Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 9, 2022July 10, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EDWARD’S CHOICE was super on debut behind Diamond Command and Bleecker Street (both run in a Saturday SWP at Belmont Park) and then was well thought of at start number two when things didn’t go right for him and he was beaten a margin. This is a lot easier than metro 2 year old racing and as we saw 7 days ago with Playthatfunkymusic it’s about the right time for these 2 year olds to take on the older horses. Expecting to see him jump and run. HOLE IN ONE finds a new home after a consistent start to his career with Adam Durrant. Logical danger to the 2 year old. PRAWNS ELEVEN brings intrigue. Only one 400m jump out back in November 2021. AMERICAN SIOUX has been around the mark her entire life. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – EDWARD’S CHOICE WIN RACE 2 CHANG MAN is starting to show a bit of consistency that was lacking through his early career. Has shown above average ability for a maiden but has struggled to put more than 1 run together. Thinking that Trevor Tasker has a handle on him now and he can go close in this to breaking through. A TOUCHY SUBJECT is always a hard luck story. Deserves to win one after a string of impressive placings. LUCIFER was an improver 7 days ago. MANTIOBA pulled up with genuine excuses last weekend. Previous run strong. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – CHANG MAN WIN RACE 3 LONG WEEKEND looks well placed to break through in WA. Two starts ago finished second splitting I’m Eugene and Mahaleo. Last weekend went around favourite in a 58+ 1100m when finishing third behind Old Bailey and Hilton. Backs up off 7 days, drops from a 58+ into a C2 and can come across from a wide gate to settle over the speed. Looks the best chance he has had yet in WA. TALK IT UP continues to be the target of big money moves. He continues to find one or two better than him. Shades go back on here, which will ensure he’s again popular. REEL SAFE can sprint well for her new stable fresh. FIRST STRIKE rarely runs a bad race but struggles to win races. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – LONG WEEKEND WIN RACE 4 BLAZING TYCOON is flying at the minute and Victoria Corver is building a strong association with him. He is the kind of galloper who just needs a clear crack at them to be hard to hold out late. Can reel off a slick L600 and provided that he is within striking distance coming back to 1100m then he is capable of sitting back and zapping them late. PROTECTED ACTION will be at the opposite end of the speed map. If the track is anything like last Sunday where it was a leader’s paradise, he’ll be hard to run down. LITTLE HERCULES has come back to racing well and barrier 1 suits a horse like him. Can bounce out and stalk. YOYOS drops a stack of weight with Luke Campbell going on. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – BLAZING TYCOON WIN RACE 5 MEET JOE BLACK has been a great acquuisiton to the Dave Smith yard and continues to run strong eachway races. Seems to go round eachway more often than not and in a race where Beaucount is likely to try and break them open at some stage he can enjoy a nice run forward of midfield. Going well enough to win this. SHOOT UR SHOT was too strong for 58+ opposition last weekend and notched his first WA win at only his second outing since joining Helen Harding. Should be able to sit up over the speed again here 7 days later and go close to repeating the dose. BEAUCOUNT is getting closer and closer to another win. The fitter he gets the more aggressive Kristy Bennett can be. SO LIKEABLE drops 6.5kg on his brave weight carrying effort last week. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MEET JOE BLACK EACHWAY RACE 6 SWEET STRAWBERRY is a nice Kalgoorlie mare. She’s suited to these 58+ type ratings races and the use of the Luke Campbell claim could be telling. She was in this grade and distance her last two starts, two start back finished third to Hilton and Shadow Boom and then last start pulled up with a few excuses. Think she gets the right run here and might get under the radar in an open and even event. HERRON SAND can be hit and miss but if she reproduces either of her first two runs, she’s nearly the horse to beat. Some connections calling for her to go to town? SOLARIZE and JAKESTAR are all of a sudden running out of chances as they struggle for consistency. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SWEET STRAWBERRY EACHWAY RACE 7 WINSALOT was a heart breaker first start for Helen Harding when looking home at $10 at the top of the straight before somehow throwing it all away. The blinkers came off at her second run and she wasn’t the same horse. Shades straight back on, back in grade and up in distance looks a nice little set up for her. Proved first-up with 60kg that weight isn’t an issue for her. SEEABLE has to also carry the 60.5kg but his run here 7 days ago was excellent when charging to the line. Versatile type but will need a big steer from barrier 13 of 13. PRINCE OF GUELPH finds yet another new home. Should be a nice horse for Kal. ALL IN A DAY ran some rippers for Colin Webster when last in work. Keep safe. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – WINSALOT EACHWAY Quaddie 2,3,4 3,4,5,6,9 2,3,4,5,7,11 1,2,3,9 Market Market
