Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 10, 2025April 10, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 LION QUEEN (8) is first-up after a five-month break and hasn’t trialled so there must be some queries about her but she is the best mare in the event and will be hard to beat if anywhere near her best. ACUSHLA MARIE (6) wasn’t suited when caught in the breeze here last week but can improve sharply with a better trip. SWEET VIVIENNE (9) has a wide draw to overcome but she is racing well and has the race fitness advantage. PUSHBUTTON ROCK (4) is racing consistently and can be in the money at good odds. Tips: 8 6 9 4 Suggested Bet: LION QUEEN (8) to win. Race 2 MADAM PUBLISHER (6) should be at her peak now and her last two efforts suggest she will be hard to beat tonight if she can get some cover and isn’t exposed too early. IDEAL MUSCLE (9) has been placed in all three starts this time in and has the class to overcome his wide draw. THE LITTLEMASTER (8) disappointed when leading at his last start but will be driven to his normal sit-sprint style from this draw and will be charging home. FRANCO ENCORE (7) was a dominant first-up winner and will give them something to catch if he can use his gate speed to cross at the start. Tips: 6 9 8 7 Suggested Bet: MADAM PUBLISHER (6) to win. Race 3 BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (1) found the front when recording a comfortable victory here last week. The rise in class is offset by the pole draw and he is the one to beat again. VANDERBILT (5) faced the breeze when a strong 1.55.5 winner at his last start and will test the favourite. SORRIDERE (7) ran 2nd in the Golden Nugget at his last start and is the class runner of the field but may be driven conservatively first-up from his wide draw. MAUNGATAHI (10) is drawn to trail the pacemaker and looks a good place chance. MAGNUS VICTOR (9) is flying but will need luck from out here. Tips: 1 5 7 10 Suggested Bet: BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (1) to win. Race 4 RUBY LOU (3) finished just behind the placegetters at her first four runs back for a spell before running a nice 2nd to Fakenit here last week. She looks the likely leader and will give them something to catch if she can get away with a bit in the middle stages. GREATGREAT BOULDER (9) has recorded a win over and 2nd to Blameitonthenight in his last two starts. He is the class runner of the field and will be extremely hard to beat if there is a solid tempo. KURIOUS BOY (7) handled the rise in class last week and can be in the money again. ADDA SPOILT MAJOR (5) caught the eye when placed at big odds here last week and is worth following. Tips: 3 9 7 5 Suggested Bet: RUBY LOU (3) to win. Race 5 MAGNIFICENT STORM (6) resumed with a gallant 3rd in the Mount Eden Sprint before overcoming a backline draw to win the Bunbury Cup. He has another awkward draw to overcome but looks to have come back as good as ever and he should fight out the finish. MISTER SMARTEE (4) worked hard in the Bunbury Cup when 5th to MAGNIFICENT STORM (6) but has the barrier advantage tonight and can turn the tables with the right run. MIGHTY CONQUEROR (2) beat home MISTER SMARTEE (4) in that event and will give them something to catch if he can find the front. OTIS (1) is drawn to enjoy a nice run behind the speed and can be placed again. Tips: 6 4 2 1 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (6) to win. Race 6 HAVEYOUMETTED (1), BETTOR ARCADE (5) and PRINCE OF PAIN (6) fought a recent event with only a neck between them. HAVEYOUMETTED (1) worked to find the front and finished 3rd in that event and I am going to lean towards him with the likelihood that he gets an easier lead. BETTOR ARCADE (5) and PRINCE OF PAIN (6) are the obvious dangers with little between them. MEDIEVAL MAN (4) is racing fairly and can make his presence felt. Tips: 1 5 6 4 Suggested Bet: HAVEYOUMETTED (1) to win. Race 7 JUSTCALLMEMIKI (5) has created a big impression in winning all four WA starts and went to a new level when facing the breeze and winning in 1.55.0 here last week. He is drawn outside his main rival tonight but still appeals as the one to beat. MENEMSHA (2) is a talented 4YO who looks the likely leader and will give the favourite a good run for his money. SUGAR STREET (1) goes up in class but follows speed well and can be placed at odds. ROLLING FIRE (8) will be fitter for his first-up run and will be suited if there is a solid early tempo. Tips: 5 2 1 8 Suggested Bet: JUSTCALLMEMIKI (5) to win. Race 8 PENNY BLACK (3) was impressive in defeating WATER LOU (5) here last week and is now drawn inside her so is clearly the one to beat. The effort of WATER LOU (5) looked better after dissecting the mid-race sectionals and she is capable of turning the tables if the race is run to suit and the market is likely to have the pair too far apart. LITTLE DARLING (2) and WONDERFUL TO FLY (6) fought out the Free-For-All last week and both are capable of causing an upset if the favourites drive to beat each other. Tips: 3 5 2 6 Suggested Bet: WATER LOU (5) to win. Race 9 CYCLONE JORDY (1) is undefeated in six WA starts and will be at prohibitive odds to make it seven on end. BELLY UP (2) is drawn to trail the favourite and looks the obvious pick to fill the quinella position. CAPTAIN STIRLING (4) is a nice type but may be forced to face the breeze at some stage of the race. CONTROL THE ROOM (3) is likely to settle three back on the pegs and that will be a good place to be if the favourite sprints a quick last lap. Tips: 1 2 4 3 Suggested Bet: CYCLONE JORDY (1) to win. Race 10 PATCHED (4) has had the measure of these trotters over his career but his last three efforts have been below his best. He has had three weeks between runs and I am banking on the little freshen up being the difference. CHUMANI (2) has the best recent form and will be hard to catch if he finds the front. LUVAFLAIR (3) ran on to defeat CHUMANI (2) and PATCHED (4) two starts back and must be considered. DARK SECRET (1) looks a place chance from the pole. Tips: 4 2 3 1 Suggested Bet: PATCHED (4) to win.
