Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on June 20, 2024June 20, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WONDER WEAPON looks to have finally found her race. She has been knocking on the door all preparation and just running into one or two better than her on each occasion. Danny Morton now reaches for a set of blinkers for the first time and gets her out to 1600m. Tricky draw but Lucy Fiore has given her 10/10 rides ever since taking over on the mare. With even luck she should be going very close. BELLE JOURNEE looks the value runner in the race. Has been in form all preparation, maps well and goes around a juicy price. Just needs to show up at Belmont. ALLEGRO SONATA steps up in grade but is in consistently good form. LOVA SESSION is running out of chances. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – WONDER WEAPON WIN RACE 2 SEPTEMBER BORN looks a promising colt. He’s the full brother to former stable star and Group One winner Kay Cee and Neville Parnham has given him a good education with 4x barrier trials over two preparations before taking him to the races. Travels strongly, looks to have a turn of foot and Brad Parnham has options from the barrier. Only one winner in the field and given a great chance to win on debut. COONDLE got the job done last start and hopefully a near side blinker will straighten him up. GOD SHE’S SASSY can burn across and may be better suited at 1000. SCENIC GEORGE was 4 deep the trip last start and kept kicking. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – SEPTEMBER BORN WIN RACE 3 FINAL SIREN should be continuing his way through the grades as he heads towards bigger and better things over the coming months. He’s got a brilliant high cruising speed and he’s got a real X-Factor about him. Looks like he can still go quicker and even if he has to park up outside of Ginnivan with 60kg still think he’ll be too classy for them. Very nice type. GINNIVAN likely beats him to the punch and finds the fence first. If it was to pour on race morning that only enhances his chances of causing the minor upset. MAGICASH is two from two and has done nothing wrong. IF I DIN HAVADIME has some handy form in 3 year old company from last prep. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – FINAL SIREN WIN RACE 4 TALLANGATTA was coming off a minor set back last start after being a late scratching on 1 June with a suspected hoof abscess. Willing to forgive and forget the last start run and go off his prior efforts when beaten narrow margins by the in form Fat Roy Slim. Straight to the top with only 53.5kg and goes around double figures. Respect. STRIKE NOW and CITINO ran past him last start and both are going really well. No doubt they’ll be powering home again from off the speed. TRULY RELIABLE got through late at Northam and worked home nicely into fourth. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – TALLANGATTA EACHWAY RACE 5 FALCON TRADER is a winner. He’s now 6 from 15, he’s proven on all types of surface and he’s as a last start winner over a mile. The three main dangers in the market (Savage One, Westriver Miracle and Atlantis Beach) haven’t saluted the judge in an average of 721 days and he maps a treat here parking behind Savage One. Up in grade out of a WA Day Cup at Northam but love the way he just keeps getting the job done. WESTRIVER MIRACLE was brave first-up in a 78+ when parked deep throughout. Always there abouts. SENTIMENTAL HERO looks better suited at 1600 after being run off his legs fresh. BIRDIEAGLE gets a lovely run. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – FALCON TRADER EACHWAY RACE 6 YONGA LASS is a remarkable mare. She was a last start 1800m winner resuming over 1000 and was able to 1) show enough speed to breeze; and 2) hold off the late charge of her rivals. Up to 59kg in a race with plenty of depth but she’s seemingly still improving which is daunting for rivals. TRIPLY JAY was massive last start when three deep the trip, however, he’s every chance of doing it tough again from barrier 9 of 12? DUCHESS OF GOSSIP has had genuine excuses at both runs this preparation. She’s more than capable. PULI can sustain a high speed in front and will look to get them chasing a long way out. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – YONGA LASS WIN RACE 7 HIBISCUS LADY trialled like a bomb and then didn’t let her supporters down first-up when producing a dominant fresh win. Second-up she finds another race where she can park on top of the tempo and see no reason why she won’t be hard to beat again. The way she won first-up she should be a great eachway bet in an even race. ABLOH wouldn’t want it to be too wet by the time Race 7 comes around because he’s failed previously on Soft7 ground, but it’s hard to argue with the way he’s going at the minute. DOCTOR JAY and PLAYING GAMES are both lightly raced and progressive 3 year olds who have barriers to work with and plenty of upside. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – HIBISCUS LADY EACHWAY RACE 8 BRAVE SPIRIT was too good for the majority of these in the Raconteur Stakes, a race which was run a staggering 6L faster than average. The first 1000m was run in 59.38 (Bayezid won the 1000m race on the program in 59.26!) and they were all gasping for air on straightening. He powered through the line and should be afforded a similar run in transit here. Looks hard to hold out. THE BOSS LADY was the run of the race in the Raconteur and the ‘be on me in the Guineas’ horse but barrier 16 of 16 is a bitter blow. SAPPHIRE STREET was 6 weeks between runs and should only improve. LUVNWAR should get every chance from the draw. Numbers: 2 – 13 – 12 – 14 Suggested Bet – BRAVE SPIRIT WIN RACE 9 BERBERE was backed as if unbeatable first-up over 1000 but missed away and then got caught up in traffic turning for home. Love the way he attacked the line over the last 150 once clear and think that he’s better suited stepping out in trip and he drops 3kg at the same time. Capable of holding a spot closer to the speed and with clear air he should take holding out. Pike in the last on a day he starts a suspension…watch out. MISS DRAKOVA comes through the same race and meets him 1.5kg better after the claim for Luke Campbell. NOTEWORTHY has returned to racing in brilliant fashion. Just needs a big steer from a horror draw. DEAMBER has won her last three and trialled super for her return. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – BERBERE WIN Quaddie (Races 6 – 9) 3,5,7,8,11 1,3,4,5,8,9,10 2,12,13,14,15 6 Market Market
