Wayne’s Preview – Renegades vs Scorchers Posted on December 28, 2017June 7, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Friday 29 December, 2017 What a game this will be – a top of the table clash and if it is anything like last year’s corresponding game, where Ashton Agar hit a six off the last ball to win, we’re in for a treat. Both sides are undefeated; batsmen are in form and bowling attacks confident of restricting teams to low scores. The Scorchers have yet again shown the fighters they are by protecting what looked a moderate score against the Stars. No bowler conceded above 30 for their four overs with Tye and Johnson again proving the difference. If there is a chink in the Scorchers armour at the moment, it is the loss of early wickets. Luckily Cartwright, Turner and Voges have provided middle order sanity, however they won’t get away with it as the tournament progresses. The Renegades, who I originally selected to win this tournament, are well balanced with White, Cooper, Harris & Finch looking very strong at the top. The bowling of Bravo, Hogg & Wildermuth has also proved effective on the slower eastern states wickets. In a game where the bowling may again be dominant for both teams, the key will be positive top order batting when the ball is hard. Should this be the case, I’m backing the Renegades in a toss-of-the-coin contest. Suggested Bets: Winner : Melbourne Renegades at $1.67 Scorchers Most Wickets : AJ Tye at $3.20 Scorchers Most Runs : Hilton Cartwright at $4.50 Renegades Most Wickets : Dwayne Bravo at $3.20 Renegades Most Runs : Cameron White at $4.40
