Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 17, 2025July 17, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CANDY APPLE (1) faced the breeze and was beaten into 7th here last week but she looks the likely leader from the pole tonight and should prove hard to catch. ATLANTIC GEM (7) ran 2nd in that event after starting from a similar barrier and she looks the obvious danger. GRAND COUTEAU (4) has returned in great form and looks the other winning chance if the breaks go her way. VALHALLA MISS (2) goes up in class but she is drawn to get a perfect run and won’t be far away. Tips: 1 7 4 2 Suggested Bet: CANDY APPLE (1) to win. Race 2 OUR THUNDER (1) is a 30 rater who has a losing sequence of 53 and poor recent form. There is no trial to indicate he can win but I can’t see why he would be in WA if there wasn’t some hidden ability so I’m suggesting to monitor the market and follow any moves. If he drifts, ignore this article and don’t tell anyone I tipped it. MADDY ROCKS (2) has trialled well for her return and would become the on top selection if there is no money for the polemarker. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (4) and MANEA (10) can both figure in the placings. Tips: 1 2 4 10 Suggested Bet: OUR THUNDER (1) to win. Race 3 BLAZE ON (12) worked hard in the run when 2nd to No Noney before having a similar run but proving too good here last week. This is a stronger field but he is flying and should fight out the finish again. SOHO MOONRAKER (5) worked hard in the final lap when 2nd in that event and can turn the tables with a more economical run in transit. MIKIS PRIDE (6) followed three consecutive victories with a strong 2nd to Chase Me and will make his presence felt. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (4) (likely leader) and VANDERBILT (7) are capable of winning an event of this nature but both are first-up and tackling race-fit and in-form horses. Tips: 9 10 8 1 Suggested Bet: BLAZE ON (12) to win. Race 4 CHASE ME (3) has resumed with three comfortable victories and he should lead and prove too good once again. CORDERO (1) loves to follow the speed and will be a great quinella chance if he can sit behind the favourite. LOUIE DIOR (6) put up a phenomenal performance here last week and will break back into the winners’ circle soon but isn’t suited by the likely map here. FLYING RUMOUR (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can be placed if he sees daylight at the right time. HOTLY PURSUED (8) is a richly talented pacer resuming after a 15-month absence and has brilliant gate speed but is likely to be driven conservatively first-up. Tips: 3 1 6 10 Suggested Bet: CHASE ME (3) to win. Race 5 HEAVENLY GIPSY (1) has led and won in 1.55 and change in three of her last five starts and with the favourite being first-up and drawn wide, I think she can give a great sight and cause a minor upset. MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) is a wonderful horse who is capable of overcoming the draw but think he might start under the odds here and happy to go against him, just for this week. SKYLOU (3) ran a nice race off a 50m handicap here last week and should be thereabouts. BRICKIES DREAM (6) is flying but will need some luck from his awkward barrier. Tips: 1 9 3 6 Suggested Bet: HEAVENLY GIPSY (1) each way. Race 6 DAWSON (6) has won his last four on end with the last three being from the stand. He is in the zone and is clearly the one to beat. MAXIMUM ROCK (2) is having hirst stand but looks the obvious danger if he can step cleanly. CHILLI PUNTER (6) was beaten 4.2 metres by DAWSON (7) at her last start but is now handicapped 10 metres better off and can turn the tables if she finds the front. IM THE BLACK FLASH (8) drops in class but has to contend with a 60 metre handicap. Tips: 6 2 4 8 Suggested Bet: DAWSON (6) to win. Race 7 SWEET PINS (3) resumed from a year away from the racetrack with an effortless all-the-way victory from this barrier last week and he should do the same again. MANHATTAN MOON (6) ran on from the rear to win in 1.54.5 here last week and is the obvious danger if the favourite doesn’t get it all his own way. HEEZ GOOD AS GOLD (2) has been solid in his two starts back from a spell and can be placed if he crosses and sits on the favourite. GOODTIME LOUIS (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and will be a good place chance if he sees daylight at the right time. MADAM MAGGIE (1) can be placed if she isn’t used too much in the early stages. Tips: 3 6 2 10 Suggested Bet: SWEET PINS (3) to win. Race 8 SHEZA SASSY LADY (7) impressed first-up when she ran on well to finish 2nd to the talented Sweet Pins. There is no pacer of that calibre in this line-up and she is clearly the one to beat. HEARTOFAHLIA (12) couldn’t get into the race when 7th in that event but can be driven more aggressively here. GOGGINS (3) ran a solid 2nd in a Lightning Lap race on Monday and should be competitive here. THE SWINDLER (6) had no luck in the Sweet Pins race last week and can make his presence felt. Tips: 7 12 3 6 Suggested Bet: SHEZA SASSY LADY (7) to win. Race 9 MY SILVER SPOON (6) lost form for a few weeks but his latest effort at Pinjarra was full of merit and he will give a great sight on an each way basis if he reproduces that run. BLAZE AWAY (8) had very good form last time in but he is first-up without a trial and happy to risk him from the wide draw. PETES HONOUR (5) hasn’t had much luck recently but will be a big improver if he can find the front. ALTA ALLURE (4) is racing well (forget her last run) and will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. MAJOR FREEWAY (1) can be a big improver from the pole. Tips: 6 8 5 4 Suggested Bet: MY SILVER SPOON (6) each way. Race 10 CHERRY ON THE CAKE (2) is racing fairly but she grows a leg in front and she will give a great sight if she can take up the running. SYNCHRONIZER (6) is in great form and has the versatility needed to overcome this barrier. SHES A TINY DANCER (8) has been placed at her last two starts and shouldn’t be far away again. LADY DELA HOYA (4) led throughout at her last start and will be hard to beat if she can cross but I don’t think she can cross CHERRY ON THE CAKE (2). Tips: 2 6 8 4 Suggested Bet: CHERRY ON THE CAKE (2) to win. Market Market
