Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on December 27, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CRYSTAL’S DREAM looks a filly on the rise. Beaten by Defiant Diorite first-up which in an immediate reaction was a shock but that form has held up with Crystal’s Dream and Magnalee winning as well as another four subsequent place getters coming through that race. She comfortably beat home Fries With That who was very well backed to score last week and the step into a 3 year old 0MWLY isn’t an easy one to make but she strikes a small field with a number of key rivals having apprentice riders engaged. AIYZA is one of those. Big effort in the Sir Ernest Lee Steere Classic when third behind Saintorio and All The King’s Men before doing it tough last start in a 3 year old Plate. Weight the obvious concern. YARRALEA is racing well but will need to get out at some stage. WOZZECK next best. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL’S DREAM WIN RACE 2 DIRTY CHAI trialled like a filly who would be going close on debut regardless of where she went. Undefeated at trials both down the back straight at Lark Hill over 930m in August and then over 1000m at Belmont Park in December. Punters didn’t miss her in betting and hse scored a dominant and soft victory. Rises 4.5kg and 200m into a C1 1400m but looks really professional and talented. MEGAMI is yet to reproduce her dominant first-up maiden win. Pike jumps off to ride Dirty Chai and most punters will be following suit. RED CADILLAC is racing well but is drawn awkwardly. HIGH PRECISION next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – DIRTY CHAI WIN RACE 3 BISECTOR finished fourth behind One Cool Gal, Solid Gold and Fashion Stakes on debut when leading over 1200m in a 2 year old 0MWLY. Backed up 7 days later into a 1000m maiden and finished second to Jeanella beating home Universal Playboy. At start three she was only fair but immediately went to the paddock. Liked her recent trial where she looks sharp and speedy and thinking that first-up over 1100m with the rail at 11m she can find the front, kick into the corner and get away from them on straightening. BORN AND BREAD joins the yard of Danny Morton. Watching Danny work his magic on tried horses like Startrade/My Marlaina who lob at his stable gives you confidence to follow them at their first outings. QUEENS SACRIFICE has only been seen once at trials but looked good. PROMISED BRIDE is going well but the barrier is a killer blow. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – BISECTOR WIN RACE 4 REAR ADMIRAL will be all the rage after her two dominant victories. She drops 4kg down to 54.5kg and maps to get a gun run over the top of the speed. She can either kick through to lead or park just off Ginger Jones and from there this looks a great race for her. Scratched from Saturday to save for this. SEBERATE looks the value on paper. Hasn’t won for a long while but second-up last preparation in a 72+ 1100m he finished third behind It’sarayday and Liwa before finishing 3.9L off Rokanori, Em Tee Aye, Searchin’ Roc’s, Timely Outburst, All Day Session and Written Matter. He beat home Liwa, It’sarayday and Startrade that day. Keep safe. REBELZONE hasn’t been seen for 38 days but maps to get a gun run. BABY BLUES trialled the best she has in a long time. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – REAR ADMIRAL WIN RACE 5 SOLID GOLD broke his maiden in style when sweeping down the outside at Belmont Park to beat subsequent maiden winner French Chill. Went to a C1 1400 at Pinjarra and finished fourth behind Rockstar Status, Sports Talk and subsequent winner Patchwork. In fifth behind him was Night Shift who won last Thursday at Belmont to make the form look even better. Senior rider on and stable in form. RAPIDERN will be looking to reproduce the impressive jump and run display put on show at Pinjarra first-up when leading and winning. Conditions may well suit. NOBEL KNIGHT sits up on speed and improves second-up. RAIN CARD next best. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – SOLID GOLD WIN RACE 6 SPORTS TALK comes through the same Rockstar Status race as Solid Gold in Race 5 that has already produced Patchwork for victory. Last Wednesday at Ascot he settled in a different postcode to the leaders from an inside draw and worked his way through traffic late to finish fifth behind Laquetta’s Gift, Gage Roads and Rolled Gold. Happy to follow that as a form reference and the way he’s racing he’s looking for 1600m. FAR TOO STRONG comes through a stronger race than this behind Birdieagle, Mahaleo and Henry The Aviator. Best chance since joining Ross Price. SO LIKEABLE can be hit and miss but like stablemate Seeable on the weekend when he finds the top, he can be hard to run down. HEAPS OF MOOLAH coming back to 1600m is an interesting move. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SPORTS TALK WIN RACE 7 ALMAHER MAN was thrown in the deep end last start when contesting a 66+ and only finishing 4L off Perth Cup acceptors Queen Alina and Holy Enchantment. Thought he held his own considering he was a 50-1 chance coming out of a 58+ win at Mt Barker. Back in grade and sitting up outside of Decoy Noxious he can run an eachway race. CARTANERA dropped back to 1600m last start when racing outside the handicap in a 66+. Finished only 3.5L off Knot Secret and Trade War and is bursting to win another race. This is her grade, this is her distance and from the draw she should get every chance in running. GRACE DU ROI settled rearwards in a race dominated from out in front last start. She’ll get back but there should be a three deep line building. SPECIAL PICTURE continues to race consistently. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALMAHER MAN EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,6 3,4,5 1,2,3 1,3,4,5,7,8 Market Market
