Scorchers vs Strikers Dec 21 Posted on December 21, 2015January 29, 2016 | Posted by Wayne Clark SCORCHERS v STRIKERS It’ll be a sell-out at the Furnace and why not!? The reigning champs go into this game with a full squad to choose from and due to the international schedule this may not happen often so the Scorchers must take full advantage. Batting-wise a top six of Klinger, S Marsh, Voges, Carberry, M Marsh and Willey gives the side experience, talent and flexibility. In previous seasons they have shown a tendency of trying to keep the left-hand/right-hand combination at the crease (if Klinger gets out Voges replaces him; if S Marsh is dismissed the left handed Carberry replaces him and so on). It’s been successful in the past so expect it to continue. Also expect Willey to be thrown up the order as he is one of the most powerful hitters in the game and knows how to clear the boundary. The Scorchers bowling options are aplenty with Coulter-Nile and Behrendorf leading the charge. Hoggy again will have the crowd chanting and if he can maintain his form from BBL04, will have a huge influence on this game. The Strikers batting is dangerous with the early hitting power of Simmons and Ludeman a major key to a successful total. Add the skills of Jayawardne, Head (202 from 120 balls v WA in the Matador Cup earlier this year), plus veterans Hodge and Ross; they look a formidable combination. But I believe the Scorchers with a full strength team and inspired by a parochial home crowd will win!
