Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on March 21, 2023March 21, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AUGMENT has only been seen publicly once at the trials and it was over 950m when weaving her way through traffic, balancing up in the last 50m and lunging at stablemate Seeyouatthesession. Hails from one of the most powerful juvenile yards and is being presented at the same time as all the ‘good ones’ as we warm up for the Karrakatta Plate. Barrier is tricky but both Belmont Park and 1200m are forgiving. Looks to have plenty of upside. SEEYOUATTHESESSION trialled in blinkers, travelled strongly and was hardly asked for an effort. He can park up over the speed and looks one of the main dangers. HAPPY AS LARRY has race experience on his side and his runner-up performances behind Shaddow Fear and Snow Prince read up very well for a midweek race. SAPPHIRE STREET gets a soft run along the fence. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – AUGMENT WIN RACE 2 DESENNEA and BECALOTTI are both very impressive last start maiden winners. DESENNEA trialled the house down when running past first-up winners Stormy Tawny and Deep Envy and then took it to the races when accelerating past them on straightening and pulling away for a soft debut win. BECALOTTI ran home in the fastest closing sections of the race on debut and then found the front last Wednesday when putting on a galloping exhibition. Looked good to the eye and smashed the clock (4L faster than maiden average). DESENNEA has the barrier to work with and can sit midfield with cover. Like the way he goes about it. BECALOTTI will likely look for the breeze outside of speedy filly Beach West. If she gets to the breeze she’s hard to run down. FINCHY has a short, sharp turn of foot and enjoys a soft run. ONE COOL GAL is better than what she showed last start. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DESENNEA WIN RACE 3 PLATINUM CLASS backs up off 7 days after finishing third behind Desert Nymph and Just A Rumour. She got past Snippenova late in the race and think she might be better suited out at 1200m. Enjoys a very similar run in transit from a favourable alley and in a capacity line-up of maidens she’ll likely go round an eachway quote. Open race, deep race and she’s one of many chances. SHE’S IMMENENT really caught the eye on debut, had no luck at start number two (behind subsequent winners Supportive and Becalotti) and then ran through the line behind Noteworthy and Yonga Lass. Ready to win. BIRTHDAY BALLOT was only fair last start but gets weight off her back and can track into it three deep with cover. UNDER INFLUENCE has shown ability at trials. Numbers: 11 – 14 – 13 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLATINUM CLASS EACHWAY RACE 4 SESSWA trialled like a filly who would be hard to beat first-up and the Danny Morton yard has found the perfect starting point for her preparation. When last in work she won an 1100m maiden first-up (beating Malkar Pindari and Linden Lady) and then later in the campaign won a 3 year old 0MWLY 1600 beating Missile Storm and Demolish before contesting the Champion Fillies. Looks like a moderately run sit and sprint and that suits her down to the ground. SENORITA DOROTEA sat in the breeze last start and was never comfortable at any stage. That race has produced Thomas Magnum and Prince Amongst Men so we can be forgiving of her effort. Prior runs were strong. MY FURY struck a few wet tracks last preparation, not convinced that suited her. First-up, no trial is unusual for DMac, keep safe. MILITARY BEAT is consistent. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SESSWA WIN RACE 5 CENTRAL FORCE resumes off a solid 1200m trial win. Only had four starts in his initial preparation and is only a Geraldton maiden winner but outside of his Midwest maiden win, he finished less than 3L off Saintorio and Saloon Bar, 2.5L off All The King’s Men and Saintorio (beating home Sesswa) and 3L off Sesswa, Demolish and Missile Storm. It’s good enough to gun these down. ACE COMMAND put in back to back herculean performances on top of the speed. Went back last start and never got into the race. Love to see him ridden with aggression to make them run him down. CRUISE TO VICTORY ran well last week at 1400m. ANNA’S BOY enjoys a gun run. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – CENTRAL FORCE WIN RACE 6 TWICE A FORTNIGHT looks very well placed back into a C1. Broke her maiden in a 58+ Westspeed Platinum, beating home subsequent winners Cywer and Here’s Dreaming. Went to the Westspeed Platinum Final and was far from disgraced finishing fourth. That race has produced Leica Jaguar to victory and she drops into a moderate C1. Great use of the Luke Campbell claim and provided they’re making ground she’ll be hard to hold out. COCOON BAY was the target of relentless support in betting last start. Loomed on straightening but couldn’t quite see out the mile. Back to 1400m suits. BELGRANO BELLE an improver for the new yard. COUSIN NICCI whacks away over the speed. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – TWICE A FORTNIGHT WIN RACE 7 QUEEN OF JERUSALEM and RED HOT HOPE both come through the same 60+ Graduation 1800m behind Currimundi and subsequent winner Mountain Ash. They’re both suited over further, they’re both racing well and they’ll likely be popular in this market. RED HOT HOPE has the barrier advantage and probably wasn’t that well suited to being caught up on the fence or racing around the tight Ascot corner. Gets his chance here. QUEEN OF JERUSALEM is screaming out for 2100m and Troy Turner has ridden her to victory previously. Needs room to move and is sure to get that from her wide gate. REBEL MAN has been going well all preparation and gets in with only 51kg. NIIGATA continues to try her heart out. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 14 – 2 Suggested Bet – RED HOT HOPE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,4,5 1,2,5,6,8 1,4,8 2,4,5,14 Market Market
