Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 24, 2021December 24, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 BEYOND THE SEA (1) led throughout to beat a weaker field at her last start. The rise in class is offset by the perfect draw and she will give a great sight. TAKING THE MIKI (8) has the best form in the race but is first-up here and has a wide draw to overcome. ALTA QUEEN (2) worked hard in the run when 5th to the polemarker at her last start but is better drawn tonight. SPORT SPORT SPORT (10) is drawn to trail the leader and should be thereabouts. Tips: 1 8 2 10 Suggested Bet: BEYOND THE SEA (1) each way. Race 2 BETTORSTARTDREAMING (7) has finished towards the rear at his last five starts when things haven’t gone his way. He may be able to bully his way to the front here and will be hard to beat if that does eventuate. INFATUATION (6) sat behind Gambit when 2nd to that pacer in a stronger field here last week and must be respected. JOE WITH THE FLOW (1) led when narrowly beaten here three starts back and has options from the pole. A BOY NAMED ROSIE (12) ran on well to finish 2nd here at his last start and will be charging home. Tips: 7 6 1 12 Suggested Bet: BETTORSTARTDREAMING (7) to win. Race 3 ALTA INTRIGUE (6) was only 4m from the winner when 6th to Wildwest in a significantly stronger field here last week. He will appreciate the massive drop in class and is clearly the one to beat. CARRERA MACH (1) has options from the pole and should be right in the finish. TYPHOON BANNER (11) was placed in five consecutive events before finishing hard on the heels of Jumpingjackmac last week and looks the other winning chance. NOTA BENE DENARIO (2) is drawn to be prominent throughout and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 6 1 11 2 Suggested Bet: ALTA INTRIGUE (6) to win. Race 4 BALCATHERINE (4) worked in the run for three consecutive placings in mares’ company before leading throughout to defeat the boys here last start. She is drawn outside her main rival but should still prove hard to beat. SAVVY BROMAC (2) led throughout to defeat BALCATHERINE (4) here two starts back and will prove too quick if she can get away with some soft sectionals in the middle stages. ANGEL IN WHITE (3) and MANDY JOAN (5) should enjoy soft runs just off the speed and could fight it out for third. Tips: 4 2 3 5 Suggested Bet: BALCATHERINE (4) to win. Race 5 MAJOR MARTINI (3) has won three of his four starts this time in and was a dominant winner here last week. He is drawn inside his main rival tonight and is clearly the one to beat. PAPINIK (5) has impressed in winning both if his starts this time in and looks a very talented type but will need some luck in running to upset the favourite. VINCENZO PERRUGIA (1) was placed here last week and will strip fitter at his third run back from a spell and will play a part from the pole. ROMAN ART (2) will sit just behind the leaders and can be placed. Tips: 3 5 1 2 Suggested Bet: MAJOR MARTINI (3) to win. Race 6 MINSTREL (10) has run strong placings from the breeze at his two starts this time in. He has options at the start and should make his presence felt. WILDWEST (2) was a brilliant 1.52.8 all-the-way winner here last week and will be hard to beat if he leads or sits close to the speed. PERFECT MAJOR (1) was only 6.5m from WILDWEST here last week after working in the early stages and looks a major player from the pole. PATRONUS STAR (3) was another who was close-up last week and is capable of winning this with the right run. Tips: 10 2 1 3 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (10) to win. Race 7 GAMBIT (6) broke through for a well-deserved victory here last week and is the one to beat despite the rise in class. SHADOW ROLL (2) led at his first run back from a spell when a game 2nd to Rupert Of Lincoln and should give a great sight. HEEZ OUR PERSEUS (4) has two wins and three placings from his last five starts and should be in the thick of the action again. BEAT CITY (8) is racing extremely well and was a good winner from the stand last week but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 6 2 4 8 Suggested Bet: SHADOW ROLL (2) each way. Race 8 IDEAL AGENT (9) won three on end to finish his last campaign and resumed with a solid 2nd to the talented Ragazzo Mach. He is drawn poorly here but looks the class runner of the field and should give a great sight. SIDSTREPO (1) is always competitive when he draws a gate and looks a major player from the pole. BALTIC ACE (3) wasn’t suited in the breeze at his last start but looks an improver from this barrier. MIDDLE PAGE (8) couldn’t get into the race at his last start but must be considered on his impressive first-up victory. Tips: 9 1 3 8 Suggested Bet: IDEAL AGENT (9) to win. Race 9 FINVARRA (9) has won seven of his 13 career starts and has run strong placings behind Jumpingjackmac at his last two efforts. He will appreciate the drop in class and is clearly the one to beat despite the wide draw. ROBBIE ROCKET (4) has a sharp turn of foot and is always capable of winning with the right trip in transit. ORLANDO BLUE (5) was an impressive all-the-way winner last start and will make his presence felt. TROOPINGOFTHECOLOUR (1) has been placed at his last five starts and can be in the money again from this draw. Tips: 9 4 5 1 Suggested Bet: ROBBIE ROCKET (4) each way. Race 10 GOODTIME PE RABBIT (1) should be ready to show his best at his fourth run back from a break and appeals as the one to beat. MAJESTIC DREAM (2) is the only other trotter off the front line and will give a great sight if he steps to the front. MY MDINA (5) defeated GOODTIME PE RABBIT (1) at his last start and actually meets him better at the handicaps tonight. NO REPUBLIC (6) is a consistent trotter who can be placed. Tips: 1 2 5 6 Suggested Bet: GOODTIME PE RABBIT (1) to win. Market Market
