Harry Buchanan’s Perth Cup and Galaxy Heats Preview Posted on March 10, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by TABtouch This Saturday night we have three outstanding heats of the Group 1 Galaxy for the stayers over 715m and eight heats of the Perth Cup at the Group 1 level. Let’s take a look at each race to isolate a few chances. Race 1 Heat 1 of the Galaxy. The 2 Ariarne Bale is the class stayer here but first up at the track presents some risks after a long trip over. She’s short enough. Her absolute best strolls in but there are enough questions at the quote to just watch her go around. The 1 Romantic Flame, 5 Ballistic Ant and 6 Pancake Monelli all represent good smokie plays. 7 Clifton Cruz looks for the arm and the 8 It’s A Dime likewise so both need luck early but will give a sight if they get over. Selections: 2-5-6-1 Race 2 This was over last week. The series favourite in 1 Couch Surfer would need to be knocked over here for these to get anywhere near him. He’s the best stayer in WA, will be the best in Australia soon. He’s a star and should progress unless he meets first turn bad luck which he shouldn’t. Place chances to 4 West on Jilliby, 5 Moraine Suzie and 3 Speed Freak. Selections: 1-4-5-3 Race 3 Final Galaxy heat and most open. The 6 Stagger Out Lee only has to handle the track to advance and she usually likes a look first up before producing next time. Stays all day and travels well so should get through. The 3 Tsar Bell could do something at his best but is he there? 1 Big Bertha and 2 Chloe Ant can both surprise. Selections: 6-2-3-1 Race 4 First heat of the Perth Cup and down to 6 runners with the scr of Wow Shes Fast. The 2 Yahoo Serious, 8 Jimmy’s Decision should fight this out now. Both know this pace backwards and both well drawn. The 1 Refund Tux and 6 Bang, the only other minor hopes. The other two can’t win. Selections: 2-8-6-1 Race 5 The 2 Fernando Mick is a proper dog. Australian cup winner and 35 times he greeted the judge first. Handles the track and he wins. Has all the skills from start to stop. The 8 Eagle Monelli a huge threat, 1 Mick Flash well drawn and runs home and 6 Raised can do anything but has issues with the corners. The 3 and 7 are badly outclassed here while the 4 won’t keep up early to figure. Favs should sort this out. Selections: 2-8-1-6 Race 6 Anyone’s race. The way the map is this could get very ugly. The 6 Amplified will spear in quickly while the 4 Custard Monelli tries to hold up. The 3 Paddy Wants Pats is not going as well as could and has to avoid all this as well. A smokie in 8 My Time could capitalise but it’s a race with little to no confidence. The 2 doesn’t go the same here while the 1 simply isn’t up to these but could hit a top-four slot. Selections: 8-4-6-1 Race 7 Good race with a few different elements. The 7 Crumble Monelli gets his first test from a box he will have to work from. Flying though and can win. The 2 Hinto and 3 Momentum both local stars with very different preparations for this. The 3 will run on here. The 1 Knowing can go quick but can’t win but she could play a role early as can the 4 Barrio Beast who is airborne but the trip might test. The 8 Crypto Monelli is the one dog who doesn’t need everything to go his way early to figure and at the odds, he’s a chance here. Will be strong late and can stun for a top two finish. Selections: 8-7-3-2 Race 8 The 2 Kelsey Bale arrives on sublime form. Has not seen the track however and that’s a concern as is the 1 Lupini Monelli taking a step right at box rise. Class should prevail though. The 7 Robotnik and 6 Solidified will run on and can hit the frame but the 2 only needs to get around cleanly to win. Both 3 and 8 need too much luck and 4 is not racing well. Selections: 2-1-7-6 Race 9 The 3 Electrified will start short but I am still not convinced he has every trick out of the bag yet. Fast fast dog however and that will carry him a long way. The 8 Quick Smart is not here for a picnic and can repeat the win from last week. 2 Fava Monelli to run on with 1 Delphini in the minor mix. The 6 has issues up top, the 7 is brave but outclassed and the 4 simply can’t win here after not running down a short courser last start. Selections: 8-3-2-1 Race 10 Good heat, really good. The 2 Elite Machine has that “sense of timing” about him. Should have won last week and will go fast here to try and find the arm. If he does he’s the one to beat. The 6 Columbus Monelli is a huge smokie here. Up to $201 to win the final and he will be charging home here and can run serious time. Top-two player at least with any luck. The 4 Titan Blazer is all class from Vic and will be competitive with room to move. The 8 Runaway to Mars is promising and will go well but is just not there yet. Watch for future. The 1, 3 and 7 will struggle if any of the above get the necessary runs. Selections: 6-2-4-8 Race 11 What a brilliant story this would be if the 3 Granite Song could win……and he can!! Tremendous dog around this circuit and as consistent as they come. Will go fast early and hard to catch. The 1 Block Chain with the master trainer will be good here and is boxed to go well. The 2 Hurricane Taylor came back well last week and he’s a threat with his early toe. The 8 will be thereabouts but doesn’t win often while the 4, 6, 7 are all likely to struggle. Selections: 3-2-1-8 Market Market
