Wayne Clark’s BBL Preview: Hurricanes V Scorchers Posted on December 28, 2018December 28, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark HURRICANES v SCORCHERS Sunday 30 December 2018 The Scorchers pace attack ran riot at Optus Stadium to set up a much needed first win of the series. The fast-bouncy wicket suited the home team, but conditions will be different when they take on the Hurricanes in Hobart. The Hurricanes attack includes three spinners (Botha, Rose & Short) and is balanced out with the pace of Joffra Archer, Riley Meredith and the T20 veteran, James Faulkner. The under-performing top order of the scorchers will not find batting any easier against this in-form group of bowlers. Josh Inglis and Will Bosisto added some stability at the top but it will need one of either Klinger, Cartwright or Turner to make a big score. D’Arcy Short has continued his good form from last year and with Matthew Wade, Ben McDermott and George Bailey looking dangerous, the Hurricanes again are capable of very competitive score on their home pitch. Captain Ashton Turner will again be looking to Jason Behrendorf, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jye Richardson to put on power-play pressure and take early wickets; however, I’m not sure the pitch will provide the same assistance. It will mean Ashton Agar and the skipper himself, will need to step up. If this game was at Optus Stadium, I would be picking the Scorchers, but I still have concern with the Scorchers batting on the lower, slower wickets. I will be hoping for a Scorchers win but the home ground advantage sways my tip to the Hurricanes. Tips Winner: Hurricanes ($1.95) Hurricanes Most Runs: Ben McDermott Scorchers Most Runs: Michael Klinger Hurricanes Most Wickets: James Faulkner Scorchers Most Wickets: Andrew Tye Odds correct as at 9am, 28th December 2018.
