Warren Huntly’s Saturday Moonee Valley Preview Posted on March 17, 2023March 17, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 MIDWEST has race fitness on his side and should control the race from the front. SCISSOR STEP has jumped out well for the new stable to resume with blinkers on. MYNUMEROUNO resumes from a bleeding attack, he has also been jumping out well to resume with blinkers applied. SARTORIAL SPLENDOR is another that has been jumping out nicely and boasts a decent first up record. Selections: 1,2,4,3 Suggested Bet: Midwest to win Race 2 Even contest. VONGOLE has been racing well here and may be suited by a wider draw. FEARLESS WRITER overcame difficulties to win here last start and appears capable of measuring up to the slightly stronger company. SOCIAL CONSCIENCE was ok in a much stronger race last time and should appreciate getting back around a bend. MORPHEUS BRAGI has upside and has jumped out well to resume. IN HER STRIDE drops in grade and is another hope in a deep race. Selections: 4,12,8,14 Suggested Bet: Vongole each way Race 3 QUEEN AIR looks well placed as a promising filly down on 52kg, she has jumped out well between runs and looks suited by the rise in trip. CHARMS STAR is posted at the top of the weights but stuck on well after making an early move in the Wangaratta Cup at her latest run. CRIMSON LIGHT chased well after making a wide run behind SUMMERBEEL when they met here at their last starts. DIVINE DIOSA and AMPERE have claims. Selections: 10,1,9,5 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples with 10,1,9 & 5 Race 4 BEL AIR gives the impression that 1600m will be ok and has been racing well through the strong Future Stars series. RUSSIAN DANCER is proven at 1600m and is also racing well. SHEZATEMPEST looks suited stepping up to 1600m following her strong maiden victory over 1400m. TORONTO TERRIER has upside but jumps quickly to 1600m. Selections: 1,2,10,5 Suggested Bet: Quinella/Exacta 1 & 2 Race 5 MUNHAMEK drops to the minimum weight, has a race fitness advantage over a number of his rivals and looks well placed to win again. RAMBLER REBEL was no match for Munhamek last time but also drops in weight and will appreciate getting back to Moonee Valley. RIYAZAN defied his odds with a solid run in the Blamey and should strip even fitter third up after a long break. QUALITY TIME and BOIS D’ARGENT will both be better over further but have been jumping out/trialling quite well. Selections: 5,8,1,6 Suggested Bet: Munhamek to win Race 6 LADY OF HONOUR is generally effective first up, she’s been jumping out well and looks set to secure a nice run behind a decent tempo. FLORESCENT STAR always run well and will be suited by a solid tempo. FRANKIE PINOT has been jumping out nicely to resume, he’ll be charging late with blinkers first time. SHE’S ALL CLASS can be a bit hit and miss but is another that should be suited by a strong tempo up front. IN THE BOAT will be part of the speed, he’s had a throat operation since his last start and appears to be going ok. I AM WAR adds to the speed component and displayed his customary sharpness in a recent jumpout. Selections: 5,8,3,6 Suggested Bet: Lady of Honour each way Race 7 ALLIGATOR BLOOD will strip fitter for his first up win and has the versatility to cope with KEATS and GENTLEMAN ROY for company on speed. MR BRIGHTSIDE has drawn a barrier to stalk the speed and looks a strong winning hope. I’M THUNDERSTRUCK should appreciate getting out to 1600m third up and the likelihood of a truly run race. LAWS OF INDICES will strip fitter for his two recent Sydney runs behind Anamoe. CASCADIAN will be hitting the line strongly. Selections: 2,4,1,6 Suggested Bet: Alligator Blood to win Race 8 Competitive race. PARIS DIOR ran well down the straight first up and will strip fitter. PARISAL looks promising and has trialled well between runs. WEE NESSY is a stakes winner here over this trip and will be close to peak fitness third up. MUMBAI JEWEL will need plenty of luck from the draw but is well up to this class and has trialled in great style in Sydney recently. Not sure how to line up the WA visitor MY BELLA MAE but she will also need luck from the wide barrier. Selections: 1,12,3,10 Suggested Bet: Paris Dior each way Race 9 CEERSEVEN had no luck last start behind Dashing, who was subsequently unlucky in Adelaide on Cup Day. He shapes as though 2040m will suit. AMENABLE will strip fitter third up and also give the impression he will be suited at this trip. DUNKEL is deep into his preparation but continuing to race well and is proven in this distance range. NORTHERN BARRAGE ran much better than his SP last time and should relish stepping up to this trip. JAPANESE EMPEROR, BANK MAUR and HIGH APPROACH are in the mix. Selections: 10,3,1,8 Suggested Bet: Ceerseven each way Race 10 Tough finish. KHOEKHOE was back to something like his best last time and if he can reproduce that effort, he’ll be hard to beat again. HEAVENLY EMPEROR and BRITISH COLUMBIA chased Khoekhoe last start with Heavenly Emperor enduring a wide run. TOOGOODFORTOORAK is racing in great form and has jumped out well between runs. SUPARAZI is deep into his campaign but holding his form and maps for a good run. Selections: 1,4,3,7 Suggested Bet: Khoekhoe each way Market Market
