Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on August 29, 2024August 29, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 SASSY BOOM was competitive at stakes level last prep and has been jumping out in great style to resume. VIVY AIR (also accepted in Sydney) will strip fitter second up and appreciate the rise in trip. LOVAZOU is racing in great form and sprinted impressively to win last time. RUMBLED AGAIN and FIRE OF ETNA have both been trialling/jumping out well to resume. Selections: 3,9,4,2 Suggested Bet: Sassy Boom each way Race 2 STEP ASIDE should be at peak fitness now, he maps well and may be suited coming back to 1400m. Rise At Dawn ties in his form with CRAIG, who has been freshened following a terrific first Australian campaign and has jumped out nicely between runs. THE OPEN has an awkward draw to overcome but is fit and flying. HE’S BESET had a confidence booster last time but will also need some luck from the draw. Selections: 13,12,1,7 Suggested Bet: Step Aside each way Race 3 RISE TO IT looks well placed after chasing a strong tempo and fighting on bravely last start. GENTIAN BLUE and BIG STORY both worked through the line in good style at their latest runs and should appreciate the step up to 1800m. MATHEW may have had a throat issue last time, he gets a cross over nose band on and his previous run was good for this. PESTO is an interesting runner at his first run for the new stable and could be worth monitoring for any market support. Selections: 12,13,14,3 Suggested Bet: Rise To It each way Same Race Multi: Rise To It (Top 2) + Gentian Blue (Top 4) Race 4 DUKE DE SESSA was luckless last start and should be close to peak fitness. ARAMCO will settle in a forward position, he should also be close to his top and looks a strong winning hope. ROLLS was able to take advantage of a soft lead week and is proven on the quick back up. ALDER beat home the luckless Duke De Sessa last start and will strip fitter third up. Selections: 2,12,8,11 Suggested Bet: Duke De Sessa each way Race 5 KALLOS has trialled well to resume and draws to stalk a solid tempo. CHAIN OF LIGHTNING has been jumping out well to resume and any give in the ground would be to her advantage. RECOMMENDATION has retuned in great form and has jumped out nicely between runs. He beat home Kallos in the Oakleigh Plate but Kallos had excuses on that occasion and has a significant weight swing. ARKANSAW KID won well returning as a gelding and will strip fitter. Selections: 1,3,9,6 Suggested Bet: Kallos each way Race 6 GROWING EMPIRE gets blinkers off to resume. He’s a promising colt with a couple of good recent jumpouts under his belt. STAY FOCUSED has also shown promise, he’s had three recent jumpouts and impressed winning the latest. YALDI measured up over here last time and has trialled well in NZ. There wasn’t much WONDER BOY and LET’SFACETHEMUSIC behind BAND OF BROTHERS last start, with Wonder Boy likely to derive the most benefit from the trio from that run. Selections: 1,3,9,6 Suggested Bet: Growing Empire to win Race 7 Competitive race. SKYBIRD will need some luck from the draw but she’s trialled well and has a touch of class. EXPRESSIVENESS ran well at her first Australian run, she’ll strip fitter and can make her own luck. WROTE TO ARATAKI ran third in this race last year behind Benedetta and has been jumping out in good style to resume. WOLLOMBI and COMRADE ROSA have jumped out well together and are among the other winning hopes. Selections: 3,12,2,6 Suggested Bet: Skybird each way Race 8 RISE AT DAWN has had an amazing prep. He faces a another rise in grade but will make his own luck and gives the impression 1700m will be ok. MUNHAMEK gets back up in the weights but has also had an amazing prep and is racing as through he’ll run a strong 1700m. JIMMY THE BEAR had no luck in the same race as Munhamek and gets some weight relief. The imported QUE TEMPESTA has been jumping out well. Selections: 13,1,5,2 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 13,1,5 & 2 Race 9 Great race. PRIDE OF JENNI has risen to the elite level and she’s been jumping out well to resume. ANTINO brings an outstanding first up record. He jumped out in eye catching style alongside Pride Of Jenni but wearing blinkers in that hit out might’ve been a sign of stronger intent than your average jumpout. MR BRIGHTSIDE is another one of our elite galloper and he’s jumped out nicely to kick off another spring campaign. PINSTRIPED will strip fitter and arguably cost himself by laying in first up chasing GENTLEMAN ROY, who will make his own luck and has a case. Selections: 7,6,1,5 Suggested Bet: Pride Of Jenni to win Race 10 Plenty of horses resuming and a number without trials or jumpouts. JENNILALA has jumped out well behind Pride Of Jenni and looks suited kicking off at 1400m. ANOTHER WIL is likely to prove the best horse in the race but he’s resuming without a trial or jumpout and has 60.5kg from a wide draw. HERE TO SHOCK has jumped out in typically sharp fashion and can has the tactical speed to offset the wide draw. SNOWMAN has Riff Rocket form and has jumped out well to resume. BERKELEY SQUARE gets into a suitable grade of race first up with a claim and is in the game if forward enough. Selections: 11,2,1,16 Suggested Bet: Jennilala each way Market Market
