Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on December 31, 2021December 31, 2021 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 KEY LARGO (3) is like a gazelle out of the machine and can pounce on the lead here. Racing in top form in the latter stages of the year, his record in front is exemplary with 19 of his 21 career wins when setting the tempo over the mile. IT AINT THE MONEY (2) looks set to have the speed to cross first and then should have the sit on Key Largo. A big winner from the front in a career PB 2 runs back, he draws the right gate for his pattern. THE ROCKNROLL KING (6) held on for 2nd last start after a tough run but will be chasing from the wide gate here. The tempo will help his chances. KEAYANG MARVEN (1) is racing well but lacks early speed to hold any of these. The pegs are still a great place to be in races with tempo here at The Creek. SELECTIONS: 3-2-6-1 SUGGESTED BET: KEY LARGO (3) to win RACE 2 SWEET JEMMA (1) was fresh up last start and really attacked the line when just a half-head from the winner Spirited Belle. Wide gates have worked against her in recent starts and from gate 1 has every opportunity to cash-in. SHES KOALA TEE (8) was crying out to win a race after some nice efforts and franked that assessment here on Tuesday. Stalking the speed will have her in the position to strike. GIRL FROM OZ (9) has been in nice form in NSW heading into her first appearance since moving interstate with trainer Darren McCall. A winner at 3 of her past 4 keeps her under notice. AMERICAN FLYER (10) was luckless last start when buried in the run. The gate is not ideal, and her efforts will be tempo related. SELECTIONS: 1-8-9-10 SUGGESTED BET: SWEET JEMMA (1) to win RACE 3 DEUS EX (3) was caught behind a tiring leader last start and lost all his momentum right when he needed open road. His past 5 starts have all been from the second line with a return to the front line allowing him to take hold of proceedings in this. MISTERFREEZE (8) was a smart 2nd here two runs back behind Scarlet Babe and franked that with a swooping win last start. The second line options appeal. NURBURGRING (1) was an improved 3rd last start after being freshened with the easy trip in behind the speed aiding his place prospects. FEELINGFORARAINBOW (2) backs up from Tuesday when descending on them from gate 10 to claim victory with the improved gate in his favour. SELECTIONS:3-8-1-2 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 3 / 1-2-8 RACE 4 THE GENERAL (5) is at his best when attacking late, with his latest start coming when retreating from gate 7 in the early stages. His pattern relies on some factors falling his way, but this could be open enough for him to cash in. LOVE YOUR WORK (1) lands his best gate for some time after a strong of tough alleys. Chasing behind the flying Manila Playboy 2 starts back, gate 1 is a big advantage. LE TISSIER (6) seems better suited at the middle trip where is a four-time winner on this track. The gate further dents his chances. SOHO SINATRA (3) could be the one if he can get across to the front cheaply. He led from this gate last start when collared late and has been making steady improvement. SELECTIONS:5-1-6-3 SUGGESTED BET:THE GENERAL (5) to win RACE 5 BELLA BALL TERROR (6) will need to negotiate the wide gate and overcome a questionable record at the trip. That aside, his win was full of merit last start when sitting parked and putting them away. SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (8) will have the chance to plot his own course as the lone second line runner. A beacon of consistency, he charged home for 2nd place last start and is knocking on the door in this grade. THE HERVEY BAY (4) was first-up without a trial last start so should take plenty of benefit from the run. Tough as teak, he can do it the hard way if required. THE IDEAL DANCER (1) was a cruel beat last start when the leader caved in and sucked him back through the pack. He will need to hustle early to avoid a repeat. SELECTIONS: 6-8-4-1 SUGGESTED BET: BELLA BALL TERROR (6) to win RACE 6 SQUIRE (3) was dead game in the Redcliffe Christmas Cup last start, ensuring the winner L L Cool J earned the winners cheque with the last 800 metres strong. He gets his first crack in veterans’ grade having turned 7YO overnight, which looks favourable. SAM IS PERFECTION (7) comes out of that same Redcliffe race where he was forced to ease back in the early stages. Strong two starts back behind Scarlet Babe, the smaller field size will aid his chances. FRANCO HAMPTON (5) did have a questionable record over the middle distance but put that aside to claim his first win in this grade at this trip two starts back. JUMPING JACK JIMMY (2) is a quick beginner that will be first to the poles here but will need to be an improver to challenge for the win. SELECTIONS: 3-7-5-2 SUGGESTED BET: SQUIRE (3) to win RACE 7 COLONEL JOY (1) was beaten a football field last start in the Redcliffe Christmas Cup, but there were three critical factors against him. The track, the class and the distance were all unsuitable. Back to the AP mile and limited pressure in transit appeal. 5: 3-1-0, that is his recent record when leading on this track at the trip. KENSINGTON BILL (6) is the class runner in the field, but a lack of tempo looks to cramp his style in this contest. 3rd to L L Cool J in the Christmas Cup at The Triangle last start, he has been sectionally strong of late. LEFT A TERROR (2) has the gate to dart in behind the speed here first-up from a spell and wait for the closing shot. WHICH HUNT (4) has won two of her past three starts, the latest when charging home, with the small field suiting. SELECTIONS: 1-6-2-4 SUGGESTED BET: COLONEL JOY (1) to win RACE 8 SPEED OF SOUND (8) has proven costly to her supporters, going under as the punters elect at her past two starts. Runner-up here on Tuesday behind Shes Koala Tee who gains the start in the first division of this race, the second line options will be an asset. BUTCHERFEELGOOD (7) is a barrier rogue that continues to land the outside alley because of her manners. Aiming up for a hat-trick of wins last start when runner-up to Goalkicker, she will be swooping. DOOLITTLE DOOZZIE (1) took them all the way on Wednesday night at Redcliffe and with this not much harder, again has the favours from the ace. CALL ME TRISH (3) was surging home last start to go under narrowly as the favourite. An improved alley brings her right into contention. SELECTIONS: 8-7-1-3 SUGGESTED BET: SPEED OF SOUND (8) to win RACE 9 TURN IT UP (6) was gifted the Christmas Cup last start when allowed to stroll through the lead time in 80.3 and backed it up with an opening half of 61.3. Putting on a blitz in the last quarter made it basically impossible for the chasers. It all comes down to the opening half and how quick they run it and this race is far from as clear-cut as it may appear. IDEAL WORLD (2) may not have the hustle to repel Turn It Up, but he can at least get to the poles first and crucially, make the front a well-earned early bonus. His last win has proven to be a strong form race and he can make this race interesting. NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (3) set a new PB when successful here three starts back, burning a sub 27 panel candle at both ends of the contest. SELECTIONS: 6-2-3 SUGGESTED BET: 2-6 Quinella Market Market
