Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on July 26, 2024July 26, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Rain forecast during the day could see the track downgraded from the likely early good rating. DOM quickened impressively on debut over this trip on soft ground and may control the race again. I AM VELVET also impressed last start, despite being a bit wayward (near side bubble cheeker goes on) and gives the impression 1400m will be ok. KALIMNA VIEWS ran well after being forced wide from back in the field first up. DETROIT CITY also impressed on debut, he’s likely to roll forward and looks suited stepping up to 1400m. Selections: 2,5,6,1 Suggested Bet: Dom to win Race 2 COMANCHE MISS may need some luck from the inside draw but ran well in a strong race on debut and has jumped out in great style to resume with blinkers on. ALDOLFITO looked big and strong winning on debut at Flemington and is sure to strip fitter. BAND OF BROTHERS improved nicely to score second up and should relish the rise to 1200m. BEREZKA worked home strongly on debut and also appears suited stepping up to 1200m. Selections: 10,1,3,9 Suggested Bet: Comanche Miss each way Race 3 PHATS stuck on well behind Steel Run in the Banjo Patterson Final. He’s changed stables since and looks hard to beat with B.Shinn going on despite rising in weight. CAPTAIN ELECTRIC was held up at a crucial stage last week and gives the impression he’ll appreciate getting out beyond 2000m. TIETAR has been solid in his to NSW runs since his tough maiden victory. BLUESTONE and PURE GRUNT have claims. Selections: 1,5,8,2 Suggested Bet: Quinella/Exacta 1 & 5 Race 4 MATRON BULLWINKEL is unknown at 2400m but she’s racing as though it will suit and it can be folly to doubt the stable when they stretch horse out in trip. There wasn’t much between THE DEVIL IN HER and DICTIONARY last time with a weight swing in favour of the latter. KODIAK BEAR is less exposed than his rivals, he’s progressing well and the form through his latest run was feanked at Murray Bridge recently. FERAGO and TEEWATERS would be hard to beat if they could find their best form. Selections: 10,11,4,9 Suggested Bet: Matron Bullwinkel to win Race 5 AMOURSIRRA has jumped out well to resume and pulled up with excuses after being tested at stakes level following her impressive debut. HERBERT PARK is fit, in-form and any rain during the day would enhance her chances. KUNDALINI is still a maiden but she’s been competitive in strong races and jumped out well for the new stable. SUNSET DREAMING resumes without a trial of jumpout and has the talent to be competitive if she’s ready. Selections: 7,5,6,4 Suggested Bet: Amoursirra to win Race 6 Competitive race. PRINZERRO has returned in good form and comes through the strongest form lines. WALLENDA and BOSSY NIC come through the same race and have obvious claims. BRACARDE is lightly raced with upside and broke his maiden in the style of a horse that can measure up. PIASTRI has a case. Selections: 4,5,1,11 Suggested Bet: Prinzerro each way Race 7 RECOMMENDATION may have had the track pattern and the race shape in his favour first up but it’s hard to see anything out of that race turning the tables. MARBLE NINE takes a significant rise in grade but is racing well and can take advantage of the inside draw. MORNINGTON GLORY can get closer to Recommendation on firmer ground. MRS CHRISSIE and SEMILLION look competitive for the minor placings Selections: 2,5,3,6 Suggested Bet: Recommendation looks the winner at short odds Race 8 GREEN FLY continues to race well and would be significantly advantaged by any rain during the day. JIMMY THE BEAR found a suitable race at Mildura but his previous form was solid and he’s effective on good and soft ground. DUJE DE SESSA has jumped out well since his first up run and gets the benefit of a claim. PRINCE OF HELENA and LOUNGE BAR RUBI bring the Munhamek form and are in the mix. Selections: 7,2,1,9 Suggested Bet: Green Fly each way Same Race Multi: Green Fly (Top 2) + Duke De Sessa (Top 4) Race 9 THE OPEN is building an impressive record and was forced to show some tactical versatility last time after being slowly away. RHAPSODY CHIC is also building a good record and handles all track conditons. EL ROCKO needs it soft or worse but is in career best form. SANDPAPER wa no match for El Rocko last start but gets blinkers back on. Lesser chances to BELLE SAVOIR and BAROQUE ROAD. Selections: 6,12,9,13 Suggested Bet: The Open each way Market Market
