Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on September 24, 2021September 24, 2021 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (4) will have to make the step up to FFA company but he has found the ideal race to graduate. Large in victory last start when sitting parked and scoring, he is airborne. JERADAS DELIGHT (1) did it upside down last start, winning first up when doing it tough in the breeze. From gate 1 she maps for the cosy trip to suit her closing speed. REPLACED EYE (6) will be fitter following a handy first up return here last week behind Turn It Up but is not helped by the wide gate. TOMMY LINCOLN (8) is going well enough to feature if he can get some favours in transit as he looks set to be buried. SELECTIONS: 4-1-6-8 SUGGESTED BET: MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (4) to win RACE 2 VIRGIL (10) had to overcome gate 7 last start when beaten a neck. Finding form recently that includes a hat-trick of victories within his past 6 outings, this is well within reach. SUBTLE DELIGHT (2) darted in behind Turn It Up last week in the FFA. Thereabouts without threatening to win at his past few, this race might just profile more to his liking than recent attempts. MISTERFREEZE (7) was big in victory last start when landing a brutal first over crush. He does not get any favours from this alley, but his win came from gate 6 last time. MAJORDOIT (1) should enjoy an easy trip in behind the speed from this alley and will find this a little easier than last time behind Will The Wizard. SELECTIONS: 10-2-7-1 SUGGESTED BET: VIRGIL (10) to win RACE 3 MAJOR FERNCO (4) will be far better suited here at the mile than last week from the 2nd line over the 2138m in a very strong race won by Deus Ex. Despite a sticky gate, he has developed some versatility. THE IDEAL DANCER (1) comes up with the options from this alley after not much has been in his favour at his past 2 starts. That had followed 4 successive placed returns. GOOD AS IT GETS (9) claimed a mid-week win here at the 2138m when too strong from the front. He will be chasing at the mile here. TEARAWAY DIAMOND (2) should be approaching full fitness after 3 runs back from a spell. With early speed out of the machine, he can roll some grenades out early. SELECTIONS: 4-1-9-2 SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR FERNCO (4) to win RACE 4 DOUG (6) can be hard to follow owing to his manners- or lack of them to be more accurate- but this is within reach if he trots cleanly. With horses in front of him at the start, he might just have a different focus and he is worth the risk. RED CASTLETON (8) was a winner under mobile conditions last start after zooming across before taking the trail. With the right trip he looms large in this. GEE UP NEDDY (7) is generally a great beginner, and he can be prominent soon after the start. The closer he settles early the further up the placings he will finish. SIR FAHRENHEIT (10) broke the track record here last week over this trip after securing the ideal run. Moving back 10m will not be an issue and he cannot be discounted.SELECTIONS: 6-8-7-10 SUGGESTED BET: DOUG (6) each-way RACE 5 KING TRITON (1) tried to lead throughout from this gate 2 starts back but was gassed up the passing lane by Keayang Marven. From the ace he has all the options for the breakthrough. BALDUCCI (2) can have a line put through his number but not the effort last week. That race claimed by Deus Ex will be a strong form reference in the next few weeks and he was wide off the track from gate 12 in that. SLICK BLASTER (3) was too strong for them last time out at Redcliffe when sitting parked and then pulling clear. The good alley will see him in the mix early. ROCKNROLL DUDE (8) maps for the cosy run against the markers and will be sniping in the stretch when the gaps appear. SELECTIONS: 1-2-3-8 SUGGESTED BET: KING TRITON (1) to win RACE 6 SAM IS PERFECTION (7) was my Best Bet last week where he had no luck and never saw space to challenge. Again, back in Veteran’s grade if can get the smallest rub of the green from the tough gate, he can atone. THE SHADY ONE (2) will strip fitter from his last appearance where he was resuming from a long spell. Only beaten a nostril in that race, he will settle handy. YOUNG CONQUEROR (1) was wide around the last turn at his latest outing when arriving for a stylish win. This is another step up but the good alley is a plus. KEY LARGO (5) is a rocket out of the machine and will likely be taking a good look here. Just 3m away last start after leading them up, he will be in the thick of it. SELECTIONS: 7-2-1-5 SUGGESTED BET: SAM IS PERFECTION (7) to win RACE 7 WATCH PULP FICTION (6) looked all over a winner here last week but somehow had to settle for 2nd behind Under Worked. Knocking on the door in this grade, he can turn the tables. TWENTYEIGHTBLACK (2) has now been in the money at his past 3 in succession. 3rd against the same rivals he clashes with here, the gate advantage is in his favour. UNDER WORKED (5) shoots for the hat-trick after his first start for the new stable delivered an immediate return here last week. This is a similar line-up. STOMPEM (4) gets back to the old timer’s grade after he found Will The Wizard too slick last time. He may need to grind it out. SELECTIONS: 6-2-5-4 SUGGESTED BET: WATCH PULP FICTION (6) to win RACE 8 STREITKID (7) has had 4 starts here at The Creek, has been in the money at all 4 and has super speed out of the machine. Finishing runner-up to Make Mine Memphis and Jeradas Delight at his past 2 starts, they tackle the FFA while this guy looks well graded in this. COURAGEOUS SAINT (3) was beaten by a gate last time but still chimed in late. He has early speed to fire the first shot and will have options thereafter. WE SALUTE YOU (1) is effective when saved for a closing shot and will be tucked away here and ready to strike. HENRY HU (2) just came up a little short last week when he couldn’t match the closing sprint from the front but was still strong to the line. SELECTIONS: 7-3-1-2 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 3-7 / 1-2-3-7 RACE 9 PEPPA BLISS (6) has really stepped up to put it together in recent starts and will be in search of 3 consecutive victories. Sectionally super in her win 2 starts back, a return to mares only company is ideal. COBBITY CASTLE (3) is the most in-form horse in the State with 6 wins in her past 7 starts. On the mid-week back-up here after a Tuesday win from the front, she has the gate advantage and just keeps stepping up. WHICH HUNT (5) has been thereabouts in these mares’ qualifiers in recent starts but finds one a little better on each occasion. The gate does not make it any easier this week. GINATIANO (2) charged home here 2 starts back for a win in a new career best mile-rate. This is tougher but her 3rd in this grade last week was full of merit. SELECTIONS: 6-3-5-2 SUGGESTED BET: PEPPA BLISS (6) to win RACE 10 LEAP TO FAME (2) comes up with the gate to put his case forward as the State’s best 2YO. Unbeaten in 3 starts since resuming from a spell, he has looked the real deal and lands the barrier favours to extend the streak. TEDDY DISCO (4) has not been since the G1 Triad Final back in July where he was ranked number 1 in the State. Nothing went right in that, while has been tuned up for the return with a pair of smart trials. SOHO CASABLANCA (1) is a newcomer to Queensland and will be returning from a spell. A tidy preparatory trial is aided by the good alley. AMAMI (5) has no favours from the tricky gate, but he was very impressive here on Tuesday when resuming from a spell. He looks a progressive juvenile. SELECTIONS: 2-4-1-5 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 2 / 4 / 1-3-5 Market Market About Darren Clayton Darren provides Racing Queensland with his expert form analysis, tips and speedmaps for all TAB races in Queensland.
