Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on July 25, 2023July 25, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 RISE AT DAWN won impressively on debut at this trip and Gawnski has come through that race to run well behind the promising Mollynickers. DIABELLI had no favours covering ground first up but overcame that to produce a strong win. SUNSETS had no luck first up when well supported and looks suited at 1400m. MASONY also looks suited at 1400m, he beat Sunsets home the day Sunsets had no luck and has run well since. Selections: 1,2,6,5 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 1,5 & 6 Race 2 DIAMONDS IN THE SKY has jumped out in typically good style to have her first run for the Bedggood stable. TWIN PERFECTION is hard fit, he’s racing in good form and should make his own luck. LUNA CAT has jumped out well to resume and hit the line strongly here over 1000m first up last campaign. TAX FREE PROPHET will most likely miss the start and be charging home. Selections: 2,5,8,3 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 2,5 & 8 Race 3 PEARL RAIN doesn’t win out of turn but has been chasing her in-form stablemate of late and closed of well behind him last time. ANGEL OF LIGHT beat a galloper who the won impressively at Sale last Sunday and gives the impression 2400m will be ok. AWESOME WONDER brings some different form lines and will be suited stepping up in trip. HARD SQUEEZE is fit and racing well, she’s yet to win beyond 2124m but was strong through the line at 2100m last time. BOTANY is another that is unproven at this trip but for and racing well. QUOTA brings some solid NZ form. Selections: 2,4,7,1 Suggested Bet: Pearl Rain each way Race 4 CORIOLIS recorded some impressive late sectionals winning over 1200m last time and should relish the step up to 1400m. SHE’S PRETTY RICH has been chasing some fit, in-form and promising gallopers of late and was scratched on Saturday to be saved for this. DISCERNING hit the line strongly first up against the boys and gives the impression 1400m will suit now. REFRESHING, TURF TWO and WELLIE BELLE all won their maidens well at their most recent runs and look competitive for trifectas and first fours. Selections: 2,4,3,6 Suggested Bet: Coriolis to win Race 5 Competitive start to the quaddie. METRICAL has to cope with the rise from maiden grade but appears to have plenty of upside and the form around him is holding up well. IVAN’S HERO could be suited back to 1400m after contesting a couple of strong races over 1600m at his last two starts. HUGHES is another with upside, he was most unlucky at his only defeat to date and has jumped out well to resume. MICHELOTTI and CASTILLIAN come through the same race and there was merit in both runs. Under the circumstances, Michelotti ran well after over racing. Selections: 10,4,3,9 Suggested Bet: 10,4,3,9, & 2 for quaddie Race 6 TASMAN PARK has never run badly and will be at peak fitness now. ELLEN’S LICENCE was below market expectations last time but will strip fitter and will appreciate getting out to 1600m. REGAL AZMON won well first up, his second up record is good and the step up to 1600m looks a nice progression. JABBAWOCKEEZ was too good for Tasman Park last time but the likelihood of a firmer track may bring him back to the field to some extent. Selections: 2,5,1,3 Suggested Bet: Tasman Park each way Race 7 TIME QUEST should appreciate stepping up to 1800m after closing off strongly in an on-pace race at 1600m last start. FRIGID comes through the same race as Time Quest and also shapes as though 1800m will suit. FUNNYIFITWON is building a handy record and appears suited dropping back in trip. IRISH ROCKSTAR wasn’t able to lead last week, he backs up and shapes as the most likely leader here. Selections: 8,10,4,5 Suggested Bet: Time Quest to win Race 8 RHEINBERG looks destined to win better races and appeared to win with plenty in hand first up. BLOW IN hit the line strongly first up. He may need some luck from the inside draw but goes well for Craig Williams and boasts a decent record here. MAGNETIC PRINCE has returned in good form and seems to appreciate being kept on the fresh side. DARALINA BELLE gets winkers off and has had excuses at her recent Sydney runs. KALIUWAA FALLS and BIG BREW have some claims. Selections: 8,5,10,12 Suggested Bet: Rheinberg to win Market Market
