Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 5, 2024July 5, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EDWARDS CHOICE has had many ‘last chances’ and he’s even had 7 starts this preparation but these maidens just continue to get weaker by natural attrition and with Tash Faithfull going on for a claiming apprentice we’ll go again. Can already feel the post race head shaking at this decision. SASSY SKYE beat him home last start and gets every favour in a race where it looks like she’ll amble to the top without much pressure. ALL CHILL was again really well supported in betting last start. AL TINA next best. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – EDWARDS CHOICE WIN RACE 2 ROYAL ACCOLADE has finished a narrow second at both runs since arriving on the Goldfields with Josh Brown. Loomed the winner when just missing behind Brazen Empress, loomed the winner when unable to grab Lightning Gold. Like Edwards Choice in the opener, he gets one more before the sin bin. AMERICAN THIGHS finished third behind Lightning Gold and Royal Accolade last start but was first-up no trial off a 98 day spell. Steps out to 1200m which might be on her limit but she can burn across into a spot. GREY REVOLUTION was a great first run for Charlotte Skerrit and gets every favour along the fence. AWEEMAWAY is getting very close. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROYAL ACCOLADE WIN RACE 3 TALK IT UP vs BAALBEK vs MUNGO JERRY is a cracker. Add in Town Hall, Love Drunk Baby and a speedy newcomer called Takshaka and you’ve got an absolute belter on a Sunday afternoon. BAALBEK was able to reel in Parori last start and with the weights being 62.5kg Talk It Up and 55.5kg Baalbek MR Peter Fernie has swapped the hoops around and Lucy Fiore will jump aboard BAALBEK. Think he can get TALK IT UP but he’ll have to be at his very best. TALK IT UP is the King of Kal on his day and drops 1.5kg on a dominant Mayoral Cup win. MUNGO JERRY is getting very close having run into that pair first-up and second-up respectively. TAKSHAKA a watch. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BAALBEK WIN RACE 4 DEBONNAIRE gives every indication he’ll make his way through the grades this preparation. C2 1200 winner (on a Soft7) when pushing into the clear to win impressively and backed it up with a clinical 2.25L win in sizzling time (6.5L faster than C2 average). He’s a proven weight carrier, he’s got the tactical speed to hold a spot close handy and Victoria Corver is riding him with great confidence. Can win again. SYMPHONY IN RED was huge last start when wide throughout and rearwards on a day where it was near impossible to make ground. Big danger. COCOON BAY should be a nice acquisition for Helen Harding’s team. PRINCESS CHUNK always a treat if she’s on song. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – DEBONNAIRE WIN RACE 5 TWIST OF GOLD comes back to 1100m and that could be the key to her winning chances. She’s quick but she’s vulnerable late in her races so while 1200 back to 1100 doesn’t seem like much of a change it could be the difference for a filly like her. DUO MUSO ran second to Symphony In Red first-up in Kalgoorlie and looks in for a really good prep. BORN AND BREAD won a C3 1000 at Ascot beating Lost City back in May. That form jumps off the page. WANNA CRACKER won back to back races earlier in the season and now resumes off a 6 week freshen. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – TWIST OF GOLD WIN RACE 6 RYEWOOD was backed as if unbeatable last start and duly saluted in an easy viewing 2.5L romp. It was visually impressive but sectionally it was outstanding. The overall race time was 7.5L faster than average and now stepping out to 1760m she looks very hard to beat again. Lucy Firoe sticks with her ahead of Onemoreforleo and that’s a big push in itself. SO LIKEBALE rolls to the top and runs them along. He was responsible for the massive speed figures out of that race. Respect. RED CADILLAC tried hard in 70+ company last start and looks well placed and weighted after the claim. ONEMOREFORLEO has had a wonderful preparation and maps to get every chance. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – RYEWOOD WIN RACE 7 MILITARY ACTION was crunched in betting last start and while no match for eventual winner Debonnaire that form is every chance of being franked in the 58+ 1200 earlier in the program. Same grade, same track, same distance and if he can run minors behind Dreamtime Jean and Debonnaire then he’s more than capable of winning this. BRAZEN EMPRESS was ridden for speed in that event and ran the first 800m 11L faster than average. Did a super job to fight on into second and did beat home Military Action in the process. SECRET ATTIRE is a last start winner who is putting it together on the Goldfields. MINOR DETAIL is always thereabouts. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – MILITARY ACTION WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,9 1,4,8,9 2,3,5,6 1,2,5 Market Market
