Scott Embry’s Friday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 22, 2025April 22, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MUNGO JERRY beat LOVE DRUNK BABY by 1.7L and beat PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC by 3.1L last Friday – a week later it’s a rinse and repeat and given that Rocky Cheung goes onto Mungo Jerry he’s even meeting them better at the weights. Great chance to go back to back. BAALBEK is the new addition to the race and the fact that Peter Fernie puts Tash Faithfull on him over Love Drunk Baby says that he’s the better winning chance. Hard to run down if he crosses. LOVE DRUNK BABY can lead or box seat – he’s versatile. PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC is always there abouts. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – MUNGO JERRY WIN RACE 2 RYEWOOD got herself into all sorts of trouble last week. Chanel Cooper was actually able to get her out of the gates and into a commanding position in running, however, from there, nothing went right. She was held tight at the 300m and lost all momentum. Huge effort from the mare to somehow come again late under 60kg. Just needs an uninterrupted passage. SCOTTISH LAIRD beat her by 3L on the line – but watching the replay that probably shouldn’t have been the margin. KALLAROO continues to run placings for fun. Just won’t win. MOUNTAIN ASH an improver. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RYEWOOD WIN RACE 3 BANG FOR BUCK was a drifter in betting last week and was no match for On Just Terms. 7 days later a senior rider goes on, a gear change is made and he’s stepped out over further. They can improve quickly after one run on the Goldfields when they stay in town. QUEEN OF CHAOS is a 19 start maiden but if she rolls to the top in this and controls she’ll be in front for a long way. AWEEMAWAY gets out in trip and closed off better than Bang For Buck last week. MANGANUI nearly pinched a couple of maidens in Esperance – that may have been opportunity missed. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BANG FOR BUCK WIN RACE 4 JUST SUBLIME made her debut last Friday the Good Friday meeting and finished second to Ultimate Paradise. Not easy to then back up 7 days later but Tash Faithfull sticks, she draws low and hopefully the expected natural improvement start to start with the experience on her side can see her break through early in her career. ADMIRATION BAY trialled well enough to run a race fresh. I HAD A DREAM is still dreaming of winning a maiden. Might need a change of colours – Saints dragging him down? TAPITLIKEIT’SSASSY an improver here. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – JUST SUBLIME WIN RACE 5 TREBLE MAKER was having her first start since 23 December 2023 when resuming at Pinjarra on April 9th. Was a leader dominated program and she was one of very few gallopers to make any inroads. Tash Faithfull sticks, Exporose has won again. Tick, Tick. Should only improve into the campaign and this looks a great stepping stone into better company. DREAM BROOK was produced first-up, no trial at the opening meeting won like a mare who was in for a good prep. Nice use of the claim. SAFE RAPPA was a huge run last week. Can mix his form but if he reproduces that effort, he’ll be hard to hold out late. ULTIMATE PARADISE finally broke through last start and did it in style. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREBLE MAKER WIN RACE 6 WESTERNIZE drops back beautifully in grade from a 64+ when finishing second to Love Drunk Baby into a 58+. He’s a proven weight carrier, he’s a proven 58+ conveyance and he’s competitive from 1100m to 1400m. He’s yet to win past 1200, but if you watch the replay behind Habib on Cup Day at Esperance – he should have won. Nice race for him. RULING DAME looms as the big danger and likely favourite. She hasn’t won a race for nearly 600 days but her two runs this prep have been her usual consistent efforts in defeat. Another tough draw? KHALIDA and KELLY’S LI ZA LU are yet to show their best this campaign. They’re both better than current form. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – WESTERNIZE WIN RACE 7 I NEVER DREAMED made her WA debut for new trainer Gary Bowen at the Opening Meeting when third behind Dream Brook under 60kg. With a slightly deeper line-up here she is one of the big beneficiaries because this time around she’ll stay in C1 company but only carry 58.5kg. She’ll be a nice acquisition for the region. KEEP A KNOCKIN’ went toe to toe with Queens Sacrifice up the home straight at the opening meeting and was only nosed out late. Just needs a good ride from the really tricky alley. ELOUNDA STAR won her trial by 14L. Not a typo either. PRAY WITH YOU was a handy run in the Queen’s Sacrifice race. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – I NEVER DREAMED WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 7,8 3,4,8 1,6 2,3,5 Market Market
