Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 10, 2022February 10, 2022 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ZAZU (1) raced well last campaign and warmed up for this assignment with a nice 2nd in 1.56.8 in a recent Byford trial. He is drawn to lead and should give a great sight. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (12) won here in 1.55.9 two starts back before finishing 2nd to Ragazzo Mach and will be charging home here. PRADASON (10) is drawn to get the run of the race and should be thereabouts. CORDERO (3) is racing in career best form and can make his presence felt from this draw. Tips: 1 12 10 3 Suggested Bet: ZAZU (1) to win. Race 2 GAMBIT (2) has finished 2nd in four of his last five starts and gets his chance to break back into the winners’ circle here. He was narrowly beaten by Babyface Adda here last week and can go one better tonight. ARMA EINSTEIN (1) has been placed in his last three starts and can sit or hold the front from the pole draw. VALENTINES BROOK (4) has impressed in his three starts for a new stable and must be considered on his strong last start victory. ALTA RHETT (3) has been placed in seven of his last eight starts and won’t be far away again. Tips: 2 1 4 3 Suggested Bet: GAMBIT (2) to win. Race 3 BETTORSTARTDREAMING (4) has an amazing record when leading and looks a good chance to force his way to the top tonight. He led throughout here two starts back and will be hard to catch if he can take up that role. MACHS GOLD (1) did lead throughout from this draw two starts back and has options at the start. SANGUE REALE (3) is drawn to get a soft run just off the pace and can be dangerous. AL GUERRERO (7) was a strong winner from the breeze here last week and should be thereabouts. Tips: 4 1 3 7 Suggested Bet: BETTORSTARTDREAMING (4) to win. Race 4 TAKING THE MIKI (1) is a 3YO filly who has finished 2nd in all three starts this time in and will give plenty of cheek if she holds up at the start. SAVVY BROMAC (9) led throughout to defeat Balcatherine in 1.54.3 at her last start. She has also shown that she can run on from the rear and has the class to overcome the wide draw. SHEEZ OUR HOPE (12) ran on from well back to record a 1.55.9 victory here two starts back and will be charging home again. BLISSFULLABBEY (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be placed. Tips: 1 9 12 10 Suggested Bet: TAKING THE MIKI (1) each way. Race 5 MINSTREL (2) won the Fremantle Cup and then ran a game 5th in WA Pacing Cup after doing all of the work and he looks extremely hard to beat from this draw. PATRONUS STAR (5) ran a slashing 2nd in the Fremantle Cup and is the obvious danger. VULTAN TIN (10) ran a strong 2nd from the breeze in quick time here last week and can play a part over the staying distance. ROMAN ART (1) doesn’t have the class of most of his rivals but can sneak a place from the pole. Tips: 2 5 10 1 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (2) to win. Race 6 HAS NO FEAR (1) is known as a sit-sprint mare but may elect to hold the front in as race devoid of pressure and should give a good sight. CARRERA MACH (3) is working up to his best form and finds himself in a very winnable event. VESPA (9) is the class runner of the field who may not be at his top being second-up from a spell but can still play a part in the finish at good odds. WHOSWHOINTHEZOO (7) is capable on his night and worth including in a wide-open affair. Tips: 1 3 9 7 Suggested Bet: VESPA (9) each way. Race 7 DOC HOLLIDAY (3) won four of his seven starts last time in and indicated that he is in for another good campaign with a 1.56.8 Byford trial win. He has raced well in stands in the past and is clearly the one to beat. REGAL SCRIBE (7) was a strong last start winner and looks the obvious danger to the favourite. DISTINGUISHED TASTE (6) has been racing consistently in the South-West and can make his presence felt if he steps cleanly. CAPTURED DELIGHT (8) is racing extremely well but is better suited off the front. Tips: 3 7 6 8 Suggested Bet: DOC HOLLIDAY (3) to win. Race 8 WONDERFUL TO FLY (9) resumed with a solid 3rd from a wide draw before blitzing her rivals at her last start. She has a tough draw to overcome but is clearly the one to beat. SOVRANA (8) has resumed from a spell with two wins against easier company and is ready for the rise in class. QUEENINTHECORNER (5) led throughout for an easy victory at her last start and will give plenty of cheek if she can find the front here. PRECOCIOUS LADY (2) ran 2nd in 1.54.9 at her last start and won’t be far away if she can reproduce that effort. Tips: 9 8 5 2 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (9) to win. Race 9 BEACH START (9) has resumed with two wins in slow time against moderate opposition. He draws wide and goes up in class here but meets a lot of out-of-form rivals and he is a progressive type. BLUE BLAZER (7) disappointed at the end of his last campaign and resumes here without a trial but would win this at his best. VALBONNE (6) has been placed at his last four starts and is close to breaking back into the winners’ circle. MARQUISARD (2) wasn’t far away when 4th in a stronger field last week and has the draw to be prominent. Tips: 9 7 6 2 Suggested Bet: BEACH START (9) to win. Race 10 ROCK ME OVER (7) isn’t anywhere near his best but did run on well to finish 2nd to Valentines Brook and a repeat of that performance would see him very hard to beat against this line-up. LEAP OF FAITH (3) is capable on her night and a win would not surprise in this company. TELLMETOATTACK (1) has only battled of late but draws the pole and could be an improver. DEEORSE (2) needs all the favours but draws better tonight and can be placed. Tips: 7 3 1 2 Suggested Bet: ROCK ME OVER (7) to win. Market Market
