Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on July 19, 2024July 19, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Effectively a two year old maiden on heavy ground with all runners getting to 1800m for the first time. POLITELY DUN has closed of well in both runs to date and looks suited stepping up to 1800m. STAY SILENT and SUNTORA come through the same race and have claims. RED ACES rises significantly in distance but hit the line strongly on debut. Selections: 2,3,1,7 Suggested Bet: Small win bet Politely Dun Race 2 FURLANETTO is racing in great form and gets a weight turnaround on PARIAH PEARL from their last starts. (Tom Prebble, who rides Pariah Pearl, has listed his riding weight as 52kg for this meeting). LE ZEBRA showed a glimpse of his early form last and can roll more forward with a clean get away. SUBRISING is racing well and should secure a good run stalking the speed. CASTLE ON HIGH is fit, consistent and handles wet ground. Selections: 5,2,3,15 Suggested Bet: Furlanetto each way Same Race Multi: Furlanetto (Top 2) + Le Zebra (Top 4) Race 3 If FIRST SETTLER can bring his impressive debut effort to the straight track then he’ll be hard to beat. LANDMARK chased bravely in that race but has some ground to make up on First Settler. JUST LIKE GABY has been trialling well in Sydney for her debut. SCAMPI has jumped out in great style and appears to have improved since his first prep. Selections: 2,3,12,5 Suggested Bet: First Settler to win Race 4 ARQANA sprinted quickly when the gap appeared to win last time and looks the one to beat. FEARLESS WRITER endured a tough run last start and battled on bravely under the circumstances. CINDY FALLS showed some versatility winning the Leilani Final and should appreciate stepping back up to 1600m. GENTIAN BLUE brings some solid NZ form. BINDING has Arqana form and can give a sight. Selections: 8,5,2,3 Suggested Bet: Arqana to win Race 5 EUGENIUS was close off a wide up in a similar race at Caulfield and handles soft ground well. LOVAZOU backs up from a dominant win last week and is also effective on rain-affected ground. FREAK OF NATURE has returned in great form, he takes another rise in grade but can make his own luck. GREAT MAXIMUS won well last start and the Jolly’s have a great record identifying the right races to travel their horses. REGAL ZEUS and REGAL MIGHT have claims. Selections: 3,5,4,7 Suggested Bet: Eugenius each way Race 6 BARAQIEL was still able to win again despite some waywardness last start, he’ll roll forward and prove hard to run down. LEGIO TEN got close to him last start and shapes as one of the main dangers with any luck from a low draw. SOUTH OF HOUSTON will strip fitter for an encouraging return. BAROQUE ROAD won well last start and handles wet ground. Selections: 6,9,15,5 Suggested Bet: Baraqiel to win Race 7 TARAMANSOUR is fit, racing well and handles soft ground ok. FERAGO loves it heavy and has been going ok on unsuitably firm ground. HIT THE ROAD JACK has been good since arriving from NZ and his flat run prior to his hurdle victory lines up ok here. SPEYCASTER can be hit and miss but was back to his best on heavy ground last time. Selections: 6,7,5,3 Suggested Bet: Taramansour each way Race 8 CADMUS seems to relish being kept on the fresh side and was able to overcome the track pattern last start. SMOKIN’ ROMANS gets blinkers back on and as a previous Turnbull winner over the course and distance doesn’t looks badly treated after the claim. WYCLIF should be at peak fitness now after winning well at this trip last time. WERTHEIMER backs up and had some excuses last week. Selections: 6,1,7,15 Suggested Bet: Cadmus to win Race 9 BIG ME is the query runner and has been jumping out in great style for the new stable since returning from Hong Kong. MOONHAVEN hit the line strongly behind BEAST MODE last start and both have solid claims. MANSIERE found a suitable race last time but will strip fitter and loves it wet. LUNA CAT and CAVALLO RAMPANTE are in the mix. Selections: 16,17,15,1 Suggested Bet: Big Me each way Market Market
