The Scout: Women’s World Cup Matchday 7 Posted on July 26, 2023July 26, 2023 | Posted by The Scout Group C – Japan v Costa Rica Japan did their qualification hopes a world of good with a thumping 5-0 win over Zambia and they will be confident of claiming another three points here. Hinata Miyazawa scored twice and was very impressive and will again be part of a potent front three that also features Aoba Fujina and Mina Tanaka. Goalkeeper Daniela Solera did her best to keep the score down against Spain, registering ten saves, but Costa Rica still lost 3-0. A second defeat would likely mean early elimination so coach Amelia Valverde may opt for attack as the best form of defence to try get a result. Japan to win @ $1.07* Group C – Spain v Zambia Spain looked superb as the cruised to a win over Costa Rica in their opener, and coach Jorge Vilda is expected to stick to the same starting line up. Superstar Alexia Putellas was given 14 minutes off the bench last time out as she gets back to full fitness and should be an impact substitute once again. The heavy defeat at the hands of Japan leaves Zambia with a mountain to climb in the group. They go into this game without goalkeeper Catherine Musonda who is suspended. The African side failed to register a single shot last time out, and they may find it equally difficult against an excellent opponent. Spain to win @ $1.02* Group B – Canada v Republic of Ireland Canada stalwart Christine Sinclair will be looking to bounce back from her missed penalty in the 0-0 draw with Nigeria. Jessie Fleming of Chelsea could be a welcome return to the side having recovered from injury. More will be expected from striker Jordyn Huitema as the Canadians try to unlock a stubborn Irish defence. Vera Pauw’s Ireland performed admirably against hosts Australia but have no points to show for their efforts. There have been calls for 18-year-old Abbie Larkin to feature more prominently in an attacking approach, while key defender Louise Quinn has been on light duties at training this week. Ireland’s issue is scoring goals, but they will have massive support behind them in Perth. Draw @ $3.45* Multi Japan v Costa Rica – Goal in both halves Spain v Zambia – Spain to win to nil Canada v Ireland – Draw @ $6.24* *Odds correct as at 9am, 26th July 2023. Market Market
