Darren Clayton’s Saturday Albion Park Preview Posted on April 13, 2022April 13, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 LOMBO HEAVEN (5) was too slippery in front over the mile two back and then dominated last week over the middle trip. Back to the mile this week, the threepeat is within reach. STREITKID (9) defeated a much stronger line up here last week, but he was able to lead all the way from the front line in a new PB. From the second line it will be tougher. PARAVANI (1) will appreciate a return to the mile and with an improved gate, maps to feature. MAYWYNS COURAGE (8) looks set to be hemmed away, but with a genuine tempo taking short-cuts can help. SELECTIONS: 5-9-1-8 SUGGESTED BET: LOMBO HEAVEN (5) to win RACE 2 BITCOIN (10) has no favours from outside the second line, but his form has been super. Game after sitting outside Will The Wizard two starts back before placing behind Streitkid last time, keeps him right in calculations. SECRETAGENT TYCOON (5) has been unable to display his best at his past three at Redcliffe. Returning to the big deck and back to this grade can be the catalyst for improvement. JUMPING JACK JIMMY (1) has early hustle and with that brings the mapping options where he should be tightened from his latest 3rd when third up from a break. COMMODORE JUJON (6) is never far from the action and always returns an honest performance. SELECTIONS: 10-5-1-6 SUGGESTED BET: BITCOIN (10) to win RACE 3 AMILLION PROMISES (1) maps for the perfect trip here, can look to protect the poles early, release, stalk the speed, then take the snipers shot up the lane. JUDDY DOUGLAS (3) loves to roll in front but does tend to be vulnerable late. Nailed in the last stride last start, he just needs to control the tempo to hang on. FALCONS (2) secures his best alley in recent outings. With a smart closing sprint, settling closer to the action is a big plus. OBI ONE (4) faces a sticky alley and securing cheap cover will be vital for his closing chances. SELECTIONS: 1-3-2-4 SUGGESTED BET: AMILLION PROMISES (1) to win RACE 4 SPEECH IS SILVER (3) looks to have found the conditions to add another AP victory to his tally, with a barrier draw advantage of his main threats. Attacking the line smartly last start, the versatility will help. DEUX EX (7) fired too many bullets at the start here last week and was out of ammunition turning for home. Despite the tough gate, he should find this grade more favourable. L L COOL J (5) may just need to do it the tradesman’s way from this alley as he searches for a sharper performance. MISTERFREEZE (2) will need to settle handy to the action which should eventuate from this alley. SELECTIONS: 3-7-5-2 SUGGESTED BET: SPEECH IS SILVER (3) to win RACE 5 MISDEMEANOR (1) draws to advantage and blessed with good speed out of the machine, looks set to secure the opportunity to dictate. MISTER DIAMOND (8) was too wide off the second line at the tight Marburg track last time. Fitter here second up, the economical trip looks ideal. WHICH HUNT (2) has been running some super races, the latest when 3rd behind Talent To Spare and should be just in behind the speed in this battle. CAPTAINS PICK (9) ran some slick time out in front at Redcliffe last start with a strong victory. The map makes this challenging. SELECTIONS: 1-8-2-9 SUGGESTED BET: WHICH HUNT (2) to place RACE 6 SPEAK THE TRUTH (3) has been super since kicking off his 3YO term, taking it to 3 from 3 on Tuesday when grinding out an impressive victory with some slick closing splits. A quartet looks attainable. TIMS A TROOPER (6) resumes from a freshen since his last appearance when midfield in the NSW Derby behind Leap To Fame. The gate is the dampener. BEACH MAGIC (5) has been chipping away without much fanfare, but lines up here with 3 wins in his past 5. RACY ROXY (7) is stung from gate 7 off the back of an error here on Tuesday. Back to her own age will suit. SELECTIONS: 3-6-5-7 SUGGESTED BET: SPEAK THE TRUTH (3) to win RACE 7 THE DARLING (1) has yet to miss a cheque in 7 Qld starts. Huge in defeat last week when 3rd to Big Wheels, she gets back to mare’s only company and is the one they have to beat. BETTOR ROMANCE (9) set the speed last start but was gunned down in the latter stages. Needing to chase this time, she has the edge on the remaining rivals. BLAZE COOPS (7) will face a task from the outside paint but was strong to the line last week from this same alley behind Princess Danica. CATCH PHRASE (8) maps for the perfect trip in behind the speed, where a podium finish beckons. SELECTIONS: 1-9-8-7 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1 / 7-8-9 / 2-7-8-9 RACE 8 BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (1) can build off the back of her last start victory where she dominated her own sex, appreciating a return to headquarters. At her best out in front, #LeaderPeter can do his thing. BOMBADIER JUJON (8) has not had much go his way this season but gets a chance to turn it around here, stalking the speed waiting to take his shot. ROCK BOTTOM (6) faces a tough gate but has been in nice touch, including a placing from a wide gate last start. INFATUATION (7) franked his form with another victory last start up the passing lane. The gate hurts. SELECTIONS: 1-8-6-7 SUGGESTED BET: BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (1) to win RACE 9 TAM OSHANTER (9) saw his chances extinguished last start in the Trotters Marathon when making an error. Winning his previous 6 in succession, he can atone. VAN SANK (8) has been sparingly raced this season with just the three appearances. Stepping to the front and never headed last start back in mid-February, he opened the pipes in a recent trial. GEE UP NEDDY (7) will be fitter after his first-up effort in the Marathon where he set the tempo and fought on gamely to finish 4th. MORE SHADES OF GOLD (6) is a questionable character from the tapes but was strong last time from the mobile to lead throughout. SELECTIONS: 9-8-6-7 SUGGESTED BET: TAM OSHANTER (9) to win RACE 10 THE GROGMOTHER (2) secures her best gate to date for her third career start, having placed in both runs. Finishing 3rd here on Tuesday, the race experience assists her chances. FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (3) is on debut and the market will help tell some of his story. With a pair of smart trials, he certainly looks to be above average. EMPRESS BYELINE (5) can boast a race win, a claim that none of her opponents here can after leading throughout last start. The gate makes it tricky. FREYA (1) made an error on debut here Tuesday, but a shaper effort would not surprise. SELECTIONS: 2-3-5-1 SUGGESTED BET: THE GROGMOTHER (2) to win Market Market
