Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on February 17, 2023February 17, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 BELTORO should be suited by a reasonable tempo, he produced a career best performance here two starts back prior to a solid performance last start. WISHLOR LASS steps up in grade again but is untapped should get every chance from the draw. SERIOUS LIAISON had no luck last start and will strip fitter third up. MONARCH OF EGYPT has form that ties in with many of these and should be at this peak now. RIVERPLATE, IMA SHELBY and SO YOU SEE (excuses last start) have claims. Selections: 4,12,9,6 Suggested Bet: Beltoro each way Race 2 CLIMBING STAR did more than enough when ridden conservatively from the draw first up. Jacquinot franked that form last week and she is suited stepping up in trip. QUEEN AIR finally broke her maiden last time but her previous form measures up well. SEE YOU IN HEAVEN is a proven stakes performer and should appreciate the rise in trip second up. PAPILLON CLUB has trialled well between runs and looks capable of measuring up to this grade. ROYAL MERCHANT and NUNTHORPE are in the mix in a deep race. Selections: 5,4,1,3 Suggested Bet: Climbing Star each way Race 3 MAHARBA has trialled well for the new stable following an encouraging debut in a strong race. SCORSESE hit the line well on debut and looks suited by the rise in trip. AMUR has been winning well at The Valley, he should be strong late on the fresh side back to 1100m. PRINCESS DUHALLOW has plenty of speed and that was on show in a recent jumpout down the straight. Selections: 3,4,2,15 Suggested Bet: Maharba each way Race 4 INDEPENDENT ROAD has been racing well and covered ground last start, he seems to save his best for Flemington. ARRAN BAY coped well with the step up to 2040m last start and was held up on the home turn. FIGHTING ARROW received a great ride to score last time prior to a luckless run here. HASSELTOFF might be looking for this trip now. DON’T DOUBT RUBY did enough first up. Selections: 11,6,10,7 Suggested Bet: Independent Road each way Race 5 ANNAVISTO has trialled impressively and looks in great order to defend her title in this race. EXCELIDA did enough first up and gets blinkers back on. VESPERTINE has caught the eye at both her runs this preparation and looks suited stepping up to 1400m. WROTE TO ARATAKI has developed the ability to race closer and has to be included. BOOGIE DANCER has jumped out ok to kick off at 1400m. Selections: 4,3,7,6 Suggested Bet: Annavisto to win Race 6 BANK MAUR raced well during the spring and was only narrowly defeated by Jacquinot fist up. ELLIPTICAL has form that ties in with Bank Maur, his most recent jumpout with blinkers on was encouraging. ATTRITION has been winning easier races in impressive style and gives the impression he can measure up. ELKINGTON ROAD has looked good on rain affected ground, he has jumped out well to resume on a firmer surface. CADETSHIP is racing through the grades well in NSW. Selections: 4,5,14,6 Suggested Bet: Bank Maur each way Race 7 BUENOS NOCHES is proven down the straight and has trialled well to resume. The 3yo form has been holding up well at WFA and his runs behind Giga Kick and In Secret read well. NATURE STRIP is the benchmark and he has jumped out in typically good fashion. ROCH ‘N’ HORSE has jumped out well just behind Nature Strip and defeated him at Group 1 WFA at their last starts. I WISH I WIN will be better over further but his recent trial was outstanding and he will be charging late. Can’t dismiss COOLANGATTA and MARABI. Selections: 9,1,6,2 Suggested Bet: Buenos Noches each way Race 8 MUNHAMEK backs up after having no luck in the home straight last week. DAYTONA BAY will strip fitter for an encouraging first up run. SCALLOPINI is right in the mix with any luck from the draw, he’s jumped out well since arriving back in Melbourne. LOOKS LIKE ELVIS is always competitive in these races. DALASAN and UNCLE BRYN has trialled/jumped out well enough to resume at this trip. Selections: 13,14,3,7 Suggested Bet: Munhamek each way Race 9 Tough finish. D’JUMBUCK was well ridden to win down the straight last start and has jumped out nicely between runs. SACRED PALACE has been placed at 1200m down the straight previously and wiill be strong late. JUNGLE JIM is racing in great form and will make his own luck, the same can be said for RED HOT NICC. HELLO BROADCAST will strip fitter for his run behind Red Hot Nicc and is suited stepping up to 1200m. Selections: 10,5,3,7 Suggested Bet: D’Jumbuck each way Market Market
