Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on May 28, 2021May 28, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BOONDI ROCKS and WUNDERKIND both ran second last weekend in maidens. You would think on face value the form behind Iron Sharp (who was provincial placed for Simon Miller) was stronger than the surprise victory of Calling Card. BOONDI ROCKS therefore gets the nod off the 7 day back-up. Well drawn, no weight and should be given every hope by Snaggers Sardelic. WUNDERKIND is knocking on the door and likely opens favourite again. IMA BLUEBLOOD has been going well enough and hasn’t done anything wrong. ILZAAM on the fresh side an improver. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – BOONDI ROCKS WIN RACE 2 ONE FOR THE ROAD looks the clear-cut winner of this race. Fingers crossed there is a brain fade by the market framers and there’s a sniff of black figures (man can hope) because if it appears it won’t last long. Second to Fashion Queen and second to Port Beach (beating home subsequent winner Olden) looks superior form to any of these. JOLLY LACE, OCEAN CANDY, AURAE and WORLD RULER are consistent locals who will all be going close to breaking maiden status over the next 2 – 3 months. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – ONE FOR THE ROAD WIN RACE 3 JAKESTAR heads up with Brett Drury (a new addition to the Bretts) to Kalgoorlie and has great form for these C1 races. Second in a 3yo 0MWLY to Fuhrer, third in a C3 at Belmont and 3rd in a high rating C1 at Bunbury first-up last preparation to Home In Five and Airlie Queen. Jump and run type who should be suited to Kal racing. TRAMIKA has shades reattached and ran some rippers last campaign. MOONLIGHT’S REWARD was below par first-up and has since been sent back to trials. Needs the right run but is capable. GUARDED is the new Sigil. He doesn’t like the camera. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – JAKESTAR WIN RACE 4 SOLARIZE is the second of the Brett Drury runners on the program who look hard to beat. Was a first-up winner at Bunbury over 1208, second-up dropped back to 1000m into a C3 at Ascot and wasn’t disgraced behind subsequent winner Sunnysilk as well as consistent types Noble Reflection and Jag The Joker, before heading to Albany when landing a spirited betting plunge ($5.50 into $2.30). Pateman suits, Kal suits. EXCERPT won well first-up in a high pressure, high speed race at York. Tracks up the inside from the draw. PASTRY is always capable in this grade. BALLADEER raced well throughout the season at Esperance. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOLARIZE WIN RACE 5 COLD AS COLD ran third first-up in Kal behind Kentucky Love and Blooms before again running third to Alcina and Paris Report. Nothing really went right last start but the form is hot out of that race with Fingermark duly saluting for John ‘Nescafe43’ Mason last weekend. Worth forgiving the one poor run. BARTRADER hasn’t fired a shot in a long time, but is back into the right grade, drawn well, Brad Rawiller on and a tongue tie on. Looks an improver at odds. ALCINA has been a brilliant find for Josh & Freddo Brown. The gate is the concern, but she is flying. PEKO travels up to Kalgoorlie and has proven herself a lovely country ratings type of mare. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – COLD AS COLD WIN RACE 6 MR GENOA was the target of late money last start and it was astute. Ran second but in one of the best form races of recent times. Wiener Waltz went back to the provincials and ran them ragged, Magniforce went down to Belmont and beat a handy line-up in a m66+. MR GENOA stays in Kalgoorlie and if he jumps (IF) he should land a lovely stalking position. SOPHIE’S SONG looks a great acquisition for the region and more than capable of winning a few c70+ races. SPEEDING COMET has the boss riding for the first time and should have improved after 6 nights with Justin Thomas. EXCARO returns home and must be respected. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MR GENOA WIN RACE 7 THREE EZE gets one final chance. Last week looked his race on paper and Boy Hill rode him Winx. Got a stitch with 150m to go and was gobbled up by Magic of Zeus. The overall race time was 4L faster than C2 average so while the jury will be out on just how genuine he is he gets one more go here. Off 7 days, back in trip, drawn well. Now or Never (Part 2). CENSURE was run off her legs last week and with the senior on and the drop in trip she looks a danger. MAGIC OF ZEUS is quickly improving and showed grit last week. BLACKWOOD RIVER an improver. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – THREE EZE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5,6 1,2,3,6,9,10 1,2,3,6 2,5 Market Market
