Scott Embry’s Good Friday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 13, 2022April 13, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PEDAL POWER looks like giving fledging trainer Justin Robins his first winner. The Nicconi gelding charged to the line at his WA debut to get within half a length late of Bella Sprite and looks a progressive animal in the region. The extra 100m suits and he can get Good Friday punters off to a flyer. SATURDAY SINNER looked home and hosed first-up in WA for Nick Carocapo. Lead for 1198m before being swamped on the line. Rises 3kg with Angela Johnston making the difficult decision to abandon ship and side up with Justin Robins. Won’t be a maiden long. Logical danger. ISHINCA VIEW continues to loom and peak. BASILS DREAM will find this easier than the metro runs. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – PEDAL POWER WIN RACE 2 SO LIKEBALE should prove too strong for his 1400m maiden opposition here. Brock Lewthwaite’s yard in on fire and So Likeable looks a perfect Kalgoorlie horse. He rolls to the top, controls the tempo and then gives a kick on straightening. Think that Chris Nicoll can work his way to the fence from the outside gate and from there he looks awfully hard to run down. A TOUCHY SUBJECT ran some ripping races towards the end of the 2021/22 season and the first-up run showed that they were no flukes. TALKABOUTYOU is always there abouts as is stablemate ILZAAAM. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SO LIKEABLE WIN RACE 3 SWEET STRAWBERRY put in a ripper first-up when finishing third behind Alien From Mars (subsequent winner) and Garage Days (subsequent winner). The second-up run was horrendous and she tailed off to finish a distant last. Drops from a provincial C3 back to a Country C2 and has run well at Kalgoorle in the past, including finishing third to once promising mare Herron Sand with 62kg. Great race for her on paper. SHADOW (KA)BOOM gave Gary Bowen and his loyal following a collect to remember when plunged in betting first-up and overcoming a torrid run to prove too strong and too classy. Those who got the cash first-up will again be backing themselves here. BELLA SPRITE won her maiden well and then didn’t have the same zip in her legs second-up. The claim definitely helps dropping 3.5kg. FIRST MOMENT can show glimpses. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – SWEET STRAWBERRY WIN RACE 4 OUR DANNI loomed to Pure Magnus quickly fresh and then peaked on the run late and faded back into second. Second-up, fitter, Pure Magnus drawn awkwardly and a good deal of tempo in the race, thinking that Our Danni can turn the tables. Looks a nice assignment for a sit and sprint mare like her. PURE MAGNUS has been a great ride for young apprentice Cassey Martinan as she learns her craft. Has been able to find the front and control at his last two. Doubt he crosses Protected Action or Sauvegarde here and that makes it much tougher. SAUVEGARDE has been up for a while but gets a freshen after the end of Esperance. REBEL YELL is honest and consistent. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – OUR DANNI WIN RACE 5 TAHITIAN RED returned to racing well breaking her maiden and looks even better suited stepping out in trip. Gary Bowen’s yard is on fire in the early parts of the season and from the barrier she should get a similar run in transit. Could easily go back to back. IT’S A LANCE was legless in the market first-up and ran accordingly. Thought his trial was sound and his race form when last in work wasn’t too bad at all. Willing to forgive and forget. BRONCKS showed something for the first time since arriving in WA. Hit the line really well in a 58+ and drops back into a C2. Keep safe. LINCOLNS LAW will get a gun run along the fence. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – TAHITIAN RED WIN RACE 6 MEET JOE BLACK returned really well for Dave Smith in what turned into a stable quinella. The leaders went silly in the early and middle stages of that race and both Meet Joe Black and Lil Ses were able to swamp them late. MEET JOE BLACK is best known as a leader and from the outside gate expecting noted front running rider Simone Altieri to be looking for the fence. Great first-up run and a more suitable 1400m second-up. COLD AS COLD can be hit and miss but when he’s firing on all cylinders he’s a more than handy Goldfields/Great Southern galloper. He is in form at the minute. DALGARANGA is getting closer and closer. EMERALD ROSE bolted in last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MEET JOE BLACK WIN RACE 7 LIL SES has been a revelation since arriving at Dave Smith’s yard in Kalgoorlie. Came up a maiden and has since won four races including a big first-up win in an 1100m 58+. He is a winner out to 1600m so for him to show that turn of foot fresh at a sprint trip suggests that she’s ready to go through the grades this campaign and progress to a 70+ type mare. Just needs an ounce of luck from the inside gate. KAKADU finished third behind Pure Magnus and Kallaroo first-up in a 64+ and now drops back into a 58+. Logical danger. WHIM CREEK is drawn awkwardly but going well. TOWN HALL was a big improver second up. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – LIL SES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4,7 FD 2,3 3,4 Market Market
