Scott Embry’s Sunday Laverton Preview Posted on October 25, 2024October 25, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SASSY ROXY has just been a different mare on the dirt. She has won at Mt Magnet from near last and then powered away from them over 1400m at Leonora. This is definitely harder for her but after the Snaggers Sardelic claim she’s got 54kg. YES OF COURSE has the services of Alex Hearn and he’s an aggressive rider on a horse with speed. If he leads he’s a big chance in this. ROEY CLAM has been up for a long time but continues to race well. TIME TO THUNDER was a big improver at Leinster and is 2 from 2 undefeated at Laverton. Respect. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SASSY ROXY WIN RACE 2 LUCKY PURSUIT is still a maiden but did beat home key rival You Can Tell Me last weekend at Leinster and Mollie Clark is riding really well. Think he’s just about ready to pinch one of hese. YOU CAN TELL ME has steadily improved at his last few. Second to Sassy Roxy at Leonora and then third after sustaining a run from the back of the field at Leinster. Only win was at Laverton. MARCHING is on trial at 1400m. Will he run it out? PSYCHIC SESSION needs to lead. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – LUCKY PURSUIT WIN RACE 3 ZORRO’S AIM wasn’t bad at Leonora after missing the kick and then didn’t look suited dropping back in distance to the 1000m straight at Leinster last weekend. Visors on, back out to 1200m and expecting a sharp improvement from him. SCHNOOTS is a long time maiden and hasn’t handled dirt racing on occasion but she’s got speed to use. LE WREN was making solid ground late last weekend. Could it be lucky start 33? WHOLE LOTTA TASHA next best in a very thin maiden. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZORRO’S AIM WIN RACE 4 EBONY’S ACE was a dominant winner last weekend at Leinster by a near 5L margin. Made a long sustained run around them (way to ride Leinster) and wasn’t stopping late. Back to 1200m is the issue but Kate Pateman can ride her with confidence. ROMERO loved the straight racing last weekend and was too good for handy proven dirt mare Bitovemu. That form should hold up. TALKING HEADS ran a cheeky race at Leonora the week prior. GLASS OFF didn’t love Carnarvon which concerns but ran well behind King Akeed at Geraldton on the grass. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – EBONY’S ACE WIN RACE 5 SMOKEY MOUNTAIN is quick and should be able to lead this field (if he crosses Bitovemu). 1400m back to 1200m a big tick and if he can reproduce his jump and run effort from Leonora then he’ll be hard to run down in the Sprint. BITOVEMU has run second at Junction, third at Leonora and second at Leinster. Looking for her first win at Laverton after going under at $1.40 last year. FAIR GRACE isn’t as good as many of her rivals but has some speed. YANKEE LIMA will need to jump cleanly to stay in touch early. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SMOKEY MOUNTAIN WIN RACE 6 SOLDIER’S CAMP is thriving on the dirt and is looking to complete the Leonora, Leinster and Laverton Cup treble in the same way that Got Lucky did in 2023. The way he’s going see no reason why he won’t be able too, especially considering from barrier 1 he should be able to lead and dictate terms to them again under Mollie Clark. SEDUCE ME is the X-Factor galloper after demolising them at Leinster in a lower grade over a lesser distance on the same program. WHO’S YOUR MAMA was super run into second in the Leinster Cup after rider Kristy Bennett lost her offside iron out of the gates and until the 1000m marker. LAUTRE next best. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOLDIER’S CAMP WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,6 1,2,3,5 2,4 1,5 Market Market
