Chris Nelson’s Friday Sunshine Coast Preview Posted on October 25, 2024October 25, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Night racing on the Sunshine Coast gets under way with a small field of 3yo’s however it’s still an interesting race to sort. The Kendrick pair ITALIAN RIVIERA & CHAPARREL CHASE are at the top of the market & do look the two on form, really could lean either way as the former is first up out to 1400m & the latter although placed & won hasn’t beaten much quality wise. I’ll lean to ITALIAN RIVIERA who is a city winner. PIERATA’s GEM next best, solid enough win in town the latest. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 2 I was hoping to get a price about JUNGLE JET first up however that’s not the case as he & PAPAL WARS have opened up short in what is a race lacking in depth. PAPAL WARS has the city form placed 3 of his past 4 however he still is yet to win in 9 starts. JUNGLE JET trialled well at Deagon, he’s been a little one-paced however that win suggested he’s got a little more zip than on face value, race just seems to set up well for him. The debutante LIKA WRECKIN’ BALL wouldn’t have to be any star to get away with the race either. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 2 selections in Quinella/Exacta. RACE 3 Stack of scratchings however that hasn’t made the race any easier as there’s plenty of debutantes to go around. I’ve settled on SKORPIOS ISLE who won a recent trial at Doomben well enough to rate well here & his stable is in good form of late. MISHANI HITMAN has the all-important race experience, will roll forward & put himself in the race right from the outset. No knock HEY CHARDONNAY who hasn’t really had things go her way both starts whilst ROCKY REWARD should be kept safe comes out of a fast run trial. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 21 – 6 Suggested Bet: Market the key. Look for the firmers. RACE 4 Although stepping straight up from maiden grade ASHANKO appeals from a good gate here. He drew very wide at that debut yet was able to slot in with some cover, brought to the outside in the straight he showed plenty of dash to boot clear for a decisive victory. He should take good improvement off that & I’m happy to stick with him. QUADE got the job done last start as he should have in a race which looked very suitable, maps well again I’d be surprised if he didn’t figure in the finish. MR ENCORE has trialled well between runs whilst BONDED AFFAIR is a watch fresh, the gate could be awkward however his first up & overall record is a good one. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet: ASHANKO EACH-WAY. RACE 5 LOYALTY COUNTS is a good price here considering he’s won both starts this prep on this track over this exact 1800m trip. With the claim for Landan Sykes he’ll carry 1.5kg less & you know he’s going to be rolling along out front giving his rivals plenty to catch. WANDA’S OUTLAW chased him home into 3rd spot two runs back & yes is better off at the weights (1kg), is that enough though? LEGER CHASE some chance. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: LOYALTY COUNTS EACH-WAY. RACE 6 HOOKS & CLUEDO met here two starts back with the former just holding off a late lunge from the latter. Both have had a run since with HOOKS winning again (convincingly) & CLUEDO running a solid 3rd in town over 1600m. They lock horns again tonight over 1400m with CLUEDO 3.5kg better off for the narrow defeat, I’ll lean his way to turn the tables. LUMIERE is a newcomer to the Geran yard, best work fresh was late at Warwick, likely not far away, one more perhaps? Stablemate HAYSIRI is also new to the stable, holds a very good first up record, must be kept safe. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: CLUEDO EACH-WAY. RACE 7 Lindsay Gough is having a great run at the moment & his unbeaten gelding NO NAME FRANK looks very hard to beat in this final race. He has only been to the races once for a strong closing win at Ipswich & trials either side have been good, can’t see 1200m fresh being an issue. CHANGE THE DEEL flashed home late to just miss here first up, stays at 1200m expect a similar run here as his pattern is to get back. SCRIBBLE has been scratched a few times recently, in good hands & the stable like a bet, monitor market moves closely. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet: NO NAME FRANK TO WIN. Market Market
