Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 3, 2021September 3, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MOGUL MAGIC should again roll to the top and from there in a very open maiden gets her chance to break through. Resumed first-up no trial (88 days between runs) this track and distance when only narrowly run down late by Yoyos when holding off Hootie Da Blowfish to secure second place. Looks as strong a maiden reference as any and from the top takes running down. SUBLIME has been building into the campaign and is getting closer and closer. ANDRIETTE has a set of shades attached and comes back to what looks a more suitable trip. AUNTY JEAN did a fair bit wrong on debut but finished off ok. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MOGUL MAGIC WIN RACE 2 AMERICAN GRIN has had a few opportunities and is certainly no star but with an extra hundred metres, a run under his belt and 14 days with MR Peter Fernie he gets one last chance as the on top selection. Doesn’t have a short sharp turn of foot, he winds up into races and if conditions are suiting the swoopers at Kal on Sunday it brings him into it. CITY INVASION will settle right over the top of the speed and be there for a long way. THE SLUG should be able to kick through and hold leader’s back. May just need further (or further North #Roebourne). A TOUCHY SUBJECT is flying and keeping the entire Tatts Club on edge. Barrier hurts but a win is near. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN GRIN WIN RACE 3 THERE’S A CHANCE has put together back to back victories for new trainer Nick Carapellotti. Won a 1600 C2 running them into the ground at 100-1 in a shock result before showing it was no fluke last start when dominating another C2 at 1760 to win soft. Steps up in grade but gets some weight relief dropping down to 56.5kg. Meets his toughest test to date but looks to be getting better and better. See no reason why he can’t extend his winning ways. BLACK COMET is extremely well weighted after the claim for Jett Stanley. Likely to be back in traffic along the fence but with a seamless passage is the one to beat. BOLLINGER BOY has proven very hard to catch over the last 6 months. Going well enough but always needs luck. MAJOR MAMBO drops out of far stronger races and is well placed into this. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – THERE’S A CHANCE WIN RACE 4 GALAHS DO ROAR is in great form for trainer Neil Dellar. Winner three starts ago under Jett Stanley when descending upon them in a 1760m C2. Since then chased hard throughout when wide the trip in a C2 1600m that was won by There’s A Chance and again found him too sharp most recently when the senior rider went on and he met with strong market support. Stays in the same grade, drops 3kg and comes back to a mile. Looks like being in the moving line three deep with cover and from there can pounce on them late. REGAL DIVIDEND is stepping out to unknown territory. Should find the front no worries. LITTLE SES was a huge win last start. If she can reproduce, she’ll be flying at them late. THREE EZE is clearly a nonny. Maps well, rates well, just doesn’t win races. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – GALAH’S DO ROAR WIN RACE 5 SWEET STRAWBERRY has a big weight to carry in this grade but is clearly the one to beat. First-up no trial in a C2 1100 at Kalgoorlie she carried 62kg and was held several times in the home straight before flashing in the concluding stages under the massive weight to finish within a length of Herron Sand and Bright Glow. Last time out she went to a 58+ and went around a $3 chance finishing a length off Pastry, Bos Taurus and Except. With even luck she can get over the top. CHAMPAGNE DIVA drops 3kg with Jett Stanley going on and should roll straight to the front. Takes running down from there with the weight. PYRO is in career best form. Forget the first 45 starts. His last 5 have been unreal. CONTESSA MEDICI is again drawn to endure a tough run. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SWEET STRAWBERRY WIN RACE 6 VITAL BLAST won a 1300m Westspeed Platinum race in early July beating Ohbeeh and then went to back to back 66+ races where splitting Giant Leap and Notorious One on both occasions. Last time out went to a 72+ and was simply outclassed yet not disgraced. The form around Notorious One, Giant Leap, La Farola should be excellent for a Coolgardie Sprint and reuniting with Shaun O’Donnell is an added bonus. Looks a nice race for him. STARALIGN has likely been freshened by MR Peter Fernie to target races like this. Pike’s booking is an indication of the stables opinion on order of preference. LITTLE FISH needs the claim but should relish being back at Kal. WATTO’S FURY doesn’t run bad races. He’ll be in the thick of it. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – VITAL BLAST WIN RACE 7 MISSILE LAUNCH returns to Kalgoorlie fourth up in the campaign. Last preparation he went into the Coolgardie Cup third up and then fourth up finished fourth in the Boulder Cup. Given an extra trial and extra run this campaign by Vaughn Sigley who is clearly trying to time his run with the stable star. Drawn a gate, back on top of the ground and down in the weights from previous 62kg imposts in the Ngawyni and Blue Spec. Most suitable race so far of the campaign and strikes a very weak field. DIVINE SHADOW is first-up at 1760m and last year was 50 days between outings into the Coolgardie Cup when flying at them late on the minimum. This year carries 59.5kg but still looks the danger. LIVING THE DREAM can roll forward to sit outside of Misty Lad and he has been screaming out for a Good4. PINK AND PURPLE has been dominating the locals recently. M68 rater in an 83+ and likely opens favourite. Risks 19 points if winning. Sums up the race. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – MISSILE LAUNCH EACHWAY RACE 8 PROZONE has turned a corner in the new stable and looks to have found a winnable race. From the barrier should position up right over the top of the speed and considering last start in a 58+ he was only beaten in the final strides by Black Comet and He’s All Mighty he has to be a live chance in a wide-open race. Old boy is turning back the clock as his trainer grows WA’s most heinous mullet. Viewer discretion is advised. BALLADEER was a strong winner last start and looks suited to tracking up the speed along the fence. BLAZING TYCOON drops considerably in weight and should land three deep cover. THRILLED has had a number of issues over the years. This is a nice race for him but it isn’t the first time we’ve said that. Numbers: 14 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – PROZONE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,7 1,2,3,4,7,9 1,2,3,7,11 1,2,3,5,8,14 Market Market
