Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 16, 2025October 16, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 Mike Reed holds the key to this race with my first three selections coming from that stable. BETTORS PRIDE (6) is the best horse of the trio but has the worst draw so will need something to go his way but he is versatile. LION QUEEN (1) was crossed from this barrier recently but her form is excellent and she should be in the finish. MIKIS PRIDE (2) got out to a silly price when when winning first-up in good time and must be considered from his nice draw. TUALOU (7), ALTA TRIBUTE (11) and FRANCO MOTU (12) all have the ability to win but the map doesn’t look to suit them tonight. Tips: 6 1 2 11 Suggested Bet: BETTORS PRIDE (6) to win. Race 2 HER PRESENCE (3) had her chance when leading and being beaten by Paroquet on her merits at her last start. The times were good in that event and she will be hard to catch if she can find the front here. OPAL HUNTER (7) is the class runner of the field and deserves his place at the top of the market but he has going to have to work in the run at some stage. WARATAH LOU (5) has been well-backed already and his first-up effort indicated that he is in for a good campaign. ADVANTAGE (6) is awkwardly drawn and goes up in class on his last start victory but can figure if the breaks go his way. Tips: 3 7 5 6 Suggested Bet: HER PRESENCE (3) to win. Race 3 HOTLY PURSUED (9) is the class runner of the field and he has the tactical speed to overcome the wide draw. He did things wrong at his last start but he is normally reliable and can bounce back tonight. THE IRON DUKE (11) has impressed in winning his two starts since crossing the Nullabor but he goes up in class tonight. PAROQUET (5) was enormous when sitting outside Her Presence and beating her at Pinjarra and will give a great sight at odds if she can work her way to the front. SWEET LUCIFER (1) rises in class after his last start win but that is offset by the perfect draw and he can feature. Tips: 9 11 5 1 Suggested Bet: HOTLY PURSUED (9) to win. Race 4 SWINGBAND (2) was placed behind Magnificent Storm two starts back and he will be hard to catch if he can find the front tonight. NEVER ENDING (9) hasn’t been able to get into the race at his first two starts back from a spell but this looks a more suitable assignment and he can finish over the top of them if there is a solid tempo. CAPTAIN RAVISHING (12) ran on to defeat Mister Smartee in 1.52.6 at his last start and must be considered despite the back line draw. LUSAKA (8) is the other class runner of the field but will need some luck from this barrier. Tips: 2 9 12 8 Suggested Bet: SWINGBAND (2) to win. Race 5 BETTOR FORTUNE (12) started at $1.20 when leading throughout to defeat a similar field at his last start and is the deserved favourite for the WA Derby but I am going to tip against him here. TROUBADOR (1) started at $19 when 3rd to BETTOR FORTUNE (12) but will give a great sight here from the pole. BETTOR FORTUNE (12) may just be too good for them and is suited by the staying journey so can’t be overlooked. CHASE ME (2) finished in between the Bond pair the last time they met and looks the other winning chance. RUNKLE CRUNCH (10) will be a place chance if he ends up on the leaders’ back. Tips: 1 12 2 10 Suggested Bet: TROUBADOR (1) to win. Race 6 HEAVENLY GIPSY (6) was close to crossing SWEET VIVIENNE (1) the last time they met but wasn’t going to until there was contact. They draw a bit further apart tonight which should help HEAVENLY GIPSY (6) and she will be hard to catch if she can cross quickly. SWEET VIVIENNE (1) can win this race two ways. If she holds up comfortably she will give a great sight out in front and is also capable with a sit so I am putting her on top at the each-way price. AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (12) and PENNY BLACK (10) will both come right into play if the lead isn’t decided quickly and they run a quick lead time. Tips: 1 6 12 10 Suggested Bet: SWEET VIVIENNE (1) each way. Race 7 RAKLOU (4) was beaten as a $1.20 favourite at his first start in WA but bounced back with a dominant win and is clearly the one to beat here. ATLANTIC GEM (6) has good gate speed and will make things interesting if she can cross at the start. TAKE A HIKE (1) ran 3rd to the favourite two starts back and looks a great place chance from the pole. SISTER CHERIE (8) and GREVIS (9) are last start winners capable of overcoming their wide draws if there is a solid tempo. Tips: 4 6 1 9 Suggested Bet: RAKLOU (4) to win. Race 8 MADDY ROCKS (1) has only missed a place once in her seven starts this time in and appeals as the one to beat from the pole. STAR LILLY (10) has also been placed in six of her last seven starts and looks the obvious danger from her nice trailing draw. JOLTED CHARM (2) has won three of her last four starts and did defeat the polemarker recently so she must be considered. MACHANE SAID (11) disappointed at Collie at his last start but isn’t the first horse to struggle at that circuit and he can improve here. Tips: 1 10 2 11 Suggested Bet: MADDY ROCKS (1) to win. Race 9 FAKENIT (9) hasn’t started favourite in any of her past three starts but has recorded impressive victories in all of them, including a dominant win from the breeze in the WA Oaks at her last start. She will be at a short quote here and is drawn poorly but is clearly the one to beat. CAPTAINSHAVTIME (2) had a setback and lost form but looked sharper at her last start and looms as the main danger to the favourite. OUR RICH CARGO (1) finished at the tail in the Oaks but looks a good place chance from the pole. FABULOUS DREAM (7) ran a nice 3rd at her first start back from a spell and will be running on. Tips: 9 2 1 7 Suggested Bet: FAKENIT (9) to win. Race 10 MAJESTIC GA GA (7) gave ALDEBARAN BOYD (8) a 10m start at the handicaps and was only beaten 1.9m when they met at Pinjarra. She now has the advantage at the barrier and will be hard to beat if she can maintain that advantage in the early stages. ALDEBARAN BOYD (8) has recorded three wins and two placings from his last five starts and is an obvious danger. LUVAFLAIR (6) defeated the favoured pair two starts back and finished just behind them at her last start and can win again if the race is run to suit. ARISTOTLE (1) hasn’t had much luck in weaker races at his first two runs in the state and is one to watch from the pole tonight. Tips: 7 8 6 1 Suggested Bet: MAJESTIC GA GA (7) to win. Market Market
