Michael Heaton’s Saturday Port Hedland Preview Posted on June 18, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 MY TEA is a 13-start maiden but he’s getting close. He’s run second at both starts this preparation, ran the fastest last 400m of the meeting despite racing wide last start and now gets an extra 100m with blinkers on for the first time. Stablemate MINOZZA has drawn wide but if he gets away like last start he should still be able to get across to land on-speed and give cheek again. RAY’S SAUCE improved sharply second up and can settle prominently in the run. COCOON GIRL gets back but will be doing her best work late. Numbers: 1-4-2-7 Suggested Bet – MY TEA WIN RACE 2 CHANTILLY GIRL steps from 1100m to 1400m with blinkers on for the first time which is a potential query but she’s going well and should lead this race easily. She’ll likely look the winner at some stage – just needs to run out a strong 7 furlongs. HOPE TO ADMIRE beat 2 subsequent winners when breaking maiden status 2 starts back and was solid in a C3 last time out. He looks suited stepping up to 1400m and dropping back into a C1. WING IT finished strongly to win at Roebourne last start and should enjoy the run of the race. PUDDIN ‘N’ PIE is a class dropper and has the speed to get across from her awkward draw. Numbers: 4-1-2-5 Suggested Bet – CHANTILLY GIRL WIN RACE 3 PERCUSSION PRINCE will find this easier than his last start when beaten 3L in a 56+ behind Immortal Shield and either of his previous 3 efforts this preparation should see him prove hard to beat. He has options from his inside draw and the Pike-Mahoney combination is always a good one to follow. TORQUED UP has drawn sticky but has the speed to be able to work across to the breeze. He’s a consistent north-west horse and is going particularly well this time in. TASSORT WE WANT has been very good at his 2 north runs for Brett Pope but it looks a tough map for him with speed drawn to his inside. LADY CABERNET broke a long winning drought last start and should get another suitable run. Numbers: 6-1-2-5 Suggested Bet – PERCUSSION PRINCE WIN RACE 4 GALAXY AFFAIR has been completely dominant in his 2 wins this north-west season. 2 starts back he reeled off all the fastest closing sectionals of the meeting to win at this track/distance before proving far too strong again despite carrying a 64.5kg impost last time out. He now drops 1.5kg after young gun apprentice Jason Li’s claim and can win again. FAMEUX drops 6.5kg from a sharp last-start win in easier company at this track/distance and gets blinkers back on. He’ll be hard to run down if he can find the top early. ROYALZEL is going great guns and flies at Port Hedland in particular but will likely get back and need some luck. BARTIME brings good grass form and is a watch at his first north-west start. Numbers: 1-7-4-6 Suggested Bet – GALAXY AFFIAR RACE 5 Good race. HIT THE JACKPOT hasn’t been able to break through yet this preparation but he’s been around the mark in all 3 runs and is well weighted for this. He drops back from a 68+ to a 56+, gets in with 59kg after apprentice Sharni Webster’s claim which gives him a 2kg swing on La Signora Dane for beating her home last start and she has options from her low draw. CASSENITE hit the line powerfully at Roebourne last start and will be dangerous late with only 54.5kg if she’s within striking distance on straightening. STAR POWER will have to overcome a sticky gate but she’s won 2 from 3 at this track/distance and Kyra Yuill is flying up north. IMPERIALIZE led throughout in this grade and can lead again but now rises 4.5kg in a trickier race with a senior overtaking an apprentice. Numbers: 1-7-2-8 Suggested Bet – HIT THE JACKPOT WIN RACE 6 ANOTHER NEPHEW was a huge run first up from a freshen when making eye-catching late ground to be beaten less than 1L over 1400m. He’ll likely settle in the second half of the field and naturally will need some luck from there but the step to a mile with a senior aboard looks ideal. TOUSLED CROWN did it tough last start but any of her previous runs are more than good enough to win this. WHISPERING PHAROAH was able to roll forward and give a lot of cheek at a big price at his second run in WA. He’s capable of settling prominently again in this and he should continue to improve as the distances increase. HUNDRED YARDS will appreciate the step back up in distance. Numbers: 3-2-6-7 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER NEPHEW WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,6 1,4,6,7 1,2,5,7,8 2,3,6,7 240 combinations Market Market
