Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 10, 2022February 12, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SYMPHONY IN RED was a super impressive trial victory and from the draw should get a similar run on race day to where she won from in the trial. Always hard to line up the trailers against the raced brigade but thinking that she will measure up and being from a smaller stable likely holds up an eachway quote throughout betting. FIORUCCI MAMA got under the guard on debut. The first jump out was strong and then was just left flat footed when sharp leader Loopy’s Baby skipped into the corner. Great use of the claim. HEAR MY PRAYER was kept safe in all in markets for the 2 year old Magic Millions. Expect a bold debut. REJUVA KING was badly held up at trials and then attacked the line full of running. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – SYMPHONY IN RED EACHWAY RACE 2 ALIEN FROM MARS really attacked the line first-up over 1000m and second-up looks really well suited stepping to 1200m. The meeting at which she resumed was awfully hard to make any ground and she was the eye catching run in behind the leaders. Has a turn of foot and should track up well midfield with cover. NATIVE CHIMES has been a great acquisition for Paige Kenney and the mare has rarely run a bad race since joining her yard. Can roll and dictate. RULELEE is going through the grades nicely and she’s won her last two in style. Looks to have really appreciated being kept out in clear air. WINSALOT improved sharply last start in shades. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALIEN FROM MARS EACHWAY RACE 3 TRADE WAR either hasn’t been able to draw a gate or hasn’t been able to get onto the right back since his first-up victory. Two defeats behind Cheval De Vaga were huge and then was equally as big last start on a heavily leader dominated program. He deserves to break through and this looks his opportunity. RIVER RUBICON will divide opinions here because he comes from a very lowly C2 at Mt Barker but the way in which he was suggests he’ll measure up. Steve Wolfe suggested in his post-race interview that there was nothing much between River Rubicon and Let’sdeal. Maps a treat and looks progressive. WHAT ABOUT MOI won well fresh. CALL AGAIN goes quick and can kick. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRADE WAR WIN RACE 4 TIME SCALE will likely opt out of the early speed battle and let the race unfold in front of her. With the likes of Express Time, Some Sort, Kramden, Kelvin and Born To Rule this is going to be a high speed, high pressure scamper and with the last crack at them Time Scale looks dangerous. Liked her first-up run in a 66+ from an impossible position and if they overcook it early she can ping late. BORN TO RULE trialled like she would be winning first-up. The barrier has thrown in a big unknown because there is simply so much speed drawn underneath. AGENT KENGSINTON comes back to 1000m and maps a treat. GUNS OF NAVARONE ran a ripper first-up and is well suited to racing in this grade. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – TIME SCALE WIN RACE 5 TRIX OF THE TRADE looked like he would put on a galloping exhibition in the Breeders Classic and at SWP the Challenge Stakes looks his for the taking. He will go round at $1.50 and he should make it five from six on paper. Well and truly above average and looks like getting the world’s best run in transit from the perfect gate. The only way he was getting beaten last start is if they turned it into a sit-sprint. They did and he was still far too good. Genuine topliner in the making. LET’SDEAL needed all the Mt Barker home straight to get the job done fresh but the further they go the better he’ll get. Like him as a horse. UNI QUEEN comes out of a weaker race but won well. FINE ROMANCE will likely settle rearward and be saved for one last sprint. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRIX OF THE TRADE WIN RACE 6 CHEVAL DE VAGA looked gone on the corner last start at a mile and somehow picked himself up off the canvas to beat off Bruce Almighty and win his fourth straight race. After the Dhurun claim he gets in with 56.5kg and that means he’s again very hard to beat in his 72+ event. Impossible to knock the way he’s going and coming back to 1400m looks a positive. Can lead or box seat and either way is hard to roll. VITAL BLAST looks to get the run he needs to be competitive here. Last two runs have been excellent and Justine Erkelens’ yard is flying. RESORTMAN has been building to a race like this and from the barrier he should get every opportunity. Racing like the 1400m is what he needs. BRUCE ALMIGHTY hits form, holds form and then will run to a near identical rating for the rest of the preparation. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – CHEVAL DE VAGA WIN RACE 7 CRISTAL DANE is absolutely humming for the new yard. Sat three deep the trip last start and then was only beaten by a horse who is flying in Double Spice. Prior to that finished second to the highly progressive Jason Miller sprinter Burnya To Survive. Should get across to breeze and from there is a live eachway hope. SPECIAL VIEW is particularly well placed by Hayden Ballantyne into a 60+ Graduation first-up. Last campaign he won a 63+ and then found himself in a Listed Hannans Handicap. Recent trial was sound enough against some nice types. SECRET DEPLOY won well on debut in a Saturday 3 year old Plate with 57kg. The fact he carries 56kg in a 60+ Graduation makes him attractive. HOW’S THE SERENITY trialled super. Might have to go back from the barrier though? Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – CRISTAL DANE WIN RACE 8 TRIPLE MISSILE has always looked a Stakes horse in the making and first-up he gets his opportunity. From the barrier he gets smothered up midfield with cover and we know that he can unleash some incredible closing sections late. Risking 8 points but in time don’t think that will matter. Looks like measuring up. AMASENUS went around a big price fresh and showed that her winter form through ratings races into the Beaufine would measure up at Ascot at the end of Summer. Get back, run on sprinting mare who looks to have more wins in the tank. HOT ZED is just a winner. Every time Lou Luciani raises the bar he clears it and whenever he does he fills the pockets of his followers at an eachway price. Remarkably underrated. KISSONALLFORCHEEKS is first-up, no trial with 60.5kg. But she is also dual Group 1 placed. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRIPLE MISSILE WIN RACE 9 GINGER BAKER is ready to win and after the claim for Laqdar Ramoly looks well suited in this. Stepped to a 72+ last start and showed that he will end up there in time with a strong third behind Cheval De Vaga and Bruce Almighty. Biggest issue for him is whether or not he steps cleanly but if he does he should land into a nice position in the capacity line-up. Enjoys a 4kg weight swing on Fashion Queen for their last encounter and this looks a great race for him. Eachway all day. FASHION QUEEN was a “be on me next start” run behind Sentimental Queen last start. Had to work through traffic and then let down powerfully on a day when it was hard to make ground. Barrier 16 of 16 makes things difficult but if they’ve been winning from three deep with cover then she will be charging at them late. PHANTA was the beneificiary of the conditions last start. Unlikely to get those on Saturday with a big SW forecast. SOWAR was good fresh. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – GINGER BAKER EACWHAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,5,7 1,3,4,8 1,2,3,11 3,7,8,9 Market Market
