Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 23, 2020 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1 AS HAPPY AS LARRY (10) has been building up to his best form and was a comfortable all-the-way winner here last week. He goes up in class tonight and goes to the back line but still appeals as the one to beat. GOLDEN STATE (7) had no luck here last week in a stronger field and has the gate speed to cross if desired. QUICK STRIDE (1) led throughout in solid time last start and must be considered again. PICK MY POCKET (6) was a comfortable last start winner but the draw makes it harder tonight. Tips: 10 7 1 6 Suggested Bet: AS HAPPY AS LARRY (10) to win. Race 2 JOE WITH THE FLOW (2) won two on end before running a solid 4th here last week. He looks a good chance to find the top and will be extremely hard to beat in that role. OUR RHYTHM N BLUES (5) is always thereabouts but rarely wins and that is likely to be the case again here. YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH (1) chased hard when 3rd in a stronger field last week and can play a part from the pole. EXTRADITE (4) is capable on his day and does possess good gate speed. Tips: 2 5 1 4 Suggested Bet: JOE WITH THE FLOW (2) to win. Race 3 THEO AVIATOR (5) faced the breeze when a strong 2nd to As Happy As Larry here last week. This looks an easier assignment and he should prove hard to beat. CROCODILE KID (1) is racing well and looks the leader and obvious danger from the pole. MARQUISARD (2) hasn’t had much luck since a strong victory here four starts and must be considered from his lovely barrier. NAVAL AVIATOR (10) has been unplaced at his past nine starts but should be an improver from his nice trailing draw. Tips: 5 1 2 10 Suggested Bet: THEO AVIATOR (5) to win. Race 4 MIGHTY SANTANA (5) followed some solid efforts with a strong 1.54.2 victory here last week. He should be suited by a solid tempo and will be hard to beat again. HY LEEXCITING (2) led throughout to defeat a similar field two starts back and will be hard to catch if he crosses quickly at the start. ROCK ME OVER (6) is in career best form and must be considered after winning two of his last three starts. SOKYS BIG BULLET (1) could try to hold up and can improve on his poor numerical form. Tips: 5 2 6 1 Suggested Bet: MIGHTY SANTANA (5) to win. Race 5 ITS ROCK AND ROLL (4) has been beaten into 2nd as favourite at his last two starts but can press forward and control the race here and looks the one to beat. ICONIC VALOUR (5) has impressed in winning his last three on end, including a victory over ITS ROCK AND ROLL (4) and must be considered again. JACK WILLIAM (10) has won three of his last four starts and looks an each way chance from his trailing draw. WHILE THEY PRAY (11) is a developing type with plenty of ability. Tips: 4 5 10 11 Suggested Bet: ITS ROCK AND ROLL (4) to win. Race 6 OCEAN RIDGE (3) led throughout to win his heat in a slick 1.53.5. His winning chances will increase dramatically if he can cross at the start and he will be hard to catch if that does eventuate. JAMES BUTT (6) started from a wide barrier and ran on well to finish 2nd in the quickest heat and looks a major player. DRACARYS (8) had her chance last week when 3rd in that heat but is too good to overlook. FAKE NEWS (9) was impressive in winning in the fastest time last week but has the widest draw to overcome. Tips: 3 6 8 9 Suggested Bet: OCEAN RIDGE (3) to win. Race 7 IM FULL OF EXCUSES (2) has resumed from a spell in top form, winning two of his three starts including a comfortable win over a similar field here last week and looks hard to beat again. IDEAL LINER (3) finished 2nd in the same race last week and is drawn to be right in the finish. CAVIAR STAR (6) won the Fremantle cup before copping interference in the WA Cup and looks the other winning chance. TALKTOMEURMATTJESTY (1) will lead this for a long way and has a surprisingly good record at the distance. Tips: 2 3 6 1 Suggested Bet: IM FULL OF EXCUSES (2) to win. Race 8 SALACIOUS GOSSIP (7) ran a nice 4th here last week in a stronger field and will appreciate the drop in class tonight. MILEYS DESIRE (8) has performed well after facing the breeze in better company at her last two starts and can overcome the wide draw. ILLUSIONATION (1) has a losing sequence of 34 but should be an improver from the pole. LEFTRIGHTGOODNIGHT (10) is well drawn for his racing pattern and can be dangerous late. Tips: 7 8 1 10 Suggested Bet: SALACIOUS GOSSIP (7) to win. Race 9 MR SUNDON (10) created a big impression with three big victories over similar fields. He did too much work in the run and knocked up to finish 3rd last start but can bounce back tonight. LORD LIAM (7) has finished in the top two at his last 13 starts and will be thereabouts again, particularly if he can cross at the start. TOKYO JOE (1) chased home MR SUNDON (10) when a distant 2nd to him in the Trotters Cup and can play a part from the pole. ROCK TONIGHT (6) upset a similar field last start and must be respected. Tips: 10 7 1 6 Suggested Bet: MR SUNDON (10) to win. Race 10 HOWARD HUGHES (5) has recorded two comfortable victories since crossing the Tasman. This is his biggest test in WA but he is drawn inside his main rivals and appeals as the one to beat. TIFFANY ROSE (9) has been impressive against her own sex and can win but has a tough draw to overcome against the boys. JASPERVELLABEACH (6) is taking a while to find his 2YO form but must be respected. MANNING (7) led throughout to defeat an easier field at Pinjarra last start and should be charging home. Tips: 5 9 6 7 Suggested Bet: HOWARD HUGHES (5) to win. Market Market
