Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on September 7, 2016September 8, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 CAIPIRINHA looks a class above these and should be breaking her maiden tag. In her two career starts she was placed in the Gimcrack and finished on the heels of the placegetters in the Karrakatta Plate. She’s trialled in terrific order for this first-up assignment. SWIFT PLATINUM has run well in both career starts and should get a nice trip from gate 2. TRANSITIONAL is searching for the 1200m. RED NOIRE can improve with the blinkers going on. Numbers – 3 – 1 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – Caipirinha win RACE 2 ANDI’S BOY should almost be nearing fitness at his third run back from a spell. He drops in class, can lead and give a sight. MYSTIC DUST has a horrible strike rate however she’s on the quick back-up from Saturday where she was fair in the Apprentices Cup. GRINDABELLA is consistent and is another who can race on the speed. QUEEN OF TEASE improves off her run at Pinjarra and only carried 52.5kg. Numbers – 1 – 6 – 3 -7 Suggested Bet – Andi’s Boy win RACE 3 DELICATE MISS looks very well placed in this midweek sprint. Expect her burn over from her wide gate to lead or breeze and take some catching with just 54kg on her back. GOLD SHIMMER was impressive first-up winner. He gets a soft run from a good draw and looks the danger. STUB ‘N’ COW is always a chance at this level and Pike rides. FEINT DANCER next best. Numbers – 3 – 5 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – Delicate Miss RACE 4 ATARENZA can improve sharply on his last start effort where he got lost back in the field in a race dominated by speed horses. He’ll appreciate the drop in back to 1200m and if horses with cover are suited then he’ll run very well. FIRST TRADE will try and burn over from a wide gate. If she crosses and can control she’ll take some catching. DÉTENTE resumes without a spell. She’ll park in behind the speed and has claims. ROTANA BEACH has trialled solidly for her return. Numbers – 1 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – Atarenza and First Trade RACE 5 BIG CAROLINE has been in career best form this campaign. She drops back to 1200m however she’s rock hard fit and will get the run of the race from gate 2 with Pike on. HOPETOUN flies fresh and has trialled solidly for her return. PIC’S PRIDE has a forgettable run first-up when she was wide on a heavy track. She can improve. REMEMBER BERLIN will lead and give a sight. Numbers – 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – Big Caroline save Hopetoun RACE 6 ALL SETTLED looks very close to another win. He has found the line well in both starts. If he can cross from his wide gate he takes some beating. STEP RIGHT UP hasn’t won a race since his second start which was three years ago however Harvey goes on and he is the one who could break the drought. ANOTHER MAORI BOY looks the other winning chance. TOMMI TOOCAN has place claims. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – All Settled and Step Right Up RACE 7 HINCHINBELL is searching for a winning hat trick. His last start all the way win at Northam was a career best effort. Harvey retains the mount and he has drawn to lead. O’REILLY’S CRUMPET has burnt the punters on numerous occasions however he’ll enjoy a genuinely run race and Pike is in. TYCOON TARGET is close to a win. WITNESS IN COURT gets a soft run from a good draw as he did at Northam and can win again. Numbers – 1 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – Hinchinbeel save O’Reilly’s Crumpet QUADDIE RACE 4 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 RACE 5 – 1, 2, 3, 6 RACE 6 – 1, 2, 3 RACE 7 – 1, 4, 8 Bet Now
