Scott Embry’s Broome Cup Day Preview Posted on August 17, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 CARD KNIGHT has not won a race for over 700 days but on paper this is his race. Comes from superior form and draws to perfection. CLEVES WATCHING went down to a maiden on Tuesday but this is another weak race. AMUSIUM BALLOTI is new to Broome but proven in the dirt. FROM FIFTH fought on alright and backs up off 4 days. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: CARD KNIGHT WIN Race 2 RAKNIKAR was a huge drifter in the market last start and was unable to reel in Lowlands Boy. This race is even weaker and blinkers could be the difference. FRANK’S REWARD finally broke through for a deserved maiden win and this is a perfect opportunity to make it two on the bounce. HANDYMAN is still racing well below his best. LITTLE SINCERO will look to hold leaders back if he can jump. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: RAKNIKAR WIN Race 3 MAYBE ONE MORE has had 31 chances to break maiden status so naturally we proceed with caution however that maiden form behind Shrewd Gamble does look strong now. RICARDO ROCK comes from the same race and will be improved for the experience. UNCLE CON is new to Broome and tends to race off the speed. HAIL CAESAR goes round a big price and improves sharply if jumping and leading. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet: MAYBE ONE MORE WIN Race 4 SHREWD GAMBLE took 26 starts to win one but this race is of similar to lesser quality than the maiden field he beat. ONE MORE THAT’S IT finished 3 lengths off a pretty handy Broome pair on Tuesday and Altieri on is always positive. SAX ON QUE did well to finish within 8 of Sense of Denial when racing in a 58+ last start. EXPRESS LIES needs luck racing off speed. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet: SHREWD GAMBLE WIN Race 5 STAR OF VEGAS did the exact same thing last year when successful. Scratch from the Cup to win the consolation staying race. Gets back but could charge over them late. TOM ALMIGHTY doesn’t like winning. He won’t get a better chance than this to win another. PLANET EARTH bolted in last start and will look to lead and roll again here. EMPYREUS will lose all chances if he bombs the start yet again. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet: STAR OF VEGAS WIN Race 6 CORPORATE STRATEGY would not have been out of place taking on the Broome sprint field on Tuesday. Peter Hall on, in form stable, gun draw. RED GLOW was far from disgraced beaten 3L Tuesday and can lump the weight. EMJYE has hit form in the outer country circuit, draw hurts. OCEAN DIGGER got the cash on the quick back up last year. No surprise to see him give a big sight. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet: CORPORATE STRATEGY WIN Race 7 GLORYLAND turned around approximately 47 lengths on strict times assessment last start when bolting in. Is a different horse for Simone Altieri and looked destined to go back to back in the cup. DIAMOND TONIQUE will no doubt look to take full advantage of the barrier draw and make them work to cross him and then pop off. I’M A BLUEBAGGER is honest and will make this a true staying test. TELL ME THIS is one paced and will stay all day. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet: GLORYLAND WIN Race 8 ANDREINI was a big run to win last start. Looks like he will appreciate racing at a mile at this stage of his preparation and has the strong Chin Strap form from two starts ago. LOWLANDS BOY will relish every since of the trip and beat the same horse home as Andreini last start. QUITE REGAL has not fired a shot this preparation but also has not had the services of Peter Hall. AUSSIE JACK backing up from Tuesday has undeniable claims. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet: ANDREINI EACHWAY Quaddie 1,2,5 2,3 1,2 3,4,5,8,11 Market Market
