Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on June 27, 2023June 27, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Back to the Lakeside circuit and on speed may be some advantage, particularly early in the day. GOLIOTUS loves it wet and can make his own luck. HEREFORAGOODTIME has drawn for a good run, she handles wet ground well and likes racing here. FUNAMBULIST is some new blood and an interesting runner, he also handles wet ground well and is racing in good form. RIVAPORT is shaping as though this trip will be ok. Selections: 2,13,6,8 Suggested Bet: Goliotus each way Race 2 TIME QUEST appears to be an import with plenty of upside, his runs for the Matthew Smith stable have been most encouraging and he’s handled a soft 5 track. MATHEW is another with upside in this field, he may need some luck from the draw but what looks to be a decent tempo should help. BURGUNDER will be part of the speed, he battled on well after absorbing plenty of pressure first up. IVAN’S HERO won well first up and can stalk the speed from a low draw. Selections: 15,11,9,13 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 15 & 11 Race 3 NIJIKO is racing in career best form and is likely to try and run them off their legs once again. BLACKCOMB has returned well, she gets right down if the weights and will be charging late. MAWKEB may roll forward from the draw, she’s a big girl and will be suited by a strong rolling tempo. DANE ON TOUR comes through the same race as Blackcomb and must have a case. Selections: 5,16,8,9 Suggested Bet: Nijiko each way Race 4 CUBAN LINK gets blinkers first time, she will be at peak fitness now and with any luck from the draw should be fighting out the finish. DEFIANT DIVA can’t be improving at this stage of her preparation, but she continues to race well against strong opposition. MILTIDA ran well at her first run for the stable, she likes racing here and maps for a great run. ANAHITA, THRONTARI and BALLYNORA are in the mix in a deep race. Selections: 3,4,8,9 Suggested Bet: Cuban Link each way Race 5 There looks to be plenty of speed here and that should suit the imported DILLIAN. He worked home well after settling back in the field at his Australian debut and is sure to be improved by the outing. THE CUNNING FOX needs a few things to fall into place but strikes what seems to be a suitable race. BLAZING REBEL is fit and flying. WISAKA won well last time and should be suited by a solid tempo. SHAKESPEARE gets a weight turnaround on Wisaka and is another with claims in a wide race. Selections: 9,13,12,3 Suggested Bet: Dillian each way Race 6 VON HAUKE raced well through the Future Stars series at Pakenham and resumed with an emphatic win. He looks capable of progressing on to better races. THE GUAVA is fit and consistent, the form around his recent runs is strong. IMMORTALITY covered ground as a short-priced favourite second up and under the circumstances his run was ok. HE’LL RIP and DEMON AWARD come through the Immortality race and have to be considered. Selections: 12,7,6,2 Suggested Bet: Von Hauke each way Race 7 RHEINBERG’S only win to date has been at 1400m, but he’s jumped out impressively to resume and strikes a race with what appears to be a strong tempo. SIG POSITANO doesn’t win out of turn, but he should be at peak fitness now and will be strong late. TARZI CALLING has jumped out in great style and blinkers first time may signal some intent first up. POLANCO resumed with an encouraging run and is a previous second up winner. MATAO MA is flying for the new stable. THE HASS should be ready to fire third up. Selections: 15,7,14,1 Suggested Bet: Rheinberg each way Race 8 BIGOLINO is racing well, he’ll make his own luck and drops in grade on his latest run. OUR LONE STAR didn’t have the best of luck last time and is another racing in good form. JUST JOHNNO will likely need luck after drifting back from a low draw but will be strong late. ARNOLD has been given some quiet jumpouts to resume for the new stable and looks to be going well. PIEDRA comes through the same race as Our Lone Star and is in the mix. Selections: 1,6,14,10 Suggested Bet: Bigolino each way Market Market
