big watch first-up, trial and jumpout suggest she’s forward enough to run well in a race where there is some speed expected up front and she’ll be blending in midfield. SIGNATURE SCENT was back to her best winning here fresh and has won second-up, drawn to be prominent again with a smart claim. Liked the return of FARCITED first-up for the Freedman’s coming back from a long break, sure to improve further and BEAUTIFUL BEVY some chance down in weight. Selections: 1,3,6,13 Suggested Bet: SNOW MERCY 1 x 3 Race 5 On weight, it’s hard to go past FIRST CHORUS who is adaptable on all types of ground and can switch her pattern to suit the day. DETONATOR JACK was a surprise winner at Flemington on Finals day, a freshen since, hard to trust. SEAFALL thrashed him the start prior, she’s been up a while now and hard to see any improvement. UNLIMITED has been jumping out strongly for the Waller stable and could show up fresh. ST LAWRENCE is going ok, another who can be streaky. Selections: 9,2,4,7 Suggested Bet: FIRST CHORUS win Race 6 Not much speed in this for the stayers. DECALOGUE was restrained in a slow race last start and rider questioned by stewards. Surely let’s the horse run this time and share the lead honours with OUR CHIEF, together they have the race to themselves. The Payne-trained FERRARIO looks a good stayer in the making, unfortunately wont get the speed to show it and is a place hope only. Same story for BRILLIANTEZZA and KINGS REFLECTION. Selections: 1,5,10,3 Suggested Bet: DECALOGUE win Race 7 WINNASEDGE is well-placed to complete a hat-trick of wins with the race this race sets up, ridden up early he can park behind the speed runners ZOU SENSATION and possibly RECOMMENDATION. The Nick Ryan-trained horse is fit and firing and hard to fault, think he wins again. WA galloper COSMIC CRUSADER is the big watch first-up for the Leeks. Off the scene for 7 months, need a market or yard push on the day to get involved. MIRAVAL ROSE was close-up fresh and sure to be in the mix again. Selections: 7,1,8,3 Suggested Bet: WINNASEDGE win Race 8 Big field, many hopes. Going wide in the quaddie. STATION ONE and MAKDANE are the obvious pace setters, doubt they’ll go quick. BELLE SAVOIR could end up with a sweet run in behind them if ridden with intent early, she was a bit plain last start, liked the win previous, no shock to see her win again. PRINCE ERIC and STOP THE ROCK best of the closing bunch. Selections: 12,2,6,3 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 9 Former Kiwi CRUISERWEIGHT embarrassed his 3YO opposition at this course last start and didn’t get all favours; the win of a horse going places and should be winning again from a good draw against similar opposition. Take your pick the rest, CELTICS is racing well and comes through the same race. MAHERSHALA is on the up with the Waller-trained BARKING MAD. They look the only threats. HOTEL SENSHI some chance if they go hard up front. Selections: 2,5,6,7 Suggested Bet: CRUISERWEIGHT win 3 Leg MULTI: R3#3 TENNESSEE BOUND win, R7#7 WINNASEDGE win, R9#2 CRUISERWEIGHT win.
