Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 18, 2024July 18, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 RAJAH ROCKS (2) found the front when a dominant winner against a similar field at Bunbury and appeals as the one to beat again from his nice barrier. PETES HONOUR (4) faced the breeze and battled on well to finish 3rd to RAJAH ROCKS (2) and should fight out the finish again. SOHO SKYFALL (1) started from a back line draw and ran on well out wide to finish 6th in that event and will be prominent throughout from the pole. PRINCE OF PAIN (8) was a great 2nd to Menemsha here in Tuesday but is drawn poorly here. Tips: 2 1 3 8 Suggested Bet: RAJAH ROCKS (2) to win. Race 2 CAPTAIN BLIGH (3) found the front when a dominant 1.54.6 winner here last week and looks a great chance to bring up back-to-back victories. VELOCIPEDE (1) has options from the pole and the rise in class here is offset by his perfect draw. CONEY ISLAND LOU (8) followed two comfortable all-the-way wins with a struggling 9th at his last start when he had to work and he could be in for a tough run again. LOUCID DREAMS (7) was a strong 4th to CAPTAIN BLIGH (3) here last week but hasn’t been favoured by the draw. Tips: 3 1 8 7 Suggested Bet: VELOCIPEDE (1) each way. Race 3 CLASSIC CHOICE (4) is first-up without a trial but raced in stronger company last time in and he can go forward at the start and give a good sight at each way odds. STATE OF HEAVEN (2) hasn’t had much luck recently and he will be a sharp improver if he can find the pegs in the early stages. MY ULTIMATE CHEVRON (7) has shown plenty of ability during his career but his recent trial suggested he may not be at his top. FLYING RUMOUR (10) has a sharp turn of foot and can be dangerous with the right trip. Tips: 4 2 7 10 Suggested Bet: CLASSIC CHOICE (4) each way. Race 4 MACHS BETTOR (9) was an eye-catching winner here four starts back and his subsequent runs have been against stronger fields than he meets tonight. He will need some luck from his wide draw but he is the class runner. OCTOBER REIGN (5) has good gate speed and he will be hard to catch if he can cross at the start. THE BEAUDSTER (1) goes up in class on his last start win but should be prominent throughout from the pole. BENJI (6) charged home to finish 2nd to Youre So Fine before suffering a flat tyre at his last start and must be considered. Tips: 9 5 1 6 Suggested Bet: MACHS BETTOR (9) to win. Race 5 MIGHTY CONQUEROR (9) resumed with a close 2nd to THE MIKI TAKER (3) when he carried a flat tyre over the concluding stages. He will strip fitter for that effort and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. DIEGO (5) is racing soundly and he will be hard to beat if he can work his way to the front tonight which looks a distinct possibility. THE MIKI TAKER (3) was only bloused out on the line by Never Ending here last week and will make his presence felt again. THE CODE BREAKER (1) should enjoy a nice run just behind the speed and can be placed at odds. Tips: 9 5 3 1 Suggested Bet: MIGHTY CONQUEROR (9) to win. Race 6 SOHO SANTORINI (4) led throughout in a recent mobile trial and he will be hard to beat if he can step cleanly at his first attempt from the stand. STEEL THE SHOW (11) is the class runner of the event and is the obvious danger. FIREROCKROLL (9) is back in form and has a good record from the tapes. DEEORSE (1) doesn’t have the class of many of his rivals but he is always a place chance under these conditions when he can enjoy a soft run on the speed. Tips: 4 11 9 1 Suggested Bet: SOHO SANTORINI (4) to win. Race 7 SWAGGER MAN (3) has been consistent without winning apart from one disappointing effort at Narrogin. He is nicely drawn here and this looks his chance to break back into the winners’ circle. GET YA BETS ON (10) tried to lead throughout when 5th in 1.54.6 here last week. He drops in class tonight and should enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. SOHO CONFIDENTIAL (1) led throughout in 1.56.1 four starts back but his subsequent efforts haven’t been convincing. DISCO UNDER FIRE (11) doesn’t win out of turn but is racing well enough to figure here. Tips: 3 10 1 11 Suggested Bet: SWAGGER MAN (3) to win. Race 8 AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (6) impressed in winning both starts last time in and is clearly the one to beat after drawing inside her main rival. THREE RUMOURS (8) is back to her best and is the obvious danger but will need to put up a huge performance to overcome the wide draw. LITTLE DARLING (2) is racing well and could upset the favoured pair if the breaks go her way. SISTA SAMMY (1) is first-up but has been placed in 15 of her 21 career starts and shouldn’t be far away from the pole. Tips: 6 7 2 1 Suggested Bet: AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (6) to win. Race 9 MANDOWN (4) was sent out as a $1.05 favourite at his Australian debut when a dominant winner in moderate time. He steps up in class here but is clearly the one to beat. IDEAL TOMADO (6) has good gate speed and he can give some cheek if he can cross in the early stages. SOUND WAVE (1) has only been placed in one of his last five starts but can improve from the pole. LAMANDIER (7) ran a great 2nd in quick time here last week but has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 4 6 1 7 Suggested Bet: MANDOWN (4) to win. Race 10 CAPTAINSHAVTIME (6) crosses the Tasman with good NZ form and appeals as the one to beat but she hasn’t been seen since May so monitor the betting. RUBY LOU (7) used her good gate speed to cross from a similar draw and lead throughout at her last start and looks the obvious danger. CRUNCHEE (5) is a strong filly who was a good winner from the breeze at her last start and can make her presence felt. TWILIGHT TANGO (3) was a solid all-the-way winner here on Tuesday but this is a tougher assignment. Tips: 6 7 5 3 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINSHAVTIME (6) to win. Market Market
