Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 6, 2020February 6, 2020 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1 SIR GALAHAD (6) has won six of his ten career starts and resumed from a short break with a comfortable all-the-way victory here last week. This looks a tougher assignment but he still appeals as the one to beat. BRACKEN SKY (1) has a losing sequence of 16 but hasn’t had much luck of late and should be a big improver from the pole. ALWAYS AN HONOUR (7) is an enigmatic type but is capable of sprinting over the top of his rivals if there is a strong tempo. SOHO THUNDERSTRUCK (8) has plenty of ability but the draw makes it hard. Tips: 6 1 7 8 Suggested Bet: BRACKEN SKY (1) each way. Race 2 AS HAPPY AS LARRY (7) was a solid all-the-way winner before facing the breeze when 2nd to Golden State. This looks an easier assignment and he is clearly the one to beat. COURAGE TELLS (1) sat on AS HAPPY LARRY (4) and defeated that pacer three starts back and must be considered on that run. SON OF A TIGER (2) ran on well to win the Northam Cup at his last start and looks the other winning chance. MACHLANI (10) is drawn to get a lovely run on the pegs and looks a great place chance. Tips: 7 1 2 10 Suggested Bet: AS HAPPY AS LARRY (7) to win. Race 3 BLETCHLEY PARK (4) didn’t perform at his best in the 4YO Classics and has had a break since that series. He is now with Stephen Reed and is the one to beat if anywhere near his top. CULPEKA (10) has impressed in winning his last five starts on end in effortless fashion and is clearly the main danger but has an awkward draw to overcome. BURNING RUBBER (1) resumes from a spell and doesn’t have the class of his main rivals but can play a part from the pole. CAPTAIN MANNERING (2) was a 1.54.9 winner here last week and is well drawn. Tips: 4 10 1 2 Suggested Bet: BLETCHLEY PARK (4) to win. Race 4 TIFFANY ROSE (3) disappointed last start when finishing at the rear behind the boys but did win five of her previous six starts. She is well drawn here and would be the one to be beat if she hasn’t trained off. DOUBLE EXPRESSO (6) faced the breeze when a strong winner over TIFFANY ROSE (3) and SUING YOU (5) last start and has won eight of her 11 starts. STARFROMTHEPALACE (1) resumed with a strong win and the significant rise in class is offset by the pole draw. SUING YOU (5) must be considered on her 2nd here two starts back. Tips: 3 6 5 1 Suggested Bet: TIFFANY ROSE (3) to win. Race 5 OUR JIMMY JOHNSTONE (2) ran a great 3rd in the Pacing Cup and gets his chance to lead throughout here in a race that shouldn’t be run at a hot tempo. VAMPIRO (9) started from this draw in both Cups and ran great 2nds on both occasion and will become the horse to beat if he arrests the lead away from his stablemate. HANDSANDWHEELS (12) followed a slashing 4th in the Pacing Cup with an all-the-way victory here last week but is drawn poorly. GALACTIC STAR (10) can’t find a break and will need some luck from this draw. Tips: 2 9 12 10 Suggested Bet: OUR JIMMY JOHNSTONE (2) each way. Race 6 GOLDEN STATE (3) bounced back to his best when leading throughout here last start. He should have the gate speed to cross and will prove hard to catch again. JAMES BUTT (1) ran a slashing 2nd in 1.52.7 in a heat of the Nights Of Thunder and looks a major player from the pole. ICENOTHINK (2) will settle close to the speed and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. IM SOXY (6) was a solid winner here last week and comes into play if they run a quick lead time. Tips: 3 1 2 6 Suggested Bet: GOLDEN STATE (3) to win. Race 7 THEO AVIATOR (4) ran a great 2nd to As Happy As Larry before working too hard in a quickly run race here last week. His effort was still sound on that occasion and should be right in the finish here. MCARDLES GEM (1) was held up for a run when 3rd here last week and looks a major player from the pole. MISTER BUSHIDO (7) ran a nice 2nd behind Touch Of Success first-up and will be fitter for that effort. ATHABASCAN (10) faced the breeze and finished 3rd in the same race and just needs some luck from this draw to be in the finish. Tips: 4 1 7 10 Suggested Bet: THEO AVIATOR (4) to win. Race 8 THEJEWELINHEREYE (4) hasn’t had much luck lately and ran home strongly to finish 2nd to Mileys Desire last week. She needs the right trip in transit but will be charging home if the breaks go her way. DONTSTOPBELIEVIN (10) did all of the work when 3rd in the same race and only needs to see daylight to be in the finish here. DANCING WITH MACH (2) had gear problems in the Albany Cup but must be considered on her recent form. PARISIAN PARTYGIRL (11) has only been placed in one of her last ten starts but can surprise. Tips: 4 10 2 11 Suggested Bet: THEJEWELINHEREYE (4) each way. Race 9 ACE BROMAC (1) led throughout in 1.57.0 over this trip four starts and a will give a great sight if he can repeat that performance. MARAS ACE MAN (4) was an impressive winner after finding the front last week and will be pushing forward at the start. TWOANDAHALFTIGERS (10) is working back to his best and was held up when 2nd last start and is drawn to get a nice trip. BATAVIA ON FIRE (3) will strip fitter for his close-up 4th at his first run back from a spell and is drawn to be prominent. Tips: 1 4 10 3 Suggested Bet: ACE BROMAC (1) to win. Race 10 DENNIS (4) has a losing sequence of 14 but drops significantly in class for this assignment and gets his chance to break back into the winners’ circle. JILLIBY JAKE (3) is a one-paced type but will be hard to catch if he can bully his way to the top. PERLEE GATES (1) disappointed when favourite in the Busselton Cup after doing too much work but should be in the finish from the pole. WALSH (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and will be dangerous if he sees daylight in the final circuit. Tips: 4 3 1 10 Suggested Bet: DENNIS (4) to win. Market Market
