Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on October 10, 2024October 10, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 SABAN received a great ride but sprinted quickly to win first up and looks suited by the rise in distance. NAILS MURPHY can make his own luck and gives the impression 1700m will be ok. NEARING LIBERTY has returned in great form and jumped out nicely between runs. HEAVENLY EAGLE is fit and consistent. PLATINUM DESTROYER comes through easier races but is still on the up and should appreciate the slight rise in trip. Selections: 8,3,12,10 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 8,3 & 12 Race 2 ERNO’S CUBE might be better suited coming back to 1200m and brings strong Sydney form. SILMARILLION has form that ties in with Erno’s Cube and also may appreciate dropping back from 1400m. KEEPSAKE has looked very good at her trials and jumpouts and respect the stable targeting this race on debut. I AM VELVET has been impressive, albeit somewhat green, in easier races in her career to date and seems more tractable in her jumpouts leading into this. Selections: 1,2,12,3 Suggested Bet: Erno’s Cube each way Race 3 EXTRATWO chased well in a key lead up race and may be able to settle a little closer. That form ties in A LITTLE DEEP and KUNDALINI, that both look strong winning hopes. VAGRANT found it too wet last time. She’s been kept up to the mark with a jumpout between runs and will be strong late at 1200m. Selections: 9,6,10,2 Suggested Bet: Extratwo each way Race 4 LADY JONES was brave after covering ground last start and maps for a much better run. SEE YOU IN HEAVEN was ok in a leader dominated race last time. She’s likely to appreciate former ground and is proven out to 1600m. CITY OF LIGHTS struck some interference at a crucial stage over 1400m at her latest run and is will appreciate 1600m. QUICKSTER did enough first up and is a second up winner. Selections: 7,3,14,6 Suggested Bet: Lady Jones each way Race 5 JIMMYSSTAR impressed first up recording some impressive late sectionals. He jumps to 1400m but may be even better suited at this trip and has indicated a high level of talent on more than one occasion. COASTWATCH brings some solid interstate form and maps for a soft run. RUN HARRY RUN will strip fitter second up and can settle near the speed. WHO DARES has trialled well between runs and has the early speed to offset the draw. VON HAUKE brings a strong second up record and did enough first up. Selections: 7,6,14,13 Suggested Bet: Jimmysstar each way Race 6 Competitive race. GEAR UP has had two solid runs at 2000m and looks well placed stepping up to 2400m. THE MAP comes through the same last start and also seems suited stepping up to 2400m third up. DASHING DUCHESS may have found the track too wet last time and her previous form gives her a chance. FANCY MAN comes through the same race as Gear Up and The Map and is among the other hopes with POST IMPRESSIONIST and many others. Selections: 4,8,10,6 Suggested Bet: Gear Up each way Race 7 MR BRIGHTSIDE is yet to win at 2000m but has run well enough to justify his short-priced favouritism here. He should get a soft run, with DENY KNOWLEDGE the likely leader and capable of giving a sight, but not as hard to run down as Pride of Jenni. ATISHU seems to go best at Flemington, but a drier track than last week is in her favour. COCO SUN is progressing ok and will be suited stepping up to 2000m. Selections: 1,5,8,6 Suggested Bet: Mr Bightside to win Race 8 BROADSIDING looks highly promising and stands out as the one to beat following his first up win in the Golden Rose. MAYFAIR comes through the same race, he’s likely to roll forward and shapes as the main danger. PUBLIC ATTENTION stuck on well after covering ground behind ANGEL CAPITAL in the Prelude, which likely to prove the stronget local form. EVAPORATE is fit and flying around Moonee Valley and seems to relish 1600m. Selections: 1,5,7,4 Suggested Bet: Broadsiding to win Race 9 Intriguing race. BELLATRIX STAR is flying. She gets right down in the weights, should be suited by the likely strong tempo and three year olds have been measuring up well against the older horses. MORNINGTON GLORY has been kept fresh and trialled well between runs. KALLOS will strip fitter second up and has also trialled nicely between runs. OSCAR’S FORTUNE has jumped out impressively at Flemington to resume. RECOMMENDATION and STAR PATROL have claims. Selections: 9,2,4,1 Suggested Bet: Bellatrix Star each way Same Race Multi: Bellatrix Star (Top 2) + Mornington Glory (Top 4) Race 10 ANOTHER WIL has looked a prime Toorak candidate for some time hit this race in great form third up. ANTINO looks the main danger, he was a close second in this race last year and has been running well at Group 1 WFA. WISHLOR LASS run well behind Another Wil first up, she will strip fitter and can roll forward. CRAIG and DESERT LIGHTNING come through the same race and look the other main hopes. Selections: 4,3,13,9 Suggested Bet: Another Wil to win Market Market
