Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on August 4, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 RIVER NOIRE showed plenty in her first racing preparation. The form through her stablemate She Dances reads well and has jumped out well to resume. SMILE AND WAVE was well below her best is a swoopers race at Caulfield, she’s jumped out well since and is a straight track winner. JEAN VALJEAN brings solid S.A. form and will be strong late. ANILLA was ridden with some intent to win a recent jumpout in good style. THE HASS is likely to settle more forward here and can give a sight. Selections: 8,10,6,1 Suggested Bet: River Noire to win Race 2 Even contest. IN HER STRIDE has a solid first up record and has jumped out nicely to resume. JET JITSU was held up right to the line first up first up when well in the market. THE PRODIGAL SON covered ground at his latest run. LOVIN’ LAUGHS is fit and will make his own luck. RIVKIN, AIR DEFENCE, ROCKRIBBED and ABADDON are among the other chances. Selections: 8,17,13,2 Suggested Bet: In Her Stride each way Race 3 GAWNSKI worked home well behind a promising filly last time and has the benefit of runs in this distance range. GANGITANO may appreciate stepping up to 1410m and gets blinkers. ORION THE HUNTER has obvious claims through the same race as Gangitano, he finished ahead of him on that occasion and didn’t have the best of luck. WARLORDS was well supported to win in debut and looks suited by the rise in trip. Selections: 4,3,5,6 Suggested Bet: Gawnski each way Race 4 Another even contest. CARDIGAN QUEEN has been scratched a number of time since her last start victory but has jumped out well between runs. RICK’S CAFE had a terrific last campaign and has jumped out in great style to resume. There wasn’t much between HELL HOUND and BEOUR BAY when they clashed last time and there probably won’t be much between them again. IMPENDING SHADOW comes through the same race, she keeps drawing wide and running well. QUEEN AIR and GOOD AND PROPER have claims. Selections: 4,13,8,11 Suggested Bet: Cardigan Queen each way Race 5 MOSTLY CLOUDY and MIMI’S AWARD put a gap on the opposition over a longer trip here last time. Thought Mostly Cloudy could turn the table here from a low draw. TEEWATERS form ties in with Mimi’s Award and he’s raced himself back into winning form. CLAIHEAMH MOR backs up from an impressive win last week and will make his own luck. Selections: 7,1,2,5 Suggested Bet: Mostly Cloudy to win Race 6 SHAIYHAR was impressive here over this trip two starts back. He’s been freshened to drop back in distance with blinkers going on. WASCALY is unknown beyond 1600m but gives the impression 2000m will suit. THE NEPHEW is fit and consistent and is a winner out to 2200m. BLUE CUP was stopped in his tracks last start when he looked to be working into the race. MAYFAIR SPIRIT and THORIN have claims. Selections: 3,17,14,6 Suggested Bet: Shaiyhar each way Race 7 IT’SOURTIME is racing in great form and shouldn’t get as far back as last start back down the straight. CAUSE FOR CONCERN is another horse racing in great form, he’s proven down the straight and should cope with the drop back to 1200m. DANCE TO DUBAI steps up in grade but will make her own luck and should be at peak fitness. GENERAL BEAU is a query at 1200m but is hard fit and racing well. Selections: 4,11,8,2 Suggested Bet: It’sourtime each way Race 8 PRESSER rises in grade but looks to have plenty of upside and gets right down in the weights. BRAYDEN STAR has been freshened since the trip to Sydney and will be strong late back to 1620m. FIRST MATE appears suited by the rise in trip and hit the line strongly when he finally got clear behind a promising galloper last time. ARRAN BAY has the tactical speed to potentially offset an awkward draw. FRENCH EMPEROR had excuses last start. Selections: 14,3,12,2 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 14,3,12 & 2 Race 9 Speed looks strong here. NICOLINI VITO will be close to peak fitness third up and suited stepping up to 1410m. BERKELEY SQUARE resumes from an injury enforced layoff but has jumped out well and still has plenty of upside. POLAND will roll forward and should prove even harder to run down third up. DEVOTED brings some solid W.A. form and has jumped out well for the new stable. Selections: 5,3,9,14 Suggested Bet: Nicolini Vito each way Race 10 BENEDETTA is proven down the straight and looks the class runner. She’s on a path to Group 1 racing this campaign and has jumped out well to resume. NAJEM SUHAIL is also effective down the straight and has a race fitness edge on Benedetta. NO WAY EVER chased well behind Najem Suhail first up and is suited stepping up to 1100m. ZAC DE BOSS was below his best last start but his overall straight form is solid. Selections: 2,3,15,1 Suggested Bet: Benedetta to win Market Market
