Warren Huntly’s Thursday Sandown Preview Posted on January 25, 2023January 25, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Competitive staying race. WAHINE TOA had her chance last start but is racing well and gets a slight drop in grade. TRADUCE worked home ok in the same race and Ollie sticks. PACHINO had some excuses when held up in the home straight last time. GONE WEST comes through the same race and will strip fitter. NEVER AGAIN and MAX MERCURY have claims in a deep race. Selections: 9,3,11,4 Suggested Bet: Wahine Toa each way Race 2 RIOYUKI may need some luck from the inside draw but will strip fitter third up and looks well placed dropping in grade on her latest run. WISHLOR LASS has obvious upside and the form through her last start victory has held up well. LADY ADELAIDE has returned well, she dominated an easier race last and looks part of the speed again. DANE ON TOUR is fit and racing well. Selections: 6,7,2,3 Suggested Bet: Rioyuki each way Race 3 Plenty to learn but THE INSTRUCTOR had trialled well leading into his impressive debut and looks hard to beat again. KRAKARIB is already a stakes winner and looked sharp winning a recent jumpout. ALTRUIST has looked good in his jumpouts, the most recent of which was here. SCORSESE has the outside draw but has won his last two jumpouts in good style. The other first starters have all shown something. Selections: 2,4,11,1 Suggested Bet: The Instructor to win Race 4 Another race with plenty to learn, thought ELDERBERRY, DE SONIC BOOM (won a recent jumpout here) and RIGHT TO PARTY were the pick of the first starters. ADITI ran well on debut and has jumped out nicely to resume. EXPLORING controlled the race to win on debut, ODE TO JOY looked a touch unlucky behind her. CELESTIAL STORM worked home nicely on debut and has jumped out well here recently. Selections: 2,10,6,7 Suggested Bet: Happy to look and learn Race 5 JUST JOHNNO may need some luck from the inside draw but he looks suited stepping up to 1400m third up following two encouraging runs. DAILY BUGLE comes through the same race last start and should also appreciate the step up to 1400m. BLOW IN had excuses last start and looks the other key winning hope. SANDY PRINCE will strip fitter and races well here. Selections: 8,4,9,3 Suggested Bet: Just Johnno each way Race 6 Good speed as you’d expect and it should set up well for STAR PATROL, who’s been jumping out well to resume. ON THE LEAD chased well to win last start and should be storming home again. YULONG COMMAND will be part of the speed, with ESTA LA ROCA (excuses last start and races well here), ALPHA ONE and STARRY LEGEND. Selections: 5,6,3,2 Suggested Bet: Star Patrol to win Race 7 JACQUINOT looks to be progressing well through the jumpouts and with luck from an inside draw shapes as the one to beat. CLIMBING STAR has plenty of upside, she’s at her best on good ground and has jumped out in great style recently. BANK MAUR is another with upside that has been jumping out well. RUTHLESS DAME has also been jumping out well and is already a stakes winner. Selections: 1,10,3,9 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples with 1,10 & 3 Race 8 GENTLEMAN ROY produced an outstanding performance first up last preparation when beaten By I Wish I Win and has jumped out well to resume. DAWN PASSAGE chased well down the straight first up and will appreciate the rise in distance. PAL D’ORO is racing well and has been kept up to the mark with a jumpout between runs. CROSSHAVEN had some traffic issues last start. UMGAWA should appreciate getting back to 1400m. Selections: 3,5,8,1 Suggested Bet: Gentleman Roy to win Market Market
