Scott Embry’s Wednesday Pinjarra Preview Posted on January 16, 2024January 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FIRE THE GUARD ran third on debut behind stablemate Snippy Which and emerging star galloper Esprit Garcon. Ran second at his second career outing behind Choixway when held up momentarily on straightening. Recent trial was an awfully slow time but he shot away impressively and now has blinkers on for his first-up assignment down the straight. Looks hard to beat. SAFEKEEPER hit the line powerfully to win her most recent trial behind free wheeling leader Chino La Diva. SUNBRONZED actually beat home SAFEKEEPER in their trial at Lark Hill and David Harrison’s horses fly down the straight five course. CHINO LA DIVA wanted to run at trials. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – FIRE THE GUARD WIN RACE 2 LONDON’S IMAGE would have been on a 7 day back-up had the races gone ahead last weekend, thinking she’s a big winner out of the race movement and now has had an extra 3 days to recover as she heads in to her second-up assignment. Would have been ridden by a senior on Saturday but on Wednesday instead has the 1.5kg claim of Victoria Corver and looks like she’ll appreciate the step to 1200m. BIG SHOTS was big on debut behind undefeated galloper Onemoretwomany. Lead them up and faded last start but that race did contain dual subsequent winner Sinful Living. Went up $14 for Saturday, goes up $6.50 for Wednesday. Transferred meetings hurt. POINT OF CONFLICT looked professional in her only public appearance at trials. TAKE YOUR CHANCES makes her debut off a 400m jump out. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – LONDON’S IMAGE WIN RACE 3 MADE IN MEXICO got tongues wagging at trials leading into his debut when running third, but narrowly beaten, at the hands of Charlie Jane and Bolta. That form hasn’t exactly stood out in the 4 month period since but he was again highly impressive at trials when cruising around in second gear. Looks a smart animal. DEFERRED burst clear to win by a margin at Belmont trials and if she can reproduce that turn of foot on race day will be hard to hold out. PRINCESS IN RED skipped clear at trials and won by 5.5L eased down. Has to be respected off that effort. SEVEN IRON kept coming in the trial and showed ability in his first prep. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 14 – 2 Suggested Bet – MADE IN MEXICO WIN RACE 4 ELITE FASHIONS couldn’t reel in Memory Parade last start, but we’ve already seen King’s Call win out of that race. She’s drawn to get another gun run and she’s knocking on the door. Should run another honest race. WESTERN POWER comes through a maiden run 11L faster than average. It is the highest rating maiden recorded at Pinjarra for the last 2 seasons so expect that there will be plenty of market support around for him. Add blinkers, add Pike and he could be a plunge horse. PAPAVERO PRINCESS was skittled at Geraldton first-up and then savaged the line second-up. She’s the logical danger and with even luck in running will be charging home late. BUZZ SESSION caught the eye on debut. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 8 – 13 Suggested Bet – ELITE FASHIONS WIN RACE 5 MEMORY PARADE jumped quickly at Belmont on debut and found the front. From there she never gave them a look in and won impressively. Carries 55kg after the claim and finds a race where she could probably lead them again. Looks a capable filly. NOD AND SMILE comes back into a C1 for the first time in his life after contesting 5x 60+ Graduations, 1x 66+ and a C3 since breaking his maiden at Pinjarra by the length of the straight in April 2023. If he can overcome the wide draw he’s the one to beat. PLAYING RIO has always looked like the kind of horse who could go through the grades. It took him a (relatively) long time to break his maiden but now that he’s done so it would be no surprise to see him go back to back. SILVER BACK JACK found the line well at his return. Numbers: 13 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MEMORY PARADE EACHWAY RACE 6 MADAME MAGIC was one of the more visually impressive wins you’ll see at C1 level at her return to racing. If you take away her wet track failures last preparation then she’s shown she can match it with them at 3yo 0MWLY and C3 grade previously. Looks like she’s in for a great preparation and if she can reproduce that same turn of acceleration second-up she should have the firepower to sit back and zap them again. TAWKIN’ JIBBERISH can stay out of trouble and lead this field. Still a bit raw and new but fought on well last start at her first attempt at 1200m. Jumps, controls and kicks hard into the corner. SENTIMENTAL BELLE continues to find one or two better than her. Thought she had her chance last start. NO DICE has to lump 60kg which might be on her limit but she’s well placed back to C3 grade. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – MADAME MAGIC WIN RACE 7 SNIPPY WHICH looks the winner. If he goes up in black figures expect he’ll jump in red figures. Just looks an ideal set up for him to continue his way through the grades and eventually head back to Saturday company. Won with a level of authority last start and once he hits top gear he can really clock some slick closing sections. Pike the ideal rider and provide he isn’t held up behind tiring horses from barrier 3 expect that he’ll win again. SWEAR TO GOD had excuses last start when held up for clear running from leader’s back in a slowly run 1000m race. Jury is still out on exactly where he’s at. CRYSTALAA brings intrigue at his WA debut. VITAL GEM gets back but is always running on. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – SNIPPY WHICH WIN RACE 8 HERE FOR CHEQUES couldn’t quite get past Filthy Habits last start when angled back inside horses for a rails run. He’s going really well and if Holly Watson can get him across to park just off Go Go Grommet then he’ll run another big race at an eachway price. BONJOY found the line nicely at her return to racing and Jason Miller throws a set of winkers on. She’s lightly raced and she’s more than capable of winning better races than this. Expect she’ll be popular with Pike going on. NERO KING just didn’t want to be there last start. He refused to proceed to the barriers, he didn’t jump, he didn’t travel and he certainly didn’t let down. Hopefully Pinjarra is more to his liking. SNAZZLER covered a stack of additional ground last start and was brave in defeat. Nice bit of weight relief here for him. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – HERE FOR CHEQUES EACHWAY RACE 9 WILD BELLE probably should have won the Summer Scorcher. Take nothing away from Ghost Who Walks who showed yet again that he’s an under-rated 1000m specialist but watching the replay it’s hard to ignore Wild Belle. She looked like she was about to explode but there was simply no room for her and she’s blundered and gone to the line under a hold. Second-up, out to 1200m and Pike jumping aboard she can make amends. GEMMA’S SON was a real winner at the re-draw of the barriers. All of a sudden he’s drawn inside of Real Danger and can take up a prominent spot. Keep safe at odds. REAL DANGER doesn’t know how to run a bad race and will keep kicking on speed. IT’SARAYDAY never got a clear run at them at any stage in the Summer Scorcher. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – WILD BELLE WIN RACE 10 ESPRIT GARCON is one of the more exciting gallopers in WA. This is a big step up for him, running down Bigdayonit is a lot different to clashing with the likes of Duchess Of Gossip, Brave Venture, Leniency and Sunny Honey but expect that he can come through this successful and stamp himself as one of the more promising emerging talents. He’s all X-Factor – he travels like a beast, he lets down in neutral and he looks like he’s just going to keep improving with racing. Scary. DUCHESS OF GOSSIP was enormous last start with 59kg when three deep the trip. Another really tricky draw? BRAVE VENTURE let rip with a big turn of foot to score first-up. SUNNY HONEY is proven at this grade. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ESPRIT GARCON WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 6 FD 10 7 Market Market
