Warren Huntly’s Saturday Mornington Preview Posted on April 19, 2024April 19, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Good race to kick off and expecting a more positive ride aboard PERSPIRATION, who went back and was left with too much to do over this trip last start. SNACK BAR won well over 1200m last time at this after an eye catching debut and maps for a similar run. BRING FORTH has been jumping out well for his debut. BRIGHELLA charged home to win over 1000m on debut and looks suited by the extra 200m. IRREFUTABLY is another impressive debutant winner and has a case. Selections: 1,2,5,3 Suggested Bet: Perspiration to win Race 2 MAWKEB appears well placed stripping fitter for her luckless latest run and stepping back up to 1600m. BURLINGTON GATE hit the line strongly first up and broke her maiden at 1600m last prep. DANE ON TOUR has form that ties in with Mawkeb, she’s been freshened and gets blinkers back on. THOUGHT PROVOKING may be looking for further but will strip fitter and maps for a soft run. CABACA worked home ok at her first run for the Waller stable. Selections: 4,9,6,1 Suggested Bet: Mawkeb to win Race 3 FASUTO has jumped out in great style. He’s a winner here and looks set for a good run behind a strong tempo. LADY DI DI drops in grade and gets back around a bend. She’s also a winner here and should get a similar run to Fasuto. EPIC CENTRE has jumped out in typically sharp style and will be part of the speed. His stablemate TITLE FIGHTER had plenty of excuses in a much stronger race first up. RANVEER has jumped out quite well to resume from a lengthy break. Selections: 3,8,1,11 Suggested Bet: Fasuto each way Same Race Multi: Fasuto (Top 2) + Lady Di Di (Top 4) Race 4 Competitive race despite the relatively small field. BRADEN STAR comes through a key lead up race and will strip fitter third up. ARRAN BAY won that race, he’ll make his own luck and there’s no real knock on his 2000m runs to date. GALERON comes through the same race and split Arran Bay and Braden Star, so muct have a case. MANKAYAN and SUNSETS both drop in trip but have some claims. Selections: 2,4,3,1 Suggested Bet: Brayden Star each way Race 5 Deep race with chances galore. WHO DARES will need plenty of luck from the draw but has jumped out in terrific style. EMPRESSIVE ENUFF and TALBRAGAR come through the same race behind Midtown Boss and both have strong claims. Talbragar is another that will need luck. END ASSEMBLY has been jumping out well for the new stable and his Qld form reads well. PANTELONE is most consistent and won well second up. PUKETIRO has a habit of being slowly away but his last start win in NZ was spectacular. Selections: 5,11,9,6 Suggested Bet: Who Dares each way Race 6 GRID GIRL is racing through the grade in good style, she looks capable of taking another step and appears suited stepping up to 1600m. STYLISH takes a big rise in grade following her emphatic maiden victory but is another with plenty of upside. RIPROAR won well first up and will appreciate any ‘give’ in the ground. DUAL PRESSURE back up from Bendigo where he had excuses and may be suited stepping up to 1600m. GATES drops in grade and has been freshened for the drop in distance. Selections: 8,9,5,1 Suggested Bet: Grid Girl each way Race 7 SEA WHAT I SEE is getting up in the weights but looks capable of progressing to much better races later in her career and is the one to beat. INTERLINKED has been freshened since contesting a couple of elite races in NZ and if he’s still got petrol in the tank can be competitive. DAIQUIRI will strip fitter for his solid run second up over this trip. SAVOIR FAIRE did enough first up and will appreciate the rise in distance. Selections: 3,14,9,6 Suggested Bet: Sea What I See to win Race 8 FIRST IMMORTAL may have been a little flat second up in the Easter Cup but he did lose momentum at a crucial stage and was arguably in slightly inferior ground. His previous form would have him the horse to beat. DENY KNOWLEDGE comes through the same race, she’ll also strip fitter third up and will make her own luck. FUTURE HISTORY also comes through the Easter Cup and is likely to have been set for this. CAPTAIN ENVIOUS won the Easter Cup, so must have a case. LITTLE MIX brings a different form line, she covered plenty of additional ground last start and stuck on bravely under the circumstances Selections: 4,5,8,2 Suggested Bet: First Immortal each way Race 9 Another deep race. PINTOFF has been jumping out very well for the new stable and should be suited by a solid tempo. MAHARBA is racing well and will be close to his top third up. THE INFERNO has a powerful finish and will appreciate a solidly run 1200m. SAVANNAH CLOUD got the right run last time but is a most consistent galloper and maps for another good run. Selections: 5,10,3,2 Suggested Bet: Pintoff each way Race 10 DASHING should take plenty of running down getting out to 1600m third up. FRIGID also hits this race third up, she was only grabbed late after hitting the front early last start following a luckless first up run. GREGOLIMO has run well in Australia without winning. He was close up behind Muramasa at his only first up run in Australia to date and has jumped out well for his second local prep. CADMUS is another that has trialled well for his return. QUANTUM CAT and DSCHINGIS PRESTIGE are imports that have jumped out well enough to be considered. Selections: 4,8,2,10 Suggested Bet: Dashing to win Market Market
