Chris Nelson’s Eagle Farm Best Bets

RACE 3 No.4 Sweet Thomas

The two-mile Brisbane Cup will be a spectacle as we don’t get to see many races run over the longer trip these days. This Warwick Farm trained stayer was the best of good things beaten here in the Premiers Cup a fortnight back when unable to gain clear running until late. He was basically climbing over their backs ending up a tragedy beaten. Is already a two time 3200m winner and can make amends on Saturday.

RACE 6 No.3 Huetor

Zaaaki’s conqueror in the Doomben Cup run here a couple of weeks back when appreciating the step up in trip to 2100m. Natural progression is into the Q22 and should he take the same improvement into the race as he did between the Cup and The Hollindale then I can’t see him being beaten. The additional 100m is well in his favour and he’s now ticked the Eagle Farm box which is a definite positive.

RACE 7 No.16 Sheeza Belter

Filly from the west who put up a huge finishing performance to win the Sires here at her latest start. Leader Swiss Exile had bolted away with a 3 length lead passing the 200 looking home and hosed before this one appeared wide out to run right over the top. The tempo was solid which suggests she now needs further, she gets that here and can land the Group 1 J J Atkins.
