Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on March 21, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Forecast rain leading into the meeting could have it rated in the soft range. SIMEON ran well when supported on debut and was beaten by a talented galloper who goes around later on the program, the rise in trip appeals. VILLENEUVE was held up the entire straight first up, he looked to have a bit to offer but who knows? MON ETOILE kicks off his second campaign at a suitable distance. UMETINI and STAVANGER have some claims. Selections: 4,3,7,9 Suggested Bet: Simeon to win Race 2 A few of these met in a similar race on the Lakeside circuit recently. NOONDAY GUN was no match for PRINCE ZIGGY on that occasion but stuck on well. HE’S ON FORM worked home ok in that race and should be improved by the run at the trip. TRADUCE and VIVIDREDSKY chased a subsequent Adelaide Cup winner over this distance last time and that form reads well now. STERN IDOL is a promising jumper, he’s pretty tight in early markets but has too much upside to overlook. Selections: 2,1,8,3 Suggested Bet: Noonday Gun each way Race 3 FINAL OVERTURE worked home well first up and should appreciate 1600m. ELVEENA won the Towong Cup in great style last start and will strip fitter third up. SERENAUR is racing well and is effective up to 1600m. OUR DESTRIER drops in grade with a claim and has had some excuses at his last two. INORDINATE has a hope on the fresh side and back in distance. Selections: 9,2,4,1 Suggested Bet: Final Overture each way Race 4 WANGO AWARD looks promising, she chased well at Flemington over 1000m last start and a soft track would be no disadvantage. ORANGE EARS is building a good record, claiming the scalp of TOBAYSURE at her latest run ready well for this. LUNA CAT is racing consistently and covered ground last start. CIRCLE OF MAGIC is fit and consistent. WAY TO GO PAULA has jumped out well to resume. Selections: 9,2,4,6 Suggested Bet: Wango Award each way Race 5 Competitive race. SMASHING EAGLE was noted as pulling up with a throat condition last time, he’ll be hard to beat if right. EYE OF THE EAGLE has upside and had a confidence booster in easier company first up. OUR LONE STAR has trialled well and looks big odds in early markets. LITTLE MISS GUTSAA fought hard to win her latest run and may roll forward from the draw. STRETTO covered ground at his first run for the new stable and is capable of improving. Selections: 2,11,3,9 Suggested Bet: Including 2,11,3,9 & 4 in quaddie first leg Race 6 ROCKATAR RONNIE is an intriguing runner, he had no luck when well supported at his first Australian start and has had a hurdle school since. IRISH BUTTERFLY is racing well and drops in grade on his most recent run. ALCHIAN is gaping as through he will cope with the rise to 2400m. OMEO looks a real stayer, he obviously rises in grade but was a dominant maiden winner last start. Selections: 6,1,4,5 Suggested Bet: Rockstar Ronnie each way Race 7 Good race with plenty of links to the recent Future Stars series. WHO DARES doesn’t come through that series but broke his maiden in dominant fashion first up and the form through Berkeley Square, Bank Maur and Japanese Emperor reads well. HELIX raced well through the Future Stars series and can make his own luck. GRINGOTTS is another coming through the Future Stars and the form around him is holding up. MR TICKLES has an awkward draw but is another in this race with a bright future. Selections: 10,2,4,1 Suggested Bet: Who Dares each way Race 8 Wide finish with the potential for a decent tempo. UNUSUAL CULTURE is racing in great form and should a decent speed up front. FARETTI will be part of the speed and may prove hard to get past third up. EAGLES CRAG is lightly race but has obvious talent, he’s jumped out ok since his first up run. EXTREME FLIGHT ran well first up, a strong speed may help offset his wide draw. Flash Flood and Euro Dandy are among the other hopes. Selections: 16,9,12,6 Suggested Bet: Unusual Culture each way Market Market
