Michael Heaton’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 3, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 ACOUSTIC BUBBLES has placed at all four of her starts for David Smith and looks ready to break through. She hit the line hard to finish a nice second to short-priced favourite Radiant Light (who got a soft lead and dictated terms) last start and this looks a better setup for her. GRACEFUL LASS stepped from 1300m to 1600m last start and wasn’t quite able to reel in Lanta who got things cheaply in front. She now drops back to 1400m, Peter Fernie changes her head gear and she should be in the finish again. SAINTY CULLITY ran well for Holly Nottle last start and she sticks. MAD SPITFIRE isn’t going quite as well as the first three but he can ride the speed. Numbers: 5-6-1-3 Suggested Bet – ACOUSTIC BUBBLES WIN RACE 2 CELEBRITY PRINCE was a great run at $31 last start when gelding held up on straightening but bursting through late to run a fast-finishing second to Prawns Eleven. He’s steadily built into his campaign, is a good horse when at his best and he has the turn of foot to match motors with Don’t Wait For Luck with the 4.5kg pull on him. DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK is flying this campaign and will be hard to beat. He loses a senior rider here which is important to note but the positive is that he gets in with the exact same weight as his last-start win after Cassey Martinan’s claim. PLAYING GAMES was solid first up for Peter Fernie and she should get the run of the race. MONTY ZOOMER has been an iron horse this season and looks capable of measuring up in this grade. Numbers: 3-1-7-4 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY PRINCE WIN RACE 3 WHITE HOT should be very hard to beat in this company. Two starts ago she finished third to Western Jet (races at Belmont on Saturday) and Partay (subsequent winner) when making her run on the less favourable section of the track and she beat home subsequent Kalgoorlie winner Cawarra in the process. She should land in the box seat for Tash Faithfull and the drop back to 1200m likely suits. RATTLE THE CAGE debuts off the back of two encouraging trials where he showed tactical versatility. He can roll forward here and run a big race first up. KENTUCKY DRIVE is an 11-start maiden but she’s placed at three of her past four starts and gets Austin Galati aboard. DIRECT DEBIT was a touch plain last start. Numbers: 6-4-5-2 Suggested Bet – WHITE HOT WIN RACE 4 ART SESSION isn’t an easy horse to catch but this probably looks an easier race than the one he won at Northam last start and he gets in okay with 59kg after Natika Riordan’s claim. He was scratched from Belmont on Wednesday to save for this race and he should bounce straight on the speed and prove hard to beat. LAVISH CHARM has been very underwhelming as a beaten favourite at his past two starts and will have to burn the candle at both ends with Art Session drawn more favourably than him. DANCEWITHME looks suited dropping back to 1100m and she should get a nice camp on the leading brigade in running. CHIPILLY has been freshened since her last start and this looks a sticky race shape with the speed to her inside. Numbers: 1-2-4-6 Suggested Bet – ART SESSION WIN RACE 5 SLIPPERY FISH continually draws awkwardly but she’s going well. She won at this track/grade/distance three starts back when working to the breeze before solid efforts at her next two outings and she could potentially even find the top this time around. VIRESHA was a super first up run for Brett Drury then overdid it on a hot speed at her next run and subsequently got blown up. She should find cover here and can bounce back. I’M GENEVIEVE looks like she’ll appreciate stepping back to 1200m and she could also settle a pair closer this time around. ALEBRIJE did it tough first up and has drawn awkwardly again but likely still finds this easier. Numbers: 3-4-6-2 Suggested Bet – SLIPPERY FISH WIN RACE 6 SCOTTISH LAIRD is ready to win one. He was stiff first up, second up and third up before going down by a head fourth up and whilst he goes up a half-kilo to 61kg now, he should enjoy the run of the race and be in the finish again. HIGH PRECISION was absolutely humming prior to last start where she was a big forgive after having a lot of traffic issues in running. She’s drawn to stay out of trouble and it’d be no surprise to see her bounce back. RIVERCREST MAGIC was sectionally no hope with how slowly they went up front last start but she is going well for Peter Fernie’s yard. RUNFORROB drops sharply in trip off a four-week spacing but is another who looks ready to break through. Numbers: 1-2-10-7 Suggested Bet – SCOTTISH LAIRD WIN RACE 7 IDEALLY has looked much more effective since stepping up in distance and this looks her race to break through in. She was put into the race before the corner last start and then swamped in the final stride by Blood Brother who looks a handy enough type and lines up in the Aquanita Stakes at Belmont on Saturday. She’s drawn a bit better here and ticks boxes. I DREAMED A DREAM went around at $31 in the same race and hit the line as well as anything. She might end up tracking Ideally in running and do her best work late again. GOLD ENIGMA joins the yard of Trevor Tasker and can be competitive in and around this level. ROYAL GUARDIAN next best. Numbers: 1-8-5-4 Suggested Bet – IDEALLY WIN RACE 8 Tough race. ALOTTA FIGHTING has won 1 from 19 which doesn’t fill you with confidence but he was one of the runs of the day first up over an unsuitable 1200m. Might be going a run early with him here as he typically does his best work at a mile but he’s clearly returned well, will appreciate the extra furlong and there should be a moving line for him to blend into. JUST SUBLIME continues to savage the line and was held up over the final stages last start. She now drops back to 1400m four weeks between runs and likely lands three-back the fence in a solidly-run race. WHATYOUTALKINBOUT creates his own luck on-speed and knocked off Just Sublime at this track/grade/distance two starts back. BATISTA likely settles last but has been looking for more ground and he gets it here. Numbers: 7-4-3-1 Suggested Bet – ALOTTA FIGHTING EACH-WAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,6,7 1,2,10 1,5,8 1,2,3,4,5,7 270 combinations Market Market
