Michael Heaton’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on June 25, 2026June 25, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 FAVOURED SON rises in grade but he’s hit the ground running at his first 2 starts at Roebourne for new trainer Michael Ball and drops 3.5kg here. First up he was a soft winner when leading all the way and last start he reeled off the fastest last 400m of the meeting when beaten a head by subsequent winner Favoured Son. Tactically versatile, in-form and the senior rider sticks. BARTIME stepped a bit slow at his first start on the dirt and never looked likely. The blinkers now come off, he draws the inside and he drops 3.5kg after Jason Li’s claim. GALAXY AFFAIR won with a leg in the air both 2 and 3 starts back before having a tough run with 63kg last time out. He drops 1kg from a better draw with new apprentice Kayla Holroyd jumping aboard for her first race ride. THE COOLAKIN KING has only been fair so far at Carnarvon this prep but he now returns to Roebourne where he’s 2 from 2 and he could lead this. Numbers: 5-4-1-3 Suggested Bet – FAVOURED SON WIN RACE 2 RAY’S SAUCE looks ready to break through. 2 starts ago he went around a big price in a C1 at this track/distance and ran a nice second before covering ground over 1300m and sticking on for 1300m at Port Hedland last time out. He now drops back to 1100m, gets a senior rider aboard and should hold a more forward position from his inside draw. LEAFICE joins Dean Cocivera’s yard first up and looks a filly who should be a handy type this season. She’s placed at 3 of her 8 starts at the inner provincials and can ride the speed. DARK OPAL has a sticky gate to overcome and needs everything to go right at the best of times but she can roll forward and is another one getting close to an overdue win. MARITIME DREAM will be doing her best work late. Numbers: 1-6-4-7 Suggested Bet – RAY’S SAUCE WIN RACE 3 DENVER AFFAIR is a mare in form. 2 starts back she led them up and ran second to subsequent winner Fameux before finding trouble back in the field and rocketing home to win at this track/distance last start. She meets stronger opposition here but drops 1.5kg and has options from her draw. KIA ORA TATOU improved sharply second up and he’s a different horse when he’s able to land on-speed which he should be able to do here. ADRETT continues to hit the line well and now draws a much better alley. DAWN RETREAT will get back and likely find the drop back to 1100m a bit sharp but he’s returned very well again this prep. Numbers: 3-4-2-5 Suggested Bet – DENVER AFFAIR WIN RACE 4 WARBY RANGES was only going fairly early in his campaign but he looked back near his best last start when recording the fastest closing sectionals and making good late ground. He now steps to a mile and if he can jump a bit cleaner and be within striking distance on straightening, he can be in the finish. GRUNDY THREE VOTES has gone back from awkward draws over unsuitable distances at his first 2 starts in WA but he looks capable of improving sharply here. Third up over the much more suitable mile, blinkers go on and he’s drawn a gate in a race he can lead which was his pattern when showing his best form on the east coast. FRIES WITH THAT is a model of consistency but will likely have to burn the candle at both ends from a sticky draw. HUNDRED YARDS is also going well and usually around the mark. Numbers: 2-3-5-4 Suggested Bet – WARBY RANGES EACH-WAY RACE 5 IMPERALIZE is humming now and is a previous 1500m winner so the step to 1400m shouldn’t be an issue. He’s led throughout to win at his past 2 starts, stays in the same grade and he actually drops 1kg after Jason Li’s claim (who won aboard him at Roebourne 2 starts back). Hard to beat again. IMMORTAL SHIELD was a big win at this track/grade/distance last start when making up the most ground of any winner at Roebourne so far this season. He’ll be steaming home late again. CHEDDAR BOB is a consistent type in and around this level and will likely ride the speed alongside Imperialize in running. RED REBEL hit the line hard at Carnarvon last week and should continue to improve as the distances increase. Numbers: 2-4-3-1 Suggested Bet – IMPERIALIZE WIN RACE 6 REGINALD gets a very similar setup to his last-start win and he’s proven at 1800m-2200m so the rise in trip only strengthens his chances. He meets similar rivals only 1kg worse off at the weights and will ride the speed again. MAGIC MIKEY was a great run at his first start on the dirt with a fast-finishing second to Reginald. He gapped the third-placed horse by more than 3L and the extra furlong suits. GRANITE ROCK was the third-placed horse in that race and should either lead or sit outside Reginald in running again. WHISPERING PHAROAH can bounce back after last week’s disappointment and is another better suited by the rise in trip. Numbers: 1-6-4-8 Suggested Bet – REGINALD WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,5 2,4 1,6 100 combinations Market Market
